@Red Wolf There were no Audio Engine Changes in 1.50 nor do I lock my engines to be compatible with a specific version of the game.
Red Wolf 16 May, 2024 @ 8:58pm
is 1.50 yet?
Valentine 6 May, 2024 @ 4:24pm
Ah, okay. Thanks anyways
JVPTh3MVP  [author] 6 May, 2024 @ 4:22pm
@Valentine It can but I only do OEM factory ratings. I've spent a fair bit of time and money acquiring reference materials for engines and I intend to only present the historical ratings offered.
Valentine 6 May, 2024 @ 3:39pm
Aw, so it couldn't be tuned or anything?
JVPTh3MVP  [author] 6 May, 2024 @ 2:49pm
@Valentine No, 525 was the highest rating offered.
Valentine 28 Apr, 2024 @ 8:07am
Hey I was wondering if the N14 could possibly make 550 HP?
kemetic7GoD4 17 Apr, 2024 @ 7:12pm
Thanks @JVPTh3MVP
Valentine 12 Apr, 2024 @ 4:48pm
@JVPTh3MVP Alright thank you and keep up the good work
JVPTh3MVP  [author] 10 Apr, 2024 @ 6:35pm
@Valentine I mean people used to run over 100 with less than 500HP back in the 70s and 80s. The problem is the game scale. Most the time the distance to get up to 100 like it was done is a much farther staight away than the game has since the scale is 1/20th. If you want a better trucking experience, put the stability and suspension sliders all the way down. 65 on a turn will feel much faster when one side of your truck is about to come off the ground on what seems to be a usual bend.
Valentine 10 Apr, 2024 @ 1:50pm
@JVPTh3MVP Do you think it would get 80 thousand pounds up to 100 MPH atleast?
JVPTh3MVP  [author] 9 Apr, 2024 @ 10:15am
@Valentine I make engine mods based on factory ratings only . The N14 CELECT Plus was only offered up to 525HP 1850 lb-ft of torque. I would recommend downloading on e of Fur6's transmission mods and choosing a lower rear end if you are shy on power. For example, I spec'd a Classic XL Freightliner with the 460HP 1650 lb-ft rating with an 8LL and 4.63 rears and am able to do 60 while pulling a transformer.
JVPTh3MVP  [author] 9 Apr, 2024 @ 10:04am
@kemetic7GoD4 I plan on reworking this mod to bring it in line with the attenuation of the 1LW 3406E and when I do I'll be using a different Jake Brake sample.
Valentine 24 Mar, 2024 @ 10:59am
Could we get more horse power and maybe better sounding jakes? Thank you!
kemetic7GoD4 23 Dec, 2023 @ 5:00am
motor sound nice and real but jakes sounded goofy and horrible no where close lmao
JVPTh3MVP  [author] 3 Sep, 2023 @ 10:17am
@xt487tx No problem. I've just been around these engines a fair bit and wanted to capture the sheer volume of a borderline straight piped engine. Once I get on to newer engines post Y2K they will begin to be quieter as they are in the real world.
xt487tx 30 Aug, 2023 @ 1:14pm
Thanks for the response!
It explains the volume difference and what you wre going for.
You have done that.
My older nerves like quieter sounds.
Will try again with less volume.
JVPTh3MVP  [author] 16 Aug, 2023 @ 11:04pm
@xt487tx This mod uses Kreichbaum's samples but they are not identical. For starters I've converted them from mono to give them more depth; adjusted the bass and treble of each to a realistic level; and the overall mix in Fmod is different. This mod is as loud as it is as this is how loud a straight piped truck is, where it can be heard clearly over half a mile away. Most mods simply do not convey the volume of sound a heavy duty diesel engine makes and that is what I've sought to recreate in my mods. The mod is based on the sliders being at the default position, so the overall volume slider at 75% and all other sliders at 50%, setting them higher will lead to an improper audio experience. When I test my engine sound mods, I do so with a headset and my PC volume set at 50%. Newer engines, particularly those after 2010 are pretty quiet by comparison but older engines could really sing when straight piped.
xt487tx 14 Aug, 2023 @ 5:46am
kriechbaum's N14 is my favorite sound for engines.
If this is his, it doesn't sound right. It maybe, but its way to loud in game compared to others.
Perhaps turn it down to match other engines.
Otherwise its constant audio adjustments when switching trucks.
Good sound though!
kbh8271959 4 Aug, 2023 @ 9:23am
I just added this engine to the K100e and fell in love with it. The game is so much more fun now. I've tried to keep the game as realistic as possible and this is fantastic. Thank you for this mod
JVPTh3MVP  [author] 7 Jul, 2023 @ 10:55pm
@They Call Me Joint Glad ya like it! I've bought quite a few brochures to get the actual torque and HP curve specs along with Jake Brake strength and clutch engagement torque. I've worked at multiple truck centers and I just felt that few mods truly captured how loud some diesels can be. Personally, I have all my sound sliders set to default and I play with headphones with the PC volume set at either 50% or 60% to get that realistic audio level. I'll admit this one is a bit louder than a typical N14 but I'm pretty happy with it. Newer engines willl get progressively quieter as trucks these days really have gotten quite quiet. I'm currently working on The M11 CELECT Plus and will move on to the 3406E then DDEC III Series 60. That 4.11 with a 13 speed would be apetty good spec, all the heavy hauls we ordered had 4.11s with 18 speeds.
