Seems to have a bug in caravan formation could be related to other mods or something I'm not to sure unless someone has a similar issue. It's the only VF mod I have used so far so could be related to that.
When I load up the boat if I have multiple of the same thing i'm loading the pawns loading the boat will always load EVERY number of that item regardless of what I set it too.

For example if I have 2k silver and try to load 1k to go trade it will always load all the silver. Most notably when I overgrow crops usually in the early game I can't fit it in the freezer so i load them up to take to sell but if I have 2k corn and only want to load 500 it loads 2k and the boat is too heavy to leave.
It also does it with any medicine or meals that get loaded for the trip taking everything the colony has of that item.

Regular Caravans with animals and people don't do this however.

Thanks for this useful mod. We will be patient until your next update. Except for the previous reported problems down here, everything works fine.

It all depends on Vehicle Framework, I haven't looked at it in awhile and I'll need to see what needs to be added to these vehicles, and what is even possible these days.

Do not use this mod until it has been updated. As others have pointed out, your caravan can leave your colony but cannot interact with its destination.

I can't leave with the boat, I'm on an island and the boat has access out but every time I try to set a caravan the pawns immediately go back to what they were doing before. It tells me that they are getting ready in the corner note but they never start.

Don't think this works for 1.4 anymore. Boats can be loaded and sent out, but you can't land on empty zones. You have to land on occupied spaces, and from there, when you return to base you are unable to move your full caravan as it's stuck without a clear path to move, even if there is one. This has been my experience, anyone getting this to work as intended?

Does anyone know how to do a mixed caravan? (Where they take the boat to shore and walk the way to the goal) so far they won't even let me set way points

I believe now some or all of the vehicle frameworks boats can go on the rivers. Will this one get that function?

So I'm doing an island play-through meaning these boats are a necessity! I just loaded a caravan onto the paddle boat that uses fuel, I set the pawn to drive it towards land, he got to the land and yet i was unable to have him exit the boat and or reform a caravan to continue towards the quest. i try to click on the quest and have him enter\move towards it and he completely disapeared from my settlement list for pawns. What went wrong? Why?

I did a caravan with the caravel, and loaded a lot of food, but my pawns ended up starving only a day in, I don’t know if I’m doing it wrong or it’s the mod?

hey, i was thinking that it would be nice if there's a possibility to make pawns use the small boats on their own to get from one side to the other side without player intervention. all of this in the same map. it's just a tough; this way boats could improve efficience and its usefulness. thanks for all!

That error is being reported by others on the Vehicle Framework Discord as well, it's not specific to this mod.

also, it kicks everyone out the boat which means that if you're on the map border everyone gets teleport-ed off the deep ocean water and the boat is left there accessible.

I saw that this problem was already reported.I am uninstalling.

Additional Boat Proposal: Upscale a vessel fit for exploration and colonization.
I guess the gimmicks could be, more cargo, and passengers, at the expense of allocating more resources? ( alot of trees.)
Purpose: To sustain a population at sea for longer voyages, for us players that like to explore and resettle.

That is probably worth reporting to the author of Vehicle Framework; I don't do anything special in this mod, just use the VF basics. There's still a ton of bug fixes going on. Thanks for the report.

Loving the mod so far, but there's a "but" - I had one quest go off without a hitch. After that though, whenever the boat lands after I hit the 'approach the quest' , I get a message that whatever quest I'm doing has failed as soon as I reach it.
Do I need to uninstall this mod and framework before every quest?

I had the same problem as angelbread22 but on a coastal temperate forest. It turned out that to create a ship caravan, I think I had to start the caravan without the crew and cargo being inside it and have them load into it after confirming they were going with a boat. I hope this helps.

Hello! I'm having an issue where it won't let me create a caravan and embark from an atoll or island. ^__^ I asked in island biomes as well, as I have both mods installed.

I like that your mod adds a paddle steamer. I feel like Romworld could use more steam age technology options. Now, I apologize for being that annoying guy who asks about potential stuff, but do you have plans for adding armed 1800's ships. Something like a Pre-Dreadnought battleship would certainly be way beyond the scale of a Rimworld colony. But Ironclad river monitors might be more plausible, if you stretch it a bit.

I am stretching them in the draw sizes for a few boats I think. I hope to be able to take a pass at this mod soon for an update, life is incredibly busy at the moment.

Is there a way to edit the values on the different ships for cargo capacity, speed, etc? Maybe with a mod setting? I know the way they're set currently is for balance purposes but i'd prefer to tweak them from save to save or based on personal preference.

Sure, the more advanced boats are locked by various research but the Fishing Boat and Rowboat should be available.
