Pirate invasion is missing from the config; it'd be nice to disable them since I already have everything from the event + am playing a journey mode "collect all items" run right now, and invasions I've already 100%'ed are just getting in the way of 100%ing other things.

I looked around and found some common issues people have with the acid rain event:
Did you generate the world with calamity (/only calamity) enabled? Did you try in single-player? Do any players have a barrier (i.e. rover diver) equipped?
If you still have issues, I recommend joining the calamity discord server and asking for help in the #help-advice-read-pins channel.

You can manually summon the acid rain using a caustic tear (https://calamitymod.wiki.gg/wiki/Caustic_Tear) . You can use a mod like cheatsheet to add a caustic tear into your inventory.

The issue could be another mod affecting the slime rain, this mod not hiding the slime rain effect in the background when finished or some weird edge case situation.
I imagine it wouldn't be worth your time trying to fix this issue. Regardless, I still willing to try to find the issue if you consider it to be a significant issue.
If you want to rule out a possible mod incompatibility, please provide a list of mods you are currently using. This list should appear if you type "/modlist" into the terraria chat while in game.
Does stopping other events (in multiplayer) like bloodmoons or pumpkin moons work? The code for stopping these events is essentially the same as the slime rain.
Of course, if you can't be bothered to bug-test for free, that makes complete sense. Any further details on why it mightn't be working would be appreciated though.
