Humongouspntl, bed quality is determined by what you are sleeping on, whether it be a chair, couch, matress, bed, or anything else you can sleep on. This is determined by the Zomboid itself. Comfy Sleeping only calculates the 'comfort' value you see underneath the bed quality.

If you're waking up in the middle of the night, its either your comfort is at 'poor' or 'very poor' then that might be Comfy Sleeping. If not, its either the vanilla game waking you up from distant gunshots/screams/windows breaking, or another mod.

To raise your characters comfort, make sure their moodles are taken care of, wear more comfortable clothing (clothes with sheets for their fabric are best, denim is a bit uncomfy, and leather is quite uncomfy), and that their bag is taken off.

i keep waking up when my bed is not poor its average. can someone help me?
Fluffy89  [author] 25 Jul @ 9:39pm
QS, glad to have helped to explain it then! If theres any other things you need me to explain in better detail, feel free to leave another comment :)
QS 25 Jul @ 7:47pm
@Fluffy89 thanks a lot, it's clear to me now
Fluffy89  [author] 25 Jul @ 1:40pm
To reiterate just to make sure things are as clear as I can make them, moodle modifiers of +10 and -20 in your example would change that respective moodles comfort modifier by up to +40 or -80.
Fluffy89  [author] 25 Jul @ 11:46am
QS, for the comfort modifiers, note that they are per 'level' of that moodle. So for example, being well fed gives +2 comfort per level for a total of +8 comfort when you are well fed (positive version of hunger moodle should have 4 levels, but I'm not 100% sure).

Same for negative moodles, being moist only removes 2 comfort, while being soaked (or whatever the max moodle for wet is called) removes 8.

Changing moddle modifiers to +10 or -20 would more or less 'break' things, as being well fed would then give 40 comfort, and being wet would remove 80. I advise keeping these in the low or mid single digit numbers.

Hope this helps explain it a bit, if not, feel free to leave another comment :spiffo:
QS 25 Jul @ 5:17am
How do I understand how much 100 comfort is in sandbox settings?
Like for example well-fed gives +2 comfort, but +2 is so little it seems it wouldn't affect anything. If I raise it up to +10, will it destroy the balance because it's 5 times more or it will not?
Or another weird thing, if hat being worn is -15 comfort, how come, for example, being wet is only -2? Is being wet not super nasty and that way it should be like -20? Or -2 is actually a decent discomfort value?
Stefyn 15 Jul @ 6:23pm
alright thanks
Fluffy89  [author] 15 Jul @ 6:04pm
Ah, I see. The clock being wonky and either passing by faster/slower than usual isn't caused by Comfy Sleeping, I believe I've had a friend experience this a while back on a multiplayer server we had going, so its likely just a small PZ bug.

Hope this helps! :spiffo:
Stefyn 15 Jul @ 5:58pm
also im on B42, and yes with the mod off it happens sometimes
Stefyn 15 Jul @ 5:57pm
no no the 5:50 is set by me on my watch for when i want to wake up its just confusing since sometimes the time goes really fast or slow
Fluffy89  [author] 15 Jul @ 5:32pm
Hmm.. not sure off the top of my head? If you're always going to sleep at midnight, and always wake up 6h later, the only way Comfy Sleeping could be doing this is:

- Your comfort is 'snug as a bug', and at exacty 5:50AM is when being comfortable wakes you up a bit early.

- Your comfort is 'Poor', and you're waking up 6h later. If this is whats happening, you should be fatigued and exerted still due to the poor comfort resulting in poor quality sleep.

Are you on the unstable branch for B42, or playing on B41? Have you experienced the same issue with Comfy Sleeping disabled on your save?
Stefyn 15 Jul @ 5:25pm
guys a question, why is it that sometimes the time during in which i sleep in game passes super fast (around 5 seconds from when i sleep to waking up) and sometimes it goes slowly (around 10 to 15 seconds from when i go to sleep to waking up)
its almost always the same time
12 AM
to 5:50 AM
I dont know if it has to do with this mod, i dont run traits that affect sleep positively or negatively.
Fluffy89  [author] 7 Jul @ 4:22pm
stumbix, I appreciate the compliment despite the frustration its caused.

