Balance this by making them have a chance of completely breaking psychologically

(It's really quite easy to forget the chair requirement.)

Pro tips for this mod:
* You need the Brainwashing Chair to brainwash prisoners, which requires researching Multi-Analyzer. But you don't need any research at all to brainwash your own colonists- You just need to own a Claimed TV. You're more likely to research and craft your own tube television for this, but if you happen to see a television for sale at a faction base, you can buy it and use it right away.

* You can't brainwash colonists unless they have somewhere to sit in front of the TV. Make some stools or dining chairs.

* Brainwashing prisoners requires the prisoner interaction type be set from 'maintain only' to 'brainwash'. After they're brainwashed, they need to be set to 'recruit', as if you leave them on brainwashing they'll just be kept maintained after the fact.

Very useful! That downtime on catatonic pawns is harsh, but still, worthwhile.

MYTAH 10 Aug @ 7:38pm
Having the same issue as bones not sure how im supposed to get the prisoner into the chair
Bones 10 Aug @ 2:15pm
anyone figure out why the chair isn't working any more? My pawns don't ever bring them over to it, can't even force it. But I can redo things on the pawns

Bell, We've got a job to do.
Dallas Dog 5 Aug @ 8:12pm
I can corroborate what The Unknown said. It appears to only keep the top 4 traits when I have the setting set to 6.
Pneumonia 25 Jul @ 4:16pm
How does this interact with Ideology? Is it possible to convert a pawns ideology with this or only will/resistance to recruit?
The Unknown 25 Jul @ 3:32pm
This doesn't appear to respect the setting for trait quantity. It lets you choose the amount you set, sure, but it still only gives 4 in the end, and just cuts off the other traits.
Also, unrelated but it seems to remove rimworld of magic traits, when I used it with that.

YEAAAAA 1.6 UPDATEE!!!!!
FrowningO_o 21 Jul @ 5:35am
Thank you for the update! I was struggling to recruit a little guy with a resistance of 30, and then I found out you've updated!
Mr. House 20 Jul @ 12:11pm
Shoegobby bop, what about it?

Chicken Plucker's other mods have a similar update frequency to this one.
Shoeeater25 17 Jul @ 2:04am
Read the date of the most recent update ffs.
gunns22 13 Jul @ 7:06am
@Chicken Plucker

1.6?
fres 1 Jul @ 6:13pm
The recent update broke the brainwashing it doesn't work for Unwavering Loyal Prisoners anymore.

Other than that it partially works, but not 100% of the time
Glowing Goon 6 Jun @ 1:55pm
It would appear i resolved the issue.
Glowing Goon 6 Jun @ 8:25am
How exactly does this mod allow you to break unwaveringly loyal pawns? i can't seem to find a button to brainwash them into recruiting in the standard prisoner menu
Eevee 29 Apr @ 2:33am
is there a way to increase the time a pawn is knocked out for like the more i change on them the longer they are out of action.
kurikinton 13 Mar @ 11:59pm
So wait, does the function to change backstories and traits only work on your colonists and not prisoners? I've finally noticed that those functions only appear when right clicking on the TV, not the chair, with a colonist, and it's "Change own personality".

Is there a way to change the prisoner's personality or not?
WiseArkAngel 1 Mar @ 10:51pm
Yay! Sensory Deprivation!
Frodo Baggins 1 Mar @ 9:21pm
Does brainwashing only lower will and resistance? Or does it convert as well
RED8cted 25 Feb @ 9:58am
i would like to go back on what i said. it works as shown.
RED8cted 19 Feb @ 6:52pm
any chance we can get a version for colonists.........just asking for a friend
kurikinton 24 Jan @ 9:09pm
I don't see any mod settings for configuring traits/backstories. I see the toggle to turn those functions on and the rest of the settings are empty.
The_Illusive_Man22 22 Jan @ 6:01am
Bell we got a job to do!
Ros[É] 19 Jan @ 1:53pm
@Mat have you found a fix? I'm having the same issue and did what @jgilligan said but it still doesn't work.

lexcpa324 11 Jan @ 5:33pm
what do the numbers mean?
L2 5 Jan @ 9:56pm
could you add a mod option so that instead of being able to put trait points to whatever number i have to rebalance the pawns existing like taking 4 out of plants and putting it into mining something like that
Chip56 6 Dec, 2024 @ 4:35am
I really like this mod but i noted two bugs:
max traits is always 4 even if you have it set to a higher number. If you had more it will delete any above that.
Changing backstories to remove any "cant do x" does not fully update the skjlls and they are still disabled.