JVPTh3MVP  [author] 7 Jul, 2023 @ 10:30pm
@majormitchell01 I'm actually not even using a physics mod, I've just got my sliders for the truck physics set in the middle. I may have had the suspension set all the way down to the lowest stiffness during that video and I was hauling a heavy B Double load.
Joint The Remembrancer 27 Jun, 2023 @ 12:15pm
my only complaint is its just Loud Enough for Realism . what i expect to hear in the truck IRL . which i personally like but the vast majority that plays has not been around diesel engines under load and may not be as fond of the sound of a screaming diesel climbing a grade . many of whom drive mommys toyota to work and dont have any concept for how loud equipment can be .IRL i have maintained a fleet of aging diesel salvage yard equipment . a real straight piped 4bt cummings will blow your ears out at 1100 rpms in the cab Keep up the great work !
Joint The Remembrancer 27 Jun, 2023 @ 12:10pm
ive been using it for 2 days and have fell in love . great realism (using your 525 hp -1850 ft lbs ) its one of the more realistic set ups ive used when paired to an eaton fuller RTLO 13 speed with 4.11 rear final drive ive got close to 3400 hours on this game and it has been one of the most enjoyable engine mods ive played with . it sounds good . it pulls good and it responds very accurately without deadspots like we see in other engine mods where they fall flat on their face at 1600rpm then magically come alive at 2100rpms . i role play the game as an equipment hauler and this is perfect for it . walks 98,000 lbs right up a hill in my tri axle pete 389 the most ive pulled so far was 380,468 lbs (benson end dump trailer mod , pulling doubles full loaded with lime stone) AND SHE WOULDNT BACK DOWN . meanest sounding 16 mph ive ever seen .
majormitchell01 23 Jun, 2023 @ 8:12pm
what suspension mod r u using or physics mod?
raynor10sq 15 Jun, 2023 @ 3:17pm
Best sound of N14 but mod is too loud for me.
Sr 30 May, 2023 @ 1:49am
I hope there will be some new engines for Volve VNL 860 plz, thanks for your contributions.
Mr.SmashySquirrel 25 May, 2023 @ 9:12am
anything worth having takes waiting for so no trouble there not like the games going anywhere.
JVPTh3MVP  [author] 24 May, 2023 @ 10:09pm
@istabppl While it seems like such a far off goal, I would *eventually* like to make sound mods for basically every engine put in trucks. I've been making the def files for engines since 2020 dating all the way back to the 1950's with a total of 986 ratings having been made over 171 different engine families. Right now I'm working on an adjacent engine to the N14 CELECT Plus and will probably do the DDEC III 12.7L Series 60 and 3406E before I do any more modern engines. I will say I do already have the def files for all post Y2K Cummins (X15, ISX15, ISX EGR, ISX, Signature, X12, ISX12, ISM EGR, ISM, L9, ISL, ISC) Caterpillar (C15 ACERT, C13 ACERT, C11 ACERT, C9 ACERT, C-16, C-15, C-12, C-10) and Detroit Diesel (DD15 Gen 5, DD13 Gen 5, DD16 Gen 2, DD15 Gen 2, DD13 Gen 2, DDEC IV 14L Series 60, MBE 4000 Gen 2, MBE 4000, DDEC III 14L Series 60, DDEC III 12.7L Series 60) I just have to make the sounds which while most will be derived from existing sounds, will still take a while.
Mr.SmashySquirrel 22 May, 2023 @ 4:03pm
are you makeing a mod for the newer scs trucks their engines are not great and the lack of decent mods for them makes them no fun to use
JVPTh3MVP  [author] 19 Apr, 2023 @ 6:51pm
Glad you like it
(OTR) 0xferd™ 16 Apr, 2023 @ 10:31am
Honestly isn't bad, but the turbo however sounds good.
I usually like listening to a turbo sound when ever I drive a truck.
JVPTh3MVP  [author] 14 Apr, 2023 @ 1:27pm
The 5700XE has the Detroit Diesel DD13, DD15, and DD16 as options, same with the 57X. The 49X has those three as well as the Cummins X12 and X15. I will be making sound mods for all engines eventually, though some will be 'derivatives' where I use existing sounds from a different engine to make the sounds so while they will sound similar to some degree they will still be two different sounds. The next engine I'm working on is the Cummins M11 CELECT Plus which have it's sounds derived from my N14.
BasseMan2016 12 Apr, 2023 @ 10:43pm
I don't know US trucks. I'm from Denmark, I just want better sound for the new western stars trucks. I don't know what engine they have in real life.
JVPTh3MVP  [author] 12 Apr, 2023 @ 11:29am
@BasseMan2016 All of my mods will only have the engine in trucks that it was actually put in. If you can find a posting or listing where the N14 CELECT Plus was put in a certain truck, I'll add it. But I won't add it if the model doesn't reflect correctly , so anything with a DEF tank will not have this engine.
BasseMan2016 11 Apr, 2023 @ 1:15pm
more scs trucks like Western Star please. :steamhappy:
