Backing it with black would work better if it wasn't Christmas themed however.
If you tried a better color (other then black, maybe something lighter) to mute the glow just a small bit, and the gifts aren't a bad idea since you aren't going nuts on it.
Overall this isn't super bad, but I think you might want to try and make things more distinct for what you have.
To improve this, I'd personally make the gifts something else like snowflakes or plain circles (though that'd probably be too far removed from the original concept), and make the black a bit more like a dark grey or maroon, as at the moment the black just looks like you used the colour #000000.
i like the gold ribbons though
