Ok! While I can chose the ones I prefer, it seems due to "All Soliders Gain XP" If the solider isnt leveled up before gaining enough XP to go from lv 1 to 3, they get auto assigned a specialisation
Alastor The Puppet  [author] 22 Oct @ 5:31am
I don't think so, if you have the Origin second wave option enabled, then you can still choose the ones you prefer, they just get the random ones first
Mr.ArigatouSan 22 Oct @ 5:11am
There seems to be an auto specialisation picker if you dont level up rookies before they earn enough to pass squaddie. Is there an ini for this?
FingerBlaster3K 10 Oct @ 10:45am
really good info, cheers. probably going to use it relatively soon as my current campaign turns out to be tad bit too easy
Alastor The Puppet  [author] 10 Oct @ 10:20am
There is a second wave option called [RPGO] Origins: Choose the soldiers starting abilities

This enables you to pick origin traits, the psi traits should show up there, when you first promote a rookie to squaddie.

Also make sure to disable the [RPGO] Commanders Choice second wave option as it's bugged with the origins one.

there is no way of knowing your mods when you reinstall the game after years and your only clue is following the missing dependencies trail and half of existing mods scream at your face that you need some outdated stuff. obv i figured it out because it aint my first rodeo but some guy may come and get a patch of gray hair trying to make things work

on the side, as the guy from comment page before, i have problem with psi abilities - psi enabling trait seems to do exactly nothing. nowhere had i ability to pick anything psi related. from what i gathered there seem to be a menu missing that should pop up when you promote a guy from a rook to a soldier.

may be also a problem with my mod salad

You know that LW2 secondary weapons are from... Long War 2. LWOTC is the newest Long War mod. This literally means that LW2 secondary weapons are included in.... LWOTC, which is a requirement for this mod.

Knowing your mods can save yourself a headache :)
FingerBlaster3K 6 Oct @ 12:27pm
i was very close to post here about lw2 sec weps but lo and behold, found info comment page before. might as well update mod description to save yourself a headache
Alastor The Puppet  [author] 15 Aug @ 5:20am
Yet again not this mod, you can ask on the xcom 2 modding discord or the long war of the chosen discord
Peluceus Donmian 15 Aug @ 5:19am
I don't know where else I can ask a bunch of people who are using almost an identical modpack to me but I was assigned a mission to I guess loot some crates scattered in the level - and extract. I can only open and close the boxes, and the green squares that indicate an objective don't go away even if I put someone next to the crate and have them constantly open and close the boxes. Does anyone have any clue if I broke something because I am guessing that's probably what happened
Alastor The Puppet  [author] 14 Jul @ 3:26pm
This mod does no technical changes, it only uses stuff that's already done. If there is a problem it's not because of this.
Daddyfatflab 14 Jul @ 3:24pm
Have you encountered a bug where melee animations dont play? (sword) Only lwrpgo and lwotc
Alastor The Puppet  [author] 14 Jul @ 7:10am
Probably a base RPGO bug.
Daddyfatflab 14 Jul @ 6:55am
Hey again Alastor, wanted to report a bug, regarding Second Wave RPGO Origins when using random pool size (or when chosen ability = 1 and random ability = 1) the randomly selected perks reroll when you exit the menu and return to it.

Blixtgordon11 18 May @ 9:00am
So the rocketeer class is a bit weird, it starts off with the fire and steel abilety and i cant acsses the bunkerbuster abilety because of it.
Torres 28 Apr @ 7:08am
Can't seem to be able to specialize psi characters with the abilities that are telling me they can be specialized, got nothing on the psi labs or anywhere for that matter.

I use [WOTC] Disable Any Class GTS Redux by RustyDios, could that be the one? because the other mods I use are EVAC ALL and mostly extra points after missions and comestic stuff like armors and voicepacks
Alastor The Puppet  [author] 21 Apr @ 3:40am
RPGO includes it's own community promotion screen so you can safely have the new community promotion screen since it will not effect RPGO.

