The problem was there is a info_change_level entity brush needed for the nav-flow to compute the escape-route and it worked fine before I tweaked the navmesh by hand. Now it doesn't see the starting checkpoint anymore, despite neither touching it in Hammer or these navmeshes.

nav mesh stuff is independent of hammer, so its something with l4d2

Venting: I've been trying for the past 6 hours trying to make the BS finale work and at first it did... then I fixed some unrelated navmesh problems without touching the Finale or Checkpoint navmeshes, then it broke. No matter what I do, I get the No info_change_level error now.

It worked before, but now it doesn't? I didn't touch it in the editor for literally effing months and now it is not working anymore! I'm going to try something different... after I get some energy to finish this stupid map.

Considering I started to make a GMod doom level, then turned part of it into a css map (All private), guess I really like this style. It's funny, I actually considered making the infected be respawnable and decided to instead create horde waves instead.

Without the waves you can just explore the map with little resistance, then again each map does have a different design/structure with secrets here & there.

a lot of these feel like doom and quake maps, and feel like they share the same issues those maps have when ported into l4d. They aren't bad, but l4d isn't really that well designed for idle wandering and the director seems to actively punish it but also not spawn wandering commons until you find new ground.

I made some private stuff, like 4 CSS maps & a doom inspired gmod adventure map. Otherwise mapping takes a lot of time.

I am actually not sure when. I have decided to fully commit to this as a map pack/collection in the end. Meaning the last map is happening when I either reach the upload limit or when I am done making these experimental maps.

Lastly, the holdout event about halfway through the second map is still insane. The all riot cop horde + all roadcrew hordes are insane to deal with, especially considering the roadcrew will ignore grenades. Add that to uncommon infected having 3x more health than normal common infected, and yeah. It doesn't really matter what equipment you have, it can be toned down. 2/2

Pretty much same critique as last update. Some things I want to mention: the maps are interestingly laid out, but that can make them a bit confusing to navigate. Some example are trying to find the dev texture ladders against the dev texture orange walls. I recommend making them stand out more, either by using real ladder models, or just make them obvious with like lighting or something.
Also, I don't know if I bypassed it last time or if its new, but the second map has a part where you need to get through some bars to proceed. But the bars don't break immediately when hitting them, and they also give no feedback that they are taking damage, like with a sound. I thought it was a dead end and didn't realize I could break them until the special infected did it for me. 1/2

Well, as someone who likes playing Expert, having a sudden horde in such a tiny enclosed space where infected can drop down from above + special infected + riot zombies? Wasn't a pleasent surprise I'll say that.

Fair, however I like the tension & randomness of it. I am not aware how hard it feels if you don't know it is coming... considering I made the map.

Seems interesting so far. Would love to see more. My best advice so far: a horde event should preferably be triggered by the players themselves, or at least they should be aware it's about to happen. So for example in the second map, the holdout event should either have a button to start it, or it should tell the player "hey, if you approach, the horde will start" or something.

Good point, guess I'll add a third hint into map 2 real quick. My plan is to feature complete map 2 & finish the first working version of map 3, after that map 1 is getting a few additions. That is my current plan.

Well, it's a short but good campaign. Map 2 might need more hints or a switch on a door where a holdout event happens. In my play, I didn't know what to do & kept searching for either a switch or generator to open the door, but in the end the door opened by itself after holding out for certain minutes. . & as map 2 is still being updated, I hope that it could be extended & added with more events later. I'm looking forward to the next updates & next maps.

I plan to decorate later, that is all I am gonna say. The first is mostly complete, besides the planned story stuff. Map 2 has more interactive stuff at the moment, but the map isn't fully complete.
Map 3 might get jukebox and map 4 has a whole section about it.

I like the way you think, but perhaps you can use different colors in some areas? Also mayhaps populate the world with props for people who like prop mods?
