The content from the mod Savage Animals Ogre & Greenskins Animal Variety 4K Reskin Compilation has been removed. There are several reasons for this: first, those textures are 4K and could affect performance for some users; also, the changes compared to what was included in this mod were minimal. On top of that, it’s possible this mod will be updated with more things in the future, so I think it’s better to keep them separate. It could also make this mod take up too much space.

On the other hand, I’ve added my mod Treeman Variants.

I’ve also compressed the textures as suggested by Vaxar Kun, which has considerably reduced the mod’s size (thank him for that).

I’ve analyzed the comments and considered some possibilities, but in the end I decided to leave Grimlocks as they are. This skin feels much more unique compared to the original red version, which fits better for the regular lords (sorry for the pure lore lovers).

@꧁༒♛AuT♛༒꧂ The mod already includes dragon variants, I don't do reskins, it's not my field.
@The Baron I don't have the info right now, but I'm guessing I'll remove its entry in variantmeshes. Although I think I used its textures for the normal ones.
@Scorppion You shouldn't need anything else, you probably have another mod that would override these changes and when you download Savage Animals you would overwrite it again.

Do you plan to use compression on the mod?

With ZSTD compression in RPFM, this can be reduced to 2,5GB

I take back my comment. The skin has grown on me. The lore description says he has dark skin anyways, so the bright orange looks nice. Cheers for the great mod.

well i checked on their mod and it doesnt include the white wolf skin in game or in rpfm, only this mod does in game and in rpfm strangely.

@Wiid I've looked into porting this mod and some things can be ported well but others would require more work since the way those textures are managed has changed. The problem is that I haven't played for months and I've lost a bit of interest in mods.

In fact, in many cases you can differentiate the regiment mounts from the heroes and lords but it would actually require creating several models for each one. And something similar happens with the beasts if I wanted a beast to keep the same color throughout the campaign I would have to create clones with different textures. In principle I like how it is, it's simply to give greater variety in battle not to be ultra-realistic.

I just looked an not a single mod I can find adds variations to the lizardmen scale colors.

The issue is that the model in question can ether have variants or not and its random.

Example the Pegasus mount.

It is used by both the Pegasus Knight unit and lords and heroes.
If you want the unit to have variants in the horse models, so must the lords and heroes because they use the same one and since its randomized on what color the horse will be, each battle the lord will have a different color unless it rolls the color from the last battle.

This can easily be fixed but just making them two separate mounts but then this mod is no longer just a visual overhaul and could cause conflicts with other mods because it would have to change existing content.

It's not a bug, it's just the way non-unique entity variants are handled. I'm not an expert on these types of mods so I don't know if there's a way to make this not happen.

Idk if this "issue" has already been adressed but it seems like Lord's mounts can vary in color from one battle to another, is this normal? can this be changed or is it inherent to the mod?

@Tig_Basty_Boi As I said, it depends a bit on how the mod is made. If I wanted to change only the texture of a unit, what I would do would be to add that texture with the same name as the original to replace it. This would generate a change in the vanilla variant that my mod does not modify except on rare occasions. Anyway, the best thing you can do is try it. These types of mods can be installed and uninstalled without problems.

@Tig_Basty_Boi It depends on how the other mod is made, if it is exclusively a reskin the only thing it will do is change one of the variants, but if that mod includes other variants one mod will override the other in the modified units, the rest should work fine.
