I've gone a good two or three ingame hours hiding before due to excessive sprinters (Cause I like pain).
So depending on your game settings, she should be okay to hide for AT LEAST an hour or two ingame wise. Real time I was under a bed for thirty minutes, granted I was hungry after but not dying.
I think it doesn't do the "hide" function correctly.
