This map is good, but it needs more optimization! I don't know why players keep dropping frames on this map, could it be caused by high polycount models or more hint brushes needed?

Hi, I was wondering if the version of the map from the August 2nd, 2024 patch is available to download somewhere (where the beach ball still has its properties of having rockets and other projectiles getting potentially stuck in the ball)? I had wanted to get a flashy kill when I saw this but the map got patched before I could do this, so I just wanted to see if it was viable at all in a private server.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Flat out should not have been accepted. While this map is stunning visually, as the description flat out says, its just a glorified sniper v sniper shitshow. There is little to no cover, it is SUPER easy to start spawncamping if your team has a singular medic, and there's really nothing map design wise stopping or limiting annoying tactics such as projectile spam onto the point. I do really like the gimmick of the map exploding at the end of rounds though, funny touch.

i have never wrote a review to such a minor thing because i always brushed it away but sir your map is the shittiest map ive ever seen. such shitty optimizations i almost broke my brain playing this shit please dont make any maps soon.

Nah I think sniper sightlines need to be improved since we're not in 2007 anymore and we have a lot of sniper mains these days, also i think this map needs to be optimized because right now it runs really bad

Also i should probably give my opinion on the map, because that's waht comments are for, right ?
From a gameplay standpoint, it's (hot take) quite good. Not REALLY good and not perfect, but it's really not bad. The sightlines for sniper can be really opressive, and a 5,000 sniper main can just turn a match to crap. But tf2 was never intended for people to invest 5k in a single class from the beginning, so not really on you.
From a setting and everything-other-than-gameplay standpoint, i think it's pretty much perfect. Nuclear test-site theme matches with the aesthetic and time setting of the game, the commically hung nuke fits the humor, and the ending explosion is just the icing on the cake, to me it's the perfect map.
Also i'm not a huge koth fan, but i just jumped on the occasion to make the fallout joke so that's why i stayed.

I saw a lot of clips and pics in the days after the initial release, and a lot of people were having a nice time because of you, so yes it is! perfectly captured the vibes I’ve wanted for the map from the start :steamthumbsup:

Fr, like I've had the annoying Sniper or two, but it's not because of the map. It's cause either the Sniper is just good or because they keep getting melee random crits every time I get close to them. In execution Snipers aren't that big of a problem because there is surprisingly a lot of cover and flank routes to take to get right up to the Snipers.

This map is a general reminder of how not to make a good map. I’ve been hearing that this map is easily by far the worst map of the 2024 Summer update thanks to the fact that there is a huge sightline that makes the map a Sniper haven, and you can snipe your opponents from anywhere, even on the control point, which in comparison towards Harvest makes the latter look like a saint.

i personally don't like the idea of limit the freedom this map offers, but if the changes are just to make some class equal to other, then that's the idea i came with

one idea that i have is to-
block the entrance to the rooftops, in that way the only classes that can go there are the ones with high mobility like Scouts, Soldiers, Demos and even Pyros, the other classes need to acces there via Parkour and some other things like Sentry Rocket Jump

I hope you will continue to work on the map. I don't want to see another map abandoned in a bad state. The main issues to resolve are easily spammable spawns, Sniper sightlines, and small playable area. Bigger playable area and more cover. Please. Pretty please.

Agreed, the rooftops are the worst aspect about this map. I feel like this map should have had another alpha revision before it was art passed. I get level design is hard, but I feel like this problem was brought up before and they just didnt bother revising it.

I thought this map seemed pretty cool, but it turns out in practice it's once again a map that looks pretty and plays abysmally.

For starters, the map is very small (wouldn't be surprised if it was smallest in the game now). That's not inherently a bad thing, however there's one very crucial aspect of this map that turns the small size into a negative: the rooftops. Basically, take how annoying Snipers can be on Harvest, and amplify that tenfold. I feel like I'm dying within seven seconds of entering middle because it feels like I can be seen from everywhere. There's no proper way for me to even try to sneak behind as anyone that's not Spy because it always feels locked down. Basically whoever takes that point first is probably going to be the winner of the round.

There's a reason why I'm always skeptical of maps that look good visually. They tend to not play well.

I like the map but remove access to the roofs for the Snipers. They're fine for scouts and soldiers, but Snipers can easily lock down the point.

I agree, the snipers can lock down the map and there’s basically no places to hide. I love how this map looks visually but something gotta be done about the sniper situation.

okay like, you got a nice map visually but the rooftops are so fucking OP positioning wise, 2 snipers with enough hours can just lock down the map in its entirety and make the team fights suck. you need to either expand the barriers and offer more cover to people leaving the spawn buildings or on the point or make the rooftops unwalkable and add a new section of battlements near there for snipers to stand on.

I love the map, especially the bomb, but my fps fucking tanks whenever i so much as walk out of spawn. It averages like 20-30 fps anywhere i go, especially bad near the middle areas. Will this be fixed at some point?
