@NakedAgent Well more like rather from a perspective on qualitative vs quantitative. Like for the top 20% quality part of a thing (the high lvl polish, peak value stuff) you need to spend 80% amount of time ;)
NakedAgent 13 Mar @ 2:02am
Ah I see. You mean wasting 80% of your life only achieving 20% of the things you wanted to do ;)

@NakedAgent All good man I didn't see it as some demanding, actually it gave me a positive pat on the back to not give up since people are interested :)

Yeah 12-16h at pc totally know what you mean man, myself as a full-time web developer as an official job that's like 6-8h daily (if not project deadlines with 12h+ crunch times) and add on top of that this passionate hobby which is another 4-8h (if not entering a flow state which can also be 12h+), that's quite a toll on ones organism haha

Yup that self-perfectionism can be a real enemy here, the Pareto principle 80/20 keeps on proving itself again and again

Sorry, I didn't want to make it seem like I am demanding or something. I have my own tech pet projects and sometimes I overdo it and expect too much of myself. And then day after day and 12h to 16h at the computer eventually all my creativity and drive is gone. Then I need a break and one day I will pick up where I left off. These things are so complicated and require so much dedication and time that it can be too much for one person. Do what it takes, either collaborate, or take your time and come back later. That's basically like collaborating with yourself haha. Thanks for doing it and allowing us to share the spoils :)

@NakedAgent

Since I've already spent like 1000+ hours on this project, then burned out and stuck on the 3d models part, I needed a 2nd project just to keep me in mapping overall, thats where I started Guild. So basically I'm trying to stabilize Guild in terms of layout in the playtesting phase now and then it would be best to switch back to Freya. Knowing my weakness in staying at one thing for too long and losing the taste for it, I need to make such ping pong moves just to keep me going.

@NakedAgent Hey there, I'm definetly not giving up on this map, too much love was spent in its creation till this point :)

It is just currently on hold as I have yet to learn 3d modelling for custom assets needed on the map (Norway windows, doors, doorframes etc.) and I keep postponing it for a long time. Since I've already come a long way solo with this I'm still at a dilemma whether I just give up on this part for the sake of finishing it and just find a collab with a 3d modeller or I actually enter the frey here once more and do all the modelling too. Guess I'll have to give myself an ultimatum for the next 3 months to arrive at a resolution. It would be perfect coming out on this years christmas holidays instead of rotting idle on the workshop.

What happened here? No progress? Come on, this is a great map. Just needs some love with detailed textures.

@Rump3L huh strange I think the old one popped up as compatible with CS2 in the workshop when I found it.
Bantne  [author] 23 May, 2024 @ 11:31pm
@michi this one runs with cs2, has some modified lighting and some changes in cover, ought to continue

the old one is for csgo (thinking of maybe shutting it down after some time)
NakedAgent 23 May, 2024 @ 11:30pm
@michi: the difference is that your link points to the CS:GO version. Which means better fps, smarter bots, better weapon penetration - but you can only play it on the beta program for CS:GO now.

Looks great so far. One would have to ask why there are doors wide open on buildings in Winter though.... hmmmm
