Don't know if you have done suplex, it is an active after all, but it has a similar seeming dash mechanic

New update! Support for the collectible Mars!
-> now, if the player is dashing, it will not fall into pits anymore!

(I found out that Mars is a passive item, so the fix is easier. Tell me if you find other collectibles that have problems)

Fair enough, I did think of something, you could potentially release a Heavy Edition version of the mod. This has the benefit of not changing anything for players who don't want to take the trade-off

This mod checks the player position before each collisions with grid's items. In repentegon there is a specific callback to do that, so everything should be very optimized. Using other methods, like the one you are suggesting, would make the mod heavier. But don't worry, maybe I will find another solution :thumbalift:

(The idea of making it based directly on what crosses in time would make dash type items like mars far cooler too)

What if you did not check, and let it be that anything fast enough to cross the pit crosses, along with that disabling movement inputs while in the air would possibly stop fast characters from visually skipping the pit before falling anyway

Note: I am not able to detect when an active item is being used and when it is not, but I am pretty sure it is possible.

Hi. Thanks for your comment. In the past I tried to add that feature but unfortunately I wasn't able to do it. The main problem is that I am not able to detect when an active item is being used and when it is not. Other than that, it would be very easy to implement.

Cool idea I had for a potential feature to add to a config, if you were sent over a pit entirely and your body passes the pit, then you don't actually fall, example, I have mars, I dash over a decent size pit but I still fall, I think being able to use stuff like mars to attempt to pass pits sounds really fun to play around

Major issue with Fiend Folio's grappling hook active item.

Normally the item can be used to hook yourself over pits and hazards. However if you hook to a wall that's over a pit, it will make the player fall down the pit and take damage like it's supposed to. (Which does mean not only China has the pit falling mechanic)

Normally, you can safely hook OVER a pit if there's ground at the other side of the pit, in which isaac will pass through the pit and safely land on the ground to where you hooked it.

However if this mod is active, even if Isaac should've been safe to hook and travel over the pit, it will still trigger this mod's falling event and damage isaac when in reality it would've been a safe hook shot.

doesnt work in coop:

- only player #1 will fall down

- every other coop player can walk over pits, if they enter a room and instantly walk towards one

- almost perfect support for pits covered by lilypads (from the Fiend Folio mod).

- better code;
- now the player has 5% chance (configurable) to fall directly into the next floor and, in very rare occasions, instead of the next floor, he will fall into a crawlspace.
- added some sound effects;
- added Mod Config Menu support;
- FIX: if you have the Mod Fiend Folio and you are in the floor Flooded Caves, you will NOT fall into pits anymore. This is to avoid falling into pits covered by lilypads (it's just a temporary solution until I understand how to make them compatible with my mod).

Hmm... I think it could be feasible, but I doubt I'll ever do it. I mean, you'd have to continuously track the position of all monsters... I think it would be too demanding in terms of performance. Additionally, I'm not sure if monsters would ever walk over pits... I don't think they're supposed to do that under any circumstances. :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

fun fact: this is a vanilla thing where if you somehow lose flight while over a pit you fall into the pit