Is the mod infuriating by the nature of what it does, or has it been behaving improperly?
stumbix 7 Jul @ 2:38am
good mod but infuriates me to my core
Fluffy89  [author] 16 Jun @ 4:25pm
SilverVixen, as far as I know, yes ComfySleeping should have no issues with Sleep With Friends.
SilverVixen 16 Jun @ 12:41pm
guessing this is compatible with Sleep With Friends?
Fluffy89  [author] 23 May @ 6:53pm
ALL2, I had happened to look a few minutes after your comment, so good timing on your part lol

SecretFear, you're welcome!
SecretFear 23 May @ 6:28pm
Thank you so much! That's an awesome update.
ALL2 23 May @ 5:17pm
wow that was quick thanks
Fluffy89  [author] 23 May @ 4:49pm
ALL2, done. Update should be live.
ALL2 23 May @ 3:57pm
can we get a compat for the pillows from mandarin's bedding?
DæmonMax | Felippe 18 May @ 9:31am
Allright, I'll install the True Actions, and i guess it will work right away with your mode, since looks compatible. Many many thanks!!!! :steamhappy: I'll be in touch if any doubts surface.
Fluffy89  [author] 15 May @ 4:52pm
DæmonMax | Felippe, firstly, thank you and Im glad you're enjoying it! Secondly, no, Comfy Sleeping doesn't contain any animations. I have zero idea how to create them, let alone how they're implemented by a mod into PZ.

The animation used in the thumbnail for Comfy Sleeping is from one of the True Actions mods for sitting and laying. I know its for b41, but I'm unsure if its been updated for b42, or if theres another mod with similar functions.
DæmonMax | Felippe 15 May @ 10:32am
Helo There @Fluffy89! Nice MOD, only question is there also included in the mod an animation of sleeping (like the thumbnail) in beds or sofas? I was looking for mods that alow that behaviour, so we won't have olny to seat to rest "as sleep/rest" option... that brakes completly the game immersion, even when sleep is server mandatory. For me that should be essential in game and 'im not playing beta now, but should be a must have even for MP.
Fluffy89  [author] 9 May @ 12:29pm
If you find reproducible steps to cause the issue, that'd help a ton too with pinpointing exactly where the issue is and why its being caused.
Fluffy89  [author] 9 May @ 12:29pm
Diablomel, my best guess right now is theres still something not quite right with how Comfy Sleeping calculates your comfort, at least while sleeping and adjusting your fatigue and exertion.

As far as I know and can tell, there *shouldn't* be any hard incompatibilities with any mod, as Comfy Sleeping doesn't change any vanilla files or code that would totally break its base functionality. At worst, the Sleep context options UI might fail to report the comfort level and pillow status, but that should be it. I don't see a way for the mentioned 'Antibodies v1.92' to be incompatible.

May also be an issue with how Comfy Sleeping gets started and initialises things in the background... I reorganized a bunch of the code and ended up creating a bug that basically broke the mod for a while, but that should've been fixed in one of the last updates.
Diablomel 9 May @ 4:15am
Hey Fluffy,

Might think it's a compatibility issue, first off I was thinking about ''Antibodies v1.92'' that lets you heal the knox virus by treating yourself (eating well, sleeping, hygiene) etc.
I'm doing a 300+ mods game atm, might be something else tho'.

I tried to re-make a character and same applies to him, but I was not bitten and so my theory about antibodies fkng up your mod is kinda not applying...

Don't know how to help through this
Fluffy89  [author] 8 May @ 1:29pm
Diablomel, I've had a few reports of similar issues, but am unable to track down the cause as to why its happening. Assuming you haven't adjusted the sandbox options for the penalties each level of discomfort applies, 0.4 endurance and fatigue at 0.7 is 'Very Poor' comfort.

Assuming your character reports as 'ok' or 'snug as a bug' in the sleeping context menu when going to sleep, there should be no reason this is happening, so I'm a bit lost with what is happening.

I've never been able to find any steps to reproduce this issue in my own saves and I've been playing with Comfy Sleeping since I uploaded it... If anyone runs into the issue and could give steps leading up to the issue, or reproduce-able steps to cause the issue, it would be a massive help to figuring out what is causing this bug.
Diablomel 8 May @ 8:09am
This mod had for my game a very annoying - gamebreaking bug and it took me hours (because I'm a poor modder) to find out it was the cause .. I'll explain in case somebody has it too.

In the first gameplay hours no problem, I can sleep and my fatigue and endurance will go up and down as normal.

After several hours, for no reason (maybe Antibodies mod is causing the incompatibility) I sleep and fatigue's blocked at 0.70 (so my status is tired, always) and endurance doesn't recover too, (blocked at 0.40, so I'm exhausted always).

I fixed it by disabling for my save this Comfy Sleeping mod.