LWOTC includes the LW2 secondary weapons so don't worry about them. The compatibility patch includes the necessary changes so that they function properly
Torres 20 Apr @ 3:21pm
so it's telling me that Mushashi's RPGO requires LW2 secondaries and to deactivate it, when I do I get a new popup telling me it needs it so I have to activate it so I'm assuming it gets turned off since I'm playing LWOTC

Then it's community promotion screen
Alastor The Puppet  [author] 5 Apr @ 2:35pm
Donwload everything that's required except LW2 secondary weapons since they are already included in LWOTC,

You can also use True Primary Secondaries instead of Primary secondaries.
Czechurself 5 Apr @ 2:27pm
Question: This mod has dependencies that require other dependencies, some of which are broken, how deep should I go in dependencies?
Alastor The Puppet  [author] 25 Feb @ 4:29pm
should be fixed, you will need to rebuild your rpgo soldier to see the effect.

As for the other two asking about the incompatibility. RPGO brings his own community screen so you wont have the functionality for your RPGO soldiers. This is literally listed on the community screen. All you lose is the ability tags
DG 25 Feb @ 7:32am
for some reason my saboteur cannot get shrapnel, overkill and remote start now, even though i already have biggest booms. couldn't figure out what is it conflicting with
NHZ 23 Feb @ 12:04pm
i am redoing all my mods now, but before Feb 8th 2025, i would just ignore it. Gsedi/Podpi23, im talking too. Get past 1st few missions and test an see what works, what are you trying to do. Use console commands to speed up the test. if it works as intended, your good to go.
gseidi 5 Feb @ 10:39am
same problem as podpi23... anyone can help ?
podpi23 7 Jan @ 11:57am
hello i need help. You says that I eed i RPGO overhaul but when i install it it says that it is ncompatibility with community promotion mod which is needed for LWOTC . So what should i do ?? And on the opposite sides when i install LWOTC it says thaat it is incompatibility with secondary weapons mod which I need for this mod . What am I doing wron ? I just following instuctjons in the notes .
Kaijin 6 Jan @ 12:43pm
Gotcha, thank you for the info! And yes, the traits were left to random on my test runs.

Thanks for all the work you did!
Alastor The Puppet  [author] 6 Jan @ 12:36pm
This has nothing to do with this mod, this is an RPGO problem.

If the traits are chosen randomly then it's problematic but if you choose them yourself it's mostly just cosmetic.

I know no fix for this.
Kaijin 6 Jan @ 12:29pm
Hi! Small Q. Every now and then my soldiers promote with only one origin trait, and one that errors with 'LocFriendlyName missing for None.' The game works fine with the error, but I'm guessing it's asking for a perk that is missing from my list.

On the compat patch, there's 2 lists. I have the one that's listed as required, but the 2nd list appears to mostly be classes and the instructions there say we are free to skip what we don't want; I opted against a lot of them.

By chance, does this one pull from mods listed in the 2nd list for the origin traits, and if so, do you know which ones (or all)?

If not, then I'll keep trying to figure out what I'm missing on the reqs =)
Alastor The Puppet  [author] 4 Jan @ 1:59pm
What do you mean never mentioned??? It's not my job to tell you how to install an another mod.

This mod builds upon the others, you download them, follow their instructions, and then download this mod.

Most mods specify if something is built in. The patch is a soft requirement if it was built in it wouldn't even be mentioned in the first place. I just tell you hey this mod contains this other mod no need to get it etc.

I only answered because your second question was somewhat valid, but then again your issue is already explained in the aforementioned mods. LW2 weapons are built into LWOTC it's explained there (read the credits). True Primary secondaries is a "better" version and mostly compatible with anything, it's explained there. And yet again you shouldn't even ask this here because yet again not my mod, not my job.

