AI progress at a fixed pace depending on the games difficulty, not the same as you
AI do not have the same spawn stages as we do, instead multiple waves that spawn in until they don't
They have a script that determines the chances of a deployed unit being a certain type depending on the tech level unlocked. E.g an infantry squad has equal chance to be max tech level as it does lowest tech level, even when tech is maxed out