You're welcome if I helped.
Fluffy89  [author] 17 Apr @ 8:00am
KritXwing, no worries, glad you like it though! :spiffo:

Possibly, could be PZ, or a hidden bug or something with Comfy Sleeping. Figuring that out or debugging another persons situation is a bit difficult though haha.
the bonk fades 16 Apr @ 10:38pm
I removed it from my hosted game and we could sleep well again. I'm not blaming you tho, I love your mod! It's probably just PZ's spaghetti code
Fluffy89  [author] 16 Apr @ 10:10pm
KritZwing, Comfy Sleeping can only force you awake at very poor and poor comfort levels, if enabled in the sandbox options. If you're cleaned up and in comfortable clothing, this shouldn't cause issues.

I've had sleep bug out a few times in MP, and to my knowledge, restless sleeper doesn't work as intended like it does in SP, but I could be wrong.

Could be a one off thing or game bug, but if you find out odd behaviour with Comfy Sleeping specifically, do let me know.
the bonk fades 16 Apr @ 9:19pm
Probably a bad mix between this mod + buggy mp sleep + restless trait
the bonk fades 16 Apr @ 9:09pm
Me and my friend are having problems to sleep, we don't know why tho. Our characters wake up every hour, tired and in pain. We always sleep clean and without any gear on, and also on a bed with pillows
Fluffy89  [author] 15 Apr @ 7:26am
HAL#9000, I haven't used that feature much, terrified my inventory will get deleted or something, but I do agree!

That is part of Lifestyle though, so yes it would fall on the other mod author to implement the wardrobe function for tents and other sleeping locations, if they choose to of course.
H A L #9000 15 Apr @ 1:13am
I think your mod really works together with Lifestyle: Hobbies, since you can use wardrobes to quickly switch from sleep and work gear sets or other. But would be nice that this feature was extended to other places you can sleep like tents or cars too. Probably it's on his end changing this though.
Fluffy89  [author] 14 Apr @ 8:16pm
HAL #9000, no worries, and you're welcome!
H A L #9000 14 Apr @ 1:23pm
Never mind, I saw there is the option to lower the tiredness based on comfort in the sandbox options! Thanks a lot
Fluffy89  [author] 14 Apr @ 1:17pm
HAL #9000, can you elaborate a bit? Are you meaning disabling the option of being forced awake when uncomfortable?
H A L #9000 14 Apr @ 7:51am
Is there any way to reduce or disable the effect of tiredness on wake up only? or make it take longer to recover the sleep when uncomfortable
Fluffy89  [author] 12 Apr @ 8:14am
sTiKyt, most poeple don't sleep with clothes and backpacks on in reality, this mod is meant to simulate that by causing fatigue and exertion if what you're wearing ian't considered light/comfortable. Its not going to be a perfect replication of reality, and wasn't intendes as so.

Sorry the mod wasn't for you, and best of luck in your survival adventures!
sTiKyt 12 Apr @ 5:21am
Makes my character wake up tired if i don't undress when sleeping, unrealistic, i'm removing it.. It would make sense for some pain in neck and/or muscles, but tired? really? I've slept in a ton of clother IRL and i'm not friggin tired after i SLEEP
Fluffy89  [author] 5 Apr @ 9:51am
jamie bertle, what game version are you playing on? Does it happen every time, or what are you doing beforehand that reproduces the issue? Does removing ComfySleeping fix the issue? Does the issue happen with only ComfySleeping installed and enabled?
jamie bertle 4 Apr @ 9:29pm
when i put my chara to sleep. the game gets all laggy and slow.the clock that pops up when your chara sleeps takes forever to pop up as well. to a point were the only way to continue is to restart the game
Fluffy89  [author] 3 Apr @ 8:16pm
AnomNom, glad to hear! :spiffo:

jamie bertle, slowed down how so? Does the update between changing clothing and seeing your comfort level update appear slow? Should be no issue with Lifestyle, I use it as well and all appears well.
jamie bertle 3 Apr @ 7:48pm
sleep func has slowed down so much, i have to quit and reload my game.does this mod have conflict with life style mod? or something else
AnomNom 3 Apr @ 11:10am
this mod makes the game so much more immersive and i love it so much
Fluffy89  [author] 29 Mar @ 12:15pm
Tarious, if I do figure out the reason the UI doesn't update properly, then I'll 100% get that fixed since it also bothers me lol.

To you too, have a wonderful day!
Tarious 28 Mar @ 11:18am
Thank you so much for clarifying, I can absolutely live with the UI issue, I just wanted cute animations with my comfort factor. It's kind of you to consider a fix for it though! Have a lovely day.
