@Boris that does indeed sound like a sound cache issue. I think the easiest explanation on how sound cache works in this game is that those files are basically a snapshot of what soundfiles/soundscripts were being used. I'd say it will eventually work as intended after those sound caches get replaced naturally (or by force lol)

It's weird, I used snd_restart once and it worked, then a while later, I played the game again, used it and it became a weird mix of modded and vanilla voicelines. Probably some conflict, I'll unsub to everything and try again later.

@Boris hmm, might be some conflict in workshop folder but that's unlikely - I tested the files on my end and it was working but of course, in the custom folder. If you've already tried to redownload and did an snd_restart and it's still not working, I'm not sure what might be causing the issue.

Another factor tho but I think unlikely too, is the sound cache files you usually see on the mod folder or the custom folder. If you delete those, then do a snd_restart in the game, it can also refresh what sounds are being loaded. In this example: dav.vpk.sound.cache, etc.

Definitive Security Voices AND Deathsounds Overhaul are both working, but I can't get this to work at all, any tips?

Updated! pretty major rework - now works seamlessly and can be easily a point of reference to anyone who wishes to set up their own talker system

That's great!

HeardSomething is the next stage of Investigate, when bots have heard a noise source - they will trigger Investigate voicelines if they're alone or with teammates.
Here's the more intricate part. If they heard something while looking or moving east, they will trigger a voiceline saying whether to look, watch, or they are heading east. Same way with all the directions. AND they will trigger both alone or with teammates. Cause in vanilla, the voicelines are always only activated when they have nearby teammates.

To add more into what the update brings:
By default, the vanilla uses "HeardSomething" criteria, which is when the player hears something obviously, and it will choose a voiceline to play, but for some reason, that is only used by SecurityBots in Survival and not in Insurgents.

The Insurgent side only ever uses Idle Voicelines. So I added in both Investigate and HeardSomething response rules for the Insurgent Side which will trigger in three ways.

Investigate is just the more proactive version of Idle. The bots that are doing something but haven't heard or seen the player yet will use a more general voice line like "Go" "Need Backup" etc. This criteria can trigger in bots that are alone, or bots with nearby teammates.

Updated! I cooked something - potential fixes and a bit more in Changelogs
blxckdreadful  [author] 20 Jun, 2023 @ 7:19pm
@balkanwarcriminal1098 apparently, corrupted sounds are client side and can simply be fixed by redownloading the mod
soundsofoppression 19 Jun, 2023 @ 9:53am
So, is it fixed?
blxckdreadful  [author] 13 Dec, 2022 @ 10:17am
having been back to modding, I noticed there's a single corrupted file in one of my voice mods. I can't narrow it down yet since I'm working on my main mod. It's either this one, or the security voices - there is a SINGLE VOICELINE that I have to find among hundreds of files. fml
BingusBongus 27 Oct, 2022 @ 10:38am
alright
blxckdreadful  [author] 27 Oct, 2022 @ 10:25am
im inactive in modding now, cant get back to this yet
BingusBongus 27 Oct, 2022 @ 10:08am
the issue seems to be back for me but the verifying isnt fixing it anymore, not sure what to do but im trying to run though some other solutions
BingusBongus 31 Aug, 2022 @ 11:12am
verified files and reinstalled mod, everything is good, thank you so much for your help!
blxckdreadful  [author] 31 Aug, 2022 @ 11:00am
Aight, let me know when it persists, I'll upload quickly even right now the vpk I'm using. I'm planning on updating this to make it more seamless once I get the time (after my main mod)
BingusBongus 31 Aug, 2022 @ 9:54am
ill verify files here to see if it fixes
blxckdreadful  [author] 30 Aug, 2022 @ 8:46pm
My local files doesn't have an issue, so safe to assume the vpk uploaded is good too, so we can narrow it down to the downloading OR my upload, that buzzing sound happens when the sound files are corrupted
blxckdreadful  [author] 30 Aug, 2022 @ 8:44pm
May be an issue with the download (got interrupted somehow) as I updated recently, try redownloading, if the issue persists, I will re-upload the vpk
BingusBongus 30 Aug, 2022 @ 7:16pm
for some reason the voices are high pitched and sped up and i also hear buzzing and beeps instead of certain noises. is this a mod issue/conflict or is my computer ass/game broken
blxckdreadful  [author] 20 Aug, 2022 @ 6:10pm
New Security Voices add on in the collection, check it out
Sheen Boah 3 May, 2022 @ 5:48pm
Alright.
blxckdreadful  [author] 3 May, 2022 @ 1:53am
If the audio from movies have no white noise, background music, etc, that could be used. Once I'm back into modding, I might do an in-depth diving for audio files to make it perfect. Tho I can't promise anything since modding is actually tiring. But I'll get there when I get there anyways
Sheen Boah 2 May, 2022 @ 10:10pm
Or you can source audio from movies like Apocalypse Now, Black Hawk Down, Jarhead, etc.
Sheen Boah 2 May, 2022 @ 10:08pm
For all I can think about is sourcing them from military footage. (i.e. Battle of Fallujah for a reference point) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pybBkJ4hB4U
blxckdreadful  [author] 2 May, 2022 @ 12:24am
That's a good idea but idk where to source the voices, Some voicelines from other games just do not cut it sometimes since what they are saying doesn't really match Insurgency (e.g: some from CoD shouts there's enemy chopper etc, but there's no chopper in insurgency)
Sheen Boah 2 May, 2022 @ 12:11am
Will we also get voicelines for Security forces?
