I found the issue. I think I accidentally removed Cortana's dialogue that tells you what to do after entering the reactor room which will give you a marker to the button that exposes the reactors to destroy them. You can still activate the button (it is in the middle of the room) and continue the mission but you need to know where it is. I'll try to update the mod when I can to fix it to include the way point. I'm pretty sure I had the same issue when play-testing it but I just thought I was dumb and hadn't played the mission in a very long time.

Thank you for letting me know, I'll check it out and try to fix it as soon as I can. It may have something to do with me removing all the Cortana & Grave-mind interruptions so I might need to make an exception for that script.

Hey really enjoying the mod! Just ran into a small bug however on "Cortana": ran through the whole level on Heroic, no skips or glitches, and got stuck after checkpoint Bravo (immediately after the cut-scene after picking Cortana up). Not sure if there's a trigger missing, but when trying to go back through the engine room the door remains shut even after clearing the room.

I assume you are talking about the ones on 'The Ark' and 'The Covanant' that pop up when you get close. Unfortunately, shadow casting lights only work with frustum lights so they would only be able to shine a maximum of 180 degrees. I might experiment with adding two of the lights to make 360 degrees but the last time I tried that (for the scarab beam) it just looked weird. The only way to get true shadow casting lights in all directions is to bake it into the map (something I haven't figured out how to do in Halo 3 yet) and only works for non-dynamic lights. My Halo: Reach mod will have much better lighting since I can bake the lights and hopefully I can finish it in a month or two :)

The purple lights that switch on when you get close do not cast shadows, is it possible or wise for them to do so? This is still my favourite mod for this game after all these years.

Oh good. Thank you for following up with that. Yeah that is normal, a little script I added to give the sniper rifle a night vision scope like from Halo Combat Evolved. Unfortunately, the only way I was able to get it to work was to turn on the night vision effect when the player has a sniper rifle equipped and the flashlight turned on since there isn't a script variable that checks for aiming down the scope. As for the crash, I may have encountered that as well but it may just be an MCC thing as well. Cheers!

Okay as it turns out, it ONLY happens when I've got the Sniper Rifle out. Sorry that was me jumping the gun a bit on things, but I can verify when on The Ark it happens whenever I've got the Sniper Rifle currently equipped, doesn't matter if I'm zoomed in or not. The game also crashed as soon as I finished The Ark but I haven't been able to try another stage yet to verify if it'd happen again.

No that shouldn't be happening...did you subscribe to my night-vision version of the mod as well? You may have selected that instead of the flashlight version. If not, can you describe when it happens? Is it as the master chief or arbiter? Is it only on one level? I just tested my version and it seems to be working however it is possible I uploaded the NV version twice (and it has been like that for like 4 months :steamsad: ).

The flashlight not being parallax looks good in 1st person, but in 3rd person you can see clipping. Looks weird in coop. https://i.imgur.com/v7l09Ux.png

I looked at my options and it seems I managed to make a small tweak that kinda offsets the light from the camera which allows you to see some shadows in first person. I'll be sure to include it in my next update that I can hopefully finish by next week.

I just noticed the same thing happens in Halo 2 with the camera being parallel. Is it possible to move the helmet light slightly?

I also looked into the helmet light, it should be casting shadows but since it is parallel to your eyes you can't really see them. If you are in co-op then you should be able to see the shadows from your buddy's light.

Oh yeah definitely, whenever possible I enable shadow casting lights. I thought I did enable shadow casting for the helmet light but I'll check again. I'm finally back home so hopefully I can update all my mods by the end of day.

The shadows cast by the lights on the weapons and vehicles take this game to the next level. Would it be possible to enable shadow casting for more lights? For example the helmet light doesn't cast shadows.

You can make this work again by simply changing two digits in ModInfo.json located in Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\976730\2900808107. Under the header "MaxAppVersion" change the number 3065 to 3073 and save and it will work.

@Sportadrop it's in the \steam\steamapps\workshop\content then the folder with the largest filesize. Open the ModInfo json files in each folder with a text editor to see which folder is which mod.

Good news, 343 already broke every mod on the workshop. You can still use the maps, but you have to copy them from the workshop folder into the game folder.

My current version of Valhalla has flares, floodlights and covenant portable lights dotted around the map and the occasional beam tower that fires are lights up the entire map. The Sand trap version has the Elephants which I added floodlights all over it but that's it. I think my issue is I am trying to recreate a realistic night-time experience which is very dark. However, I realized this is a game and I need to also make it playable and give people the ability to see without the flashlight on their AR. It is a delicate balance. Multiplayer is also kinda wacky with the scripting so I can't use my sniper rifle night vision scope script which sucks.

Actually I'll just add it to the workshop now and see what people think.

Definitely. I made a couple prototype versions of Valhalla and Sand Trap but they were a little too dark at the moment. You also don't have access to the flashlight button in multiplayer which is annoying.

I will look into this. I don't know how generalkidd made his multiplayer armor in campaign mod and he didn't seem upload tag files with it so it might be a bit difficult.