You are not the first who asks about the patch's instructions, what can I tell you, I installed it the same way you or the others did.
Major Piss 4 Jan @ 1:45pm
I read everything, that's exactly why I'm asking. You never mentioned anything about RPGO&LWOTC Balance Patch's requirements. That was an understandable question for me to ask because there have been lots of cases when someone makes a '2.0' or 'Redux' (or the like) version of a mod the original requirements for the original mod are either obsolete or integrated.
I'm already playing with this and realized that it didn't matter since I already had all of that collection's mods installed anyway.
Alastor The Puppet  [author] 4 Jan @ 8:26am
1. Download the required small collection in the installation instructions (for the love of god read)
2. You don't need lw2 secondary weapons since they are included in LWOTC and True primary secondaries are fine
Major Piss 3 Jan @ 9:20am
Also, are RPGO's requirements also needed to be installed? (LW2 weapons and primary weapons) (I have true primary secondaries if that works)
Major Piss 31 Dec, 2024 @ 4:29pm
Do you have to follow rpgo&lwotc balance patch's installation instructions in order to install this mod as well? As in subscribing to the collections listed in that mod's installations instructions

it does work but some skills might be missing and the new ones are not added yet, I'll update it
FezForeigner 16 Dec, 2024 @ 11:03am
oh sweet, thanks for the quick reply
Alastor The Puppet  [author] 16 Dec, 2024 @ 11:01am
I will update it first
FezForeigner 16 Dec, 2024 @ 10:53am
with the new lwotc update will this still work?
Alastor The Puppet  [author] 15 Nov, 2024 @ 2:32am
The holes are supposed to be there. I didn't want to completely rework the base specializations so i've added "new" ones and simply there are not enough perks to fill all rows, but this is intended.
Karnich 14 Nov, 2024 @ 1:18pm
are there supposed to be holes in the specialization trees ? or should every row be full? :)
Boursemolle 10 Nov, 2024 @ 1:17pm
Thanks for the intel, will try my luck ! The Marauder spec allowed me to build my doom guy so i will never thank you enough for this, bonus for the knife juggler spec for my knifeslinger build ^^
Alastor The Puppet  [author] 10 Nov, 2024 @ 10:20am
Glad to hear you enjoyed the mod!

This is most likely a bug in RPGO. You could ask around the xcom 2 modding discord.
Boursemolle 10 Nov, 2024 @ 2:43am
Hi there. First, thanks you very much for this mod Alastor. I have a "bug" that give my soldiers a random ability once i finalize the class creation at the first level up. A pop-up window appear and tell me my boi get a new ability. It doesn't appear on the soldier abilities but the effects are active (like 2hp bonus, +3 movement ....). I don't know wich mod cause this, i take all day looking on reddit and mod pages but nothing about it, so i post this here as it is a recent mod involved with RPGO. Sorry for my bad english, have a nice day guys and for them who don't have it, try this mod, it's amazing.
Theboywhocould 4 Nov, 2024 @ 1:22am
Nevermind I got distracted it will have to be the next time I log on
Theboywhocould 3 Nov, 2024 @ 11:42pm
I haven't edited any mods myself, I will play rn and see if their are multiple build recipes for knives.
Alastor The Puppet  [author] 3 Nov, 2024 @ 5:32am
Also if you have the weapon tier color mod the normal ones should be blue and purple, and the utility ones are white (conventional tier).
Alastor The Puppet  [author] 3 Nov, 2024 @ 5:27am
Did you modify the RPGO compatibility patch? The utility throwing knives are removed by it and I guess you somehow crafted an alloy one from that. This only works in the utility slot so you can't equip it for your reaper.

Do you have two throwing knife build recipes? The normal one should be near the ripjack crafts, and the utility one is at the bottom
Theboywhocould 3 Nov, 2024 @ 2:31am
Apologies if it's been covered but when I researched throwing knives my reaper can't equip the upgraded version even though it show's its available in the utility slots. Since I can't remove the basic secondary knife I cannot access the upgrade.

I am running RPGO and LWOTC, nothing else so far seems to not work that I am aware of.
