Pushing an update to fix that now
qux 10 Aug @ 7:04am
Hi, RG_temperategrassland no exist anymore
Mara 6 Aug @ 11:13am
Hi!
It is possible to have more owl? It can sound strange, but they are my favorite birds and would lile to make a colony around owl.
My favorite species are Otus Scops/Eurasian Eagle-owl (bubo bubo) and long-eared owl.

Thank you for this mod :D
Tyrannidae  [author] 27 Jul @ 3:14pm
This mod will continue to stay CE incompatible until they release their 1.6 version, b/c I need to see if they're doing anything special with flying creatures.
Runic 27 Jul @ 7:50am
Alright thanks
Tyrannidae  [author] 27 Jul @ 5:03am
Yep CE is your issue then, sorry
Runic 26 Jul @ 8:05pm
I do have CE and the bird was the Black-winged Cuckooshrike
Tyrannidae  [author] 26 Jul @ 6:45pm
I'm about to go to bed, but I can look at rebalancing in the morning if any birds other than the Owl are killing people lmfao

The owl is around the strength of a Vanilla Fox I think
Tyrannidae  [author] 26 Jul @ 6:42pm
@Runic I need more details
- Which bird
- Do you have CE installed (this will make the birds extremely unbalanced if so b/c none of my mods are patched for CE)

None of the small birds are stronger than a Vanilla rat, last I checked. If it was the Owl, that checks out
Runic 26 Jul @ 6:40pm
One question, I tested this on naked brutality but, why does 1 bird kill 1 human?
Tyrannidae  [author] 26 Jul @ 8:00am
@Doc sophie
Take a look at Bird Up!+! I'll think you'll like it ;)
Doc Sophie 25 Jul @ 10:37am
Bird mom here, you are a legend and I cannot WAIT to see quaker parrots, cockatiels, and all sorts of canaries being added. <3
Tyrannidae  [author] 22 Jul @ 9:14am
Yes
RutraNickers 22 Jul @ 5:04am
Have you had the time to implement the vanilla animal flight mechanics that got added in 1.6?
cb 11 Jul @ 12:04pm
yeah!:steamhappy:
Tyrannidae  [author] 8 Jul @ 4:14pm
@RealLifeHobgoblin ...Which my mod uses lmfao
RealLifeHobgoblin 8 Jul @ 12:57pm
moo, that would require Vanilla Expanded Framework.
Tyrannidae  [author] 2 Jul @ 2:43pm
@moo That's incredibly helpful AND extremely good timing b/c I just got back from my trip. I'll be pushing an update tonight to fix this!
moo 2 Jul @ 1:55pm
Hi. You can fix this by changing:

<li Class="NocturnalAnimals.ExtendedRaceProperties">
to:
<li Class="VEF.AnimalBehaviours.ExtendedRaceProperties">
Wednesday 29 Jun @ 6:07pm
Thanks!
Wednesday 29 Jun @ 6:07pm
yeah, it seems like no birds are behaving as nocturnal because of the error, I have not observed any other issue until now
but I'll be on the safe side and delete the patch while you don't post a fix

In case anyone else want to delete it too to clear the error before the modder posts a fix, the patch they mentioned is located in Patches/bodyClock.xml
Tyrannidae  [author] 29 Jun @ 5:47pm
Perfect! iirc, the nocturnal coding is applied with an XML patch, so that should be easy to remove by deleting the patch file until I fix it (but otherwise afaik the only thing that should happen is birds just won't be nocturnal)
Wednesday 29 Jun @ 5:07pm
Thanks to your hint, I could reproduce it with only your mod and VEF, here is the log

Wednesday 29 Jun @ 4:50pm
@Tyrannidae NP, thanks for getting back to me! I’ll try to isolate the error further and will send you a log so you can take a look whenever it’s convenient for you. :)
Tyrannidae  [author] 29 Jun @ 2:08pm
I won't be able to fix this until the 3rd most likely, though.
Tyrannidae  [author] 29 Jun @ 2:06pm
@Wednesday
I'm currently on vacation, but this looks like a VEF issue, since that's what the activity period code comes from. Do you have more info about the error?
Wednesday 29 Jun @ 12:47pm
I'm having this error in 1.6

