@zyzyzyzyz, literally in the game for a while now
Zyzyx 29 Mar @ 4:53am
Been playing with beautiful races mods, but man this looks great, thanks for putting this into the main game.
Thingymajig 12 Sep, 2024 @ 4:54pm
Wow, these sprites look ace. Do you plan to have this catered to work when SoSyx hits 1.0? As a fellow interested pixel art fella, I have to commend your efforts a lot with these.

@Kafkatrap Nope. In this case, the opposite is true. This mod was made based on graphics that were not yet available (at the time of the mod's release) for regular players. This is an official mod with graphics that I didn’t have time to finish for build 65. I wrote about this in the description...

Based dev for adding well made mods to the game.
Krastor  [author] 26 Jun, 2024 @ 3:12am
@HenBlejdd, All these graphics, with minor improvements, have already been implemented into the main game. So this mod is not needed for v66.
HenBlejdd 25 Jun, 2024 @ 9:44am
update to v66?
Rhaeven 28 Apr, 2024 @ 6:26pm
@Krastor That might've been it, everything worked out. Thanks for the help!
Krastor  [author] 28 Apr, 2024 @ 5:05am
@Rhaeven The cause of the error may also be in the text file with races. And if there are other mods that overwrite the file and change the number of sprites.
Rhaeven 27 Apr, 2024 @ 12:40pm
@Krastor I tried to do so again by copy-pasting layers very carefully but still no clue how it cause the error since I didn't mess with the frames. Could it have something to do with the save format on paint.net?
Krastor  [author] 26 Apr, 2024 @ 9:32pm
@Rhaeven If you look at the text in the error, the image size in pixels has changed. Perhaps you accidentally cropped or added a couple of pixels. You need to find and fix this, or open the original image, carefully remove the old sprites without touching the frame and size, and move the new sprites to the place of the deleted ones.

Awesome work on the new portraits! I've come up with an issue though, I tried to make some personal adjustments to the Mustache.png file in "V66\assets\sprite\race\face" but when I'm trying to start a game it crashes and pops this error:
"java.lang.RuntimeException: 6 360is out of bounds 416 360".
I also made some adjustments to the Beards and it worked fine, it was only when I edited the Mustache that it begun crashing, Any ideas?

feral vs civilised dondorians
I use Arch GNU+Linux 23 Apr, 2024 @ 4:16pm
I feel like the Dondorians lost their character. I liked the wide open eyes that made them look insane.

Grtz on getting merged
Krastor  [author] 22 Apr, 2024 @ 4:35pm
Well, now these sprites are in the main game. But this can still be useful for people who stay on build 65.
I also read all the reviews about the portraits that I found and now I'm sure that I will return to work on them, even earlier than planned. In general, the reviews are positive, but among the criticisms, there were also correct thoughts with which I agree.

They are short, muscular and wide creatures. A kind of mixture of a troll and an orc, but 140cm tall and weighing 120kg. They have a big wide nose, but not a pig snout! Peace-loving. With coarse hair on his arms and chest. Perhaps we will make official concept art for all races, but this is not certain yet.
VonGott 19 Apr, 2024 @ 1:52pm
No matter what he says, they literally look like pigs/hogs. There is no way around this
pixel_rice_bowl 19 Apr, 2024 @ 10:10am
Cretonians are not pig people? That is surprising. What are they supposed to be? (I am working on a vegetable mod for Cretonians, so I'd like to learn more about them.)
Krastor  [author] 19 Apr, 2024 @ 12:46am
@CountingWizard They were fun, but not the way Jake imagined them.
Oh, there are still many surprises waiting for you. For example, Cretonians are not pig people, as almost everyone thought and as I thought before.

I polish icons, portraits, and much more. In fact, we expected a negative reaction to the icons, but we did not encounter a single negative review. And with portraits there are much more positive reviews, and negative ones are mainly based on the fact that people are simply used to the old ones, however, I also saw good criticism, which I took into account and before patch 1.0 I will work a little more on portraits. And yes, I will add those crazy eyes to the Dondorians. But later, now there are more priority tasks.
CountingWizard 18 Apr, 2024 @ 8:16pm
What have you done to my dwarves! My beautiful boys! The originals look like they seen some shit, which makes sense because they live underground living off of psychoactive mushrooms and partying with balrogs.
Liwosz 18 Apr, 2024 @ 2:15am
@Krastor Ok i just put your mod at top of the list of mods and works. Thanks!
Krastor  [author] 18 Apr, 2024 @ 2:11am
@Liwosz Who knows. Other mods may overwrite this one.
Liwosz 17 Apr, 2024 @ 11:47pm
i have this mod enabled, buy my sprites not changed. why?
Holy Doggo 17 Apr, 2024 @ 4:00pm
@Tonic easiest way is to get an image editing software of your choice and just start drawing! Its pixel art so while it has its own unique difficulties, it is far easier to learn!
Tonic 16 Apr, 2024 @ 10:26pm
Ah fair enough, thank you
Krastor  [author] 16 Apr, 2024 @ 10:23pm
@Tonic Unfortunately, there are no such tools and everything should be done by hand.
Tonic 16 Apr, 2024 @ 10:14pm
if i wanted to make my own sprites is there a good tool to edit sprite sheets? or did you just manually edit the boxes? btw i dont mean a program like gimp i more mean the way the final image is made, like an exporter tool or something
Fion 15 Apr, 2024 @ 2:13am
@Krastor Woohoo! That's awesome! Thanks for responding! Very happy about this upgrade! Great job on the portraits! Can't play without them now. :)
Krastor  [author] 14 Apr, 2024 @ 5:42pm
@Fion, These portraits are taken from build 66, which will be released soon. So these portraits will be in the original game in the coming days.
Fion 14 Apr, 2024 @ 8:58am
I have been using this for the past week and I don't think I could ever go back to the originals. This mod is so damn good that I wish it was integrated into the game itself.
Merkwürdigliebe 2 Apr, 2024 @ 1:03pm
Great work I was worried the design was going to get changed too much based on the new icons, these look the same just better.
~zenith~ 1 Apr, 2024 @ 5:57am
This is amazing. Good work!
Krastor  [author] 29 Mar, 2024 @ 11:36pm
Yeah, I'm also glad to have the opportunity to work on SoS. I love this game and hope I can help Jake make it even better =)
TheLoneCenturion 29 Mar, 2024 @ 3:49pm
Oh! You made Krastorio, I thought that name sounded familiar, good to see you here in Songs of Syx :)
noisrevnI 28 Mar, 2024 @ 4:45am
This is amazing, the fact that this will become "official" in the next version is showing a very promising improvement in the future. To me, Tilapi's portrait design already good even in old version, the new version actually make their beauty truly shining. The rest just got significant glow up.
DynaMo+Krill 27 Mar, 2024 @ 6:27pm
I always thought the vanilla sprites looked good, until I saw this. Makes em even better
Krastor  [author] 27 Mar, 2024 @ 5:53pm
Thanks, guys for the kind words! <3
forsakenmyhonour 27 Mar, 2024 @ 1:58pm
These are really good!! Might actually get me to play more with the base game races rather than the classic races mod
Tagaris 27 Mar, 2024 @ 1:56pm
This really raises the bar.
Fiend 27 Mar, 2024 @ 1:03pm
You're amazing brother
Rohzdear 27 Mar, 2024 @ 12:56pm
They look great! More variety in the appearance of races is always welcome!