The Chad Banisher 7 Nov, 2024 @ 9:11am
Also noticed Im unable to get past 4 traits with brainwashing.
Tetrako 14 Sep, 2024 @ 8:47am
I'll +1 to the earlier mentioned issue that brainwashing to change traits is always locked to 4 traits max, even if changed to higher in the settings. I attempted the fix mentioned earlier and it didn't apply.
Harduk 3 Sep, 2024 @ 12:29am
You can just recruit any beggar and make him the best pawn in history
At the very least I think for balancing that every trait/passion change should add an additional 3 days of catatonic (even so, making a GOD pawn would take about 30 days)
Average Genestealer 2 Sep, 2024 @ 3:20pm
Can this tame wildmen, or are they simply too dumb to be brainwashed?
Harduk 2 Sep, 2024 @ 2:38pm
this is wayyy too OP
Sif 19 Aug, 2024 @ 8:32am
@OrthodoxClam try prioritizing the task. That's what I did, and it worked fine.
jgilligan 16 Aug, 2024 @ 6:16pm
@Mat , I had to have a medical prisoner bed and it seems to have just worked but I had to have the prisoners set to industrial medical treatment. Then click on the TV and brainwash let the spin cycle commence.
Mat 14 Aug, 2024 @ 3:50pm
Having the same problem as OrthodoxClam, for some reason this one unwavering prisoner who I've set to brainwash isn't being taken and when i try to manually send her, I don't even have the option to, but i do have a "Cannot take to bed: No Prisoner bed available" error while she is currently in a bed. Any fixes?
John Deathstranding 14 Aug, 2024 @ 1:12pm
The numbers mason. What do they mean
OrthodoxClam 19 Jul, 2024 @ 2:22pm
My warden is just, not doing it. They're all set to be brainwashed, but nobody is taking them to it
Zero Tachikoma 19 Jul, 2024 @ 1:19pm
@Ayas I tried changing "4" to "traitsToSet.Count", but still had that problem.
Would you please paste the full section of code you're talking about so I can see where I went wrong?
𝘼𝙮𝙖𝙨 10 Jul, 2024 @ 9:27am
Hey, just to let you know and in case it may help someone else, in the line 35 of file JobDriver_StartBrainwashTelevision.cs, the For loop uses "i < 4" , which seems to make the job ignore the option you set with the number of traits you can modify, so always sets only 4 even if you have if up to the max 9 it allows you to. Changing the "4" to "traitsToSet.Count" seems enough to fix this, or at least be able to change/add all traits
Big Juice 9 Jul, 2024 @ 3:27pm
I can brainwash a pawn away from Unwavering Loyalty, but I can't figure out how to change a pawn's traits and such. How do I do that?
Chicken Plucker  [author] 23 Jun, 2024 @ 9:01am
@XHU 524 - OFSET 5 - Hi, yes, Uncle Boris - Used Furniture mod

@WItcher of the Lynx - Hi, while I appreciate the video an error log would help a lot more. It could be a load of other factors like other mods interfering with how the mod works, so if you're still running into this then I'll wait for a full complete console log where the issue is present

@Crowbot - You can, this breaks unwavering loyalty

@Cat Kraken - The chair is just coded like any other chair and no pawns will prioritise it, the problem is your TV is also coded like any other TV so they will just use it. If you really want to prevent it, you can use zone restrictions and potentially disallow the doors, but it's a lot of effort.
XHU 524 - OFSET 5 15 Jun, 2024 @ 6:14pm
is the TV a separate mod?
Witcher of the Lynx 14 Jun, 2024 @ 9:59pm
I have an issue where selecting brainwash on prisoners, only some can be brought to the chair whilst others cannot be selected/interacted. It is like issue flagged by @Charles and @Norseman before. Unwavering/normal prisoners doesn't seem to matter. I have video: https://gofile.io/d/G44Dtg
