I have the same crash as @Diet Pepsi Cola
It happens regardless of player faction and only if you use USA as opponent.
The log says:

[00:03:55] [LUA] Syntax Error: [string "/script/multiplayer/units/usa/conquest.usa.lu..."]:407: '}' expected (to close '{' at line 3) near '{' (file /script/multiplayer/units/usa/conquest.usa.lua)

I changed the load order in my save file, made a completly new one and changed the load order in the options.set file. They are all set correct but it still crashes with the same error as above.

@Diet Pepsi Cola I don't seem to have an issue loading in with a fresh USA campaign. Do you have the correct activation order? Double check using method 1 above. Also is there anything in Documents\My Games\gates of hell\log\game.log immediately after crash?

USA faction causes crash when loading regardless of opponent nation or map. cant get crash report either

i didnt get any errors when doing ingame activation and it says all 3 are active but how should everything look? right now it says MACE at the main menu. I am not sure if there should be some kind of identifier to say its all working

@Primarch sarge I'm unlikely to modify the multiplayer part as long as it doesn't crash. I believe there's a mod that has all the MACE units in the buy menu, you could try use that for skirmish by enabling it as the 5th or 3rd in mod order.

I think the first crash log might just have been a mod incompatibility thing, since when I use only valour, mace and this mod it stopped but the research one while using the coalition option at conquests start is still occurring
