Anyone who finds this may be enlightened to know that I am planning to expand/rework Infinity fleet this year. Currently there isn't a definitive time when it will happen but it most certainly will happen in 2023.

I hear you Mach. When I release the next set of Infinity warships I will adjust accordingly, and also add your lore tab.

Infinity (am I doing this right?) - A small suggestion, perhaps "raise" the rearward turrets a little in order to get a 4-turret superfiring battery facing forward? As it is, using the rear cannons would require tilting the cruiser downward/upward and expose the entire spine to incoming fire, as well as put the railgun out of arc. Otherwise, loving the "capsuleer" pocket-warship aesthetic very much.

Star Builder you say? Never heard of such a title, but I wear it proudly.

The simple designs rather then the complexity of other ships on the workshop is really refreshing to me, Some people these days attempt over detailing, Even myself i find an issue with that. So thank you for these nice, And really simplistic but impactful designs for Cruisers. They look fantastic in Fleets, and Around celestial bodies, Making some Cinematic shots absolutely Spectacular. And, The Lore implications are very lovely for me. Art is meant to tell Stories and weave tales of the Cosmos, After all. Much love, Star Builder.

Thanks for the info condottiere, I'll take into account the information given and see how I can apply it to the fleets.

Alternately, age of sail ship classes are kind of cool and convoluted too. I've seen some SF authors re-cast 16th-19th century ship combat into interstellar navigation and combat.

For SE though, it mostly comes down to how each of us brackets ship designs by block/PCU count. Maybe weapon count/weight as well.

IRL, frigates fit between destroyers and corvettes, if it interests you. :) A real-world list might go something like this, but it is purely informational and you can do whatever you want (or not) with this!

Destroyer
Destroyer escort (usu a slower destroyer, possibly older, relegated to convoy escort duty)
Frigate (today, smaller than destroyers, but in older terms could be a light cruiser tasked to lead destroyers)
Corvette (smallest transoceanic duty ship; not coastal)

Monitor (doesn't fit neatly on the ship scale size-wise; packs a crap ton of cannons for shore bombardment)

There's not much hard and fast about these categories though -- different countries and sailing cultures all used their own terms. Heck, compared to other workshop ships, your cruisers might only count as someone else's "corvette" (in a 26th century interstellar equivalent of the US defense budget).

@condottiere, I'm glad you love the Infinity collection. Any ships below a corvette would be considered as a gunship/patrol-skiff/frigate/fighter. I'm still working the kinks out but ships of those classes are sure to come.

I just found your IRW fleet collection, and I'm looking forward to trying them all out in survival this weekend. It's sooo nice to see a coherent set of ships that are so accommodating -- low PCU, easily adapted to different blocks/weapons, and all within a shared set of lore. Thank you for not going hog wild with yet another creative-fantasy 80k PCU behemoth "destroyer" or "corvette". :D

What would you call sub-5k PCU ships, if your corvette hull is 5k?

No worries man, didn't think that at all. I love coming across stuff like this and seeing my work put to use. 😁
Incanatus  [author] 3 Apr, 2022 @ 7:07am
@Storyteller, glad you love em.
@Echo, I hope you know that I do no claim the planet as mine. I recognize your ownership of the planet.
Storyteller 2 Apr, 2022 @ 9:09pm
I love the idea of easily retrofitable and cheap ships. Its fun to think of a rebellion or pirate group that buys/produces cheap ships and mods them. Great work!
Echo 2 Apr, 2022 @ 8:33pm
Yep, thought I recognized my own Planet. Haha. That is Indeed Aphus
Incanatus  [author] 2 Apr, 2022 @ 6:47am
For the comments below I have added the proper info and added some extra pictures.

@Jettlunn, the planet is known as Aphus I do believe.
@Starkiller, glad you love it.
@TyeDie280, it should be able to jump 2,000km powered on a combo of reactors and batteries but I'll check.
@MauseLoch9000, I hope these ships get you where you need to be on UK2.
MauseLoch9000 2 Apr, 2022 @ 5:56am
Infinity. I love these ships, they are very easy to modify for my needs. And im going to use them in Keen UK2 soon.
TyeDie280 2 Apr, 2022 @ 3:38am
knowing the PCU an how far it can jump and powered by
Starkiller 2 Apr, 2022 @ 12:12am
I really love these ships. Not overdone, as big and equipped as they should be, and the aesthetics are beyond amazing. Well done.

Thank Farinhas, I'll keep the lore rich and the weapons hot.

I really like people who use lego or space engineers as a medium to their lore. Reminds me of my buddies that did the same with lego creations, over on MOCpages and Flickr back in the 2010s. Will subscribe to your Infinity Fleet and read all the lore. Cheers, keep on buildin' and writin'!
