There is a base chance for asteroids to have a multiplier of 2x /3x on material tiles and this mod increases the multiplier of base yield (x3), medium (from 2x to 9x) and hard (from 3x to 18x) spots. To counterbalance the more loot the different densities also have different hit points depending on how rare the material is (harder material yields more but is also harder to mine).