Could not find type named NocturnalAnimals.ExtendedRaceProperties from node <li Class="NocturnalAnimals.ExtendedRaceProperties"><bodyClock>Nocturnal</bodyClock></li>
UnityEngine.StackTraceUtility:ExtractStackTrace ()
Tyrannidae  [author] 24 Jun @ 12:05pm
Ok I ended up going on a tangent and found an issue with the Cuckooshrikes on accident. Pushing a fix for that and the Triller/Parrot sprites now!
Tyrannidae  [author] 24 Jun @ 9:02am
Figured out the issue. I only had E/W sprite sets in there so it wasn't able to handle N/S views. Pushing an update in a bit
Tyrannidae  [author] 24 Jun @ 8:47am
@Plaguelord
Let me do some testing this morning. They should be working fine...
Plaguelord 24 Jun @ 6:58am
Birds are appearing as pink squares while flying in 1.6 for me, no errors or anything.
Antiquary 20 Jun @ 8:46pm
Seeing them fly is so cute! Great update.
pug 20 Jun @ 7:36pm
I love the birbs they're so cute :3
Head 11 Jun @ 12:18pm
Flight in vanilla omg!
Enrico 11 Jun @ 12:16pm
lol W
Tyrannidae  [author] 11 Jun @ 12:15pm
Ok I've updated this mod to 1.6. Flight is gonna look jank while I work on the flight sprites, but it works now without any extra mods (in 1.6 only! 1.5 still needs the Pathfinding Framework!)
Tyrannidae  [author] 11 Jun @ 10:12am
Well... I guess update 1.6 answered that question LMFAOO

I WILL be updating this to 1.6, and my other bird mods will also be getting support for this new flying stuff, too! This one and GREG are gonna be prioritized for sure.
Tyrannidae  [author] 9 Jun @ 6:36pm
@Enrico I do not think so
Enrico 9 Jun @ 2:05pm
Do they fly over walls?
ChillStorms 22 May @ 1:51am
Maybe it is just a me problem, but in case it is not I wanted to let you know TYR_AnimalRandomizedColors may be a bit broken as the Philippine Fairy-bluebird does not appear to have a skeleton, instead opting to use its regular body texture instead of Owl_skel
Tyrannidae  [author] 14 May @ 5:05pm
Agreed! I'll probably make an alt version of this mod that makes smaller birds like the hummers ambients
Head 14 May @ 8:30am
This mod is really cool. Looking forward to Scurvyez's mod that makes small animals not count as actual entities. That would open the door to having lots of small bugs / insects and other little critters without destroying performance.
Scurvyez  [author] 30 Apr @ 6:40pm
@RocketRacoon One of the mods I'm planning on making in the near future will do this for things like birds, bugs, and other small animals such as mice, voles, frogs, etc. I already have everything in place code-wise with my Fireflies 2 mod which using a particle system to render the fireflies. I just need to find time to make another, more generic, mod for different animals and effects. But like Tyr said, the base game does not support such things in any performant manner so it takes a lot of code to get it to work.
Tyrannidae  [author] 22 Apr @ 4:14pm
@RocketRacoon That's out of my scope, sadly. Rimworld isn't really built to have ambient critters like that
Tyrannidae  [author] 22 Apr @ 4:11pm
@Hex: Thicc grass
It should now! Let me know if anything isn't working properly.
Hex: Thicc grass 21 Apr @ 7:09pm
does this mod work with vanilla genetics expanded?
RocketRacoon 12 Oct, 2024 @ 11:49am
Would it be possible to have birds not being counted as animals on the map or something? While I love the birds, I don't want to have to hunt them for food :))
huge snail man 11 Sep, 2024 @ 7:04pm
I'm a giant bird nerd and would love some north american birds like the american crow, northern cardinal, great horned owl, etc
Memini 29 Aug, 2024 @ 1:49pm
Best mod to restore some sanity. Had too many brainrot content recently
KrovleR 27 Jul, 2024 @ 2:33am
