lots of small rooms, felt like it was designed as a shotgun only map lol. that fight with the suppressor was bs but the concept of being suddenly thrown into a big arena is cool!!

Hi I am really glad you decided to share your thoughts. The scope of the map was really small and the original version main goal was to showcase npc joke remodels. I know the big fight is overwhelming and that's how I wanted it to be. I completely agree with you about the rummaging stuff (that's how I like to play) but believe me some people just miss a lot of items. I made some items easier to find because of that.

There were some good things about it, but it was too short and lacked a story-line.

The big fight is bullshit. You need to set that up better. Have them pour into the room over time, rather than an instant overwhelming fight. I don't mind dying in the game, but it was annoying. I think it could be quite fun to have waves of combine attack you, but this just felt like the enemy was cheating.

The ammo and resin should be hidden in reasonable locations. Do you keep your ammo all over the house out in the open? It's weird. Think about who put things where and why. Make everything a story. The guns should be locked up or well hidden. Players typically rummage through everything, so they'll find it.

Story is first. Everything else is secondary.

My other maps like Xombies, Xen Voyager or Vorts' Lair took only around 100h each

Hi, if I remember correctly, it took between 300 and 400 hours to create the original version. The amount of time it takes to create a map can really vary depending on what you want to create. In the case of this map, I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do and most of the time it didn't satisfy me, so I just waited for the ideas to "mature". I've been playing with making maps since the day the workshop tools were made available to the public. I hope this knowledge will help you and I look forward for your portfolio map!

Great map! How much time did you spent making this map? How much experience do you have with alyx workshop tool? I'm currently making a map as one of my portfolio projects, so I think it will be helpful. thx

Ok guys you won I am renaming the map :steamhappy: I am really glad you've enjoyed playing it. Today I've finally made a small update that includes some fixes for issues that were reported in the comments section so a big thanks to everyone. I am still working on the map, my main goal now is decorating the top floor, maybe creating a new section and updating the original version so it's 1:1 with Absolution. My pc is finally ready to compile maps and I hope I will finish the changes quickly.

Hey Neon, very good job. Gotta tell you though, I wouldn't have tried this mod based on it's title except for comments by Skummeh, Arokh, etal. Perhaps you mean a tongue in cheek 😏 comment, but i think you've got some real talent, keep going it's looking real good...

Nice remake, Neon! Every combat section was nicely stressful and felt unique as compared to typical encounters. Limiting us to the pistol was a great choice as the other weapons would have robbed the tension quickly. Wait, did you actually manage to get inside that room with nyan cat? Please explain me how. That room wasn't meant for the player to explore haha I will try to fix it. As for the resin, I wanted to assist the players a little bit and also give them a choice how they want to play (pistol upgrades) so I handed resin to them on a plate but there are some hidden ones (Trough my multiple playtesting sessions most of the time I couldn't finish the map with finding all resin even if I tried to, maybe it's a skill issue :winter2019happyyul:).

Yeah, really fun little experience, I think I recall various elements from when I played it last time. Only giving a pistol makes the fights pretty tough, but for it being so short, it works well. I actually don't mind the resin being in 5's, but try to hide them in a bit more harder to spot areas, it makes it more worthwhile for them.
Also, I almost got stuck in the nyan cat room at the end, I had to crouch in the corner of the hole in the wall and teleport onto the bush to get out, consider putting a box back there, or not let people (idiots like me) get back there?

Well made! Interesting combat, lots of resin but all in 5 packs. Maybe too much ammo considering how short it is, but it's good fun. Biggest issue was I that I got some real bad loading in some areas, but the combat all ran smoothly. I'd bet it was all the bouncy balls loading in lmao

I was gonna say you shouldn't call it shitty cuz it's gonna scare some people off... then I found the amogus. Nyan.

Very nice map, well thought out and I enjoyed the fights a lot. I can't remember the last time I had to crouch behind a vehicle at such a cramped angle just to avoid the suppressor while shooting everything else. Even months later after playing the first version of the map, it was nice noticing all the improvements.
