But took me a lot of pain(t) work in the exit chamber >_<
your welcome.
remember after restoring from a backup.
when you go into a restored map, in the editor, to edit it.
you will see a new default, unedited map.
this will look like your restoration has failed.
when in fact, it is successfull.
you just click build & you will see your map,
as it was, when you backed it up.
2 of 2:
not knowing the extent of your pc problem, I can't help you now.
but might, if you explain ?
or someone else may have the answer.
when my pc died, using my new pc, I managed to locate & retrieve my maps,
from my old pc's hard drive. using a hard drive dock.
so even with an extreme pc failure, their might still be hope.
& of course if you are successfull, you don't have to change a thing on this map.
I just gave a opinion.
as always, your map, your choice.
1 of 2:
sorry to hear about your PC / map problem :(
every so often I back up my portal 2 maps.
as it is the only thing steam does not restore / save.
for future reference:
path to portal 2 maps on a windows 7 home premium 64 bit pc.
start / computer / C drive (or which ever one your operating system is on) /program files (x86) / steam / steam apps / common / portal 2 / portal 2 / puzzles.
then copy the puzzles, on to an external drive, for safe keeping.
then even if on a new pc, you can install steam & portal2.
then use to path above, on your pc, to locate the puzzles.
then delete & paste the puzzles you backed up, to that location.
all with steam closed.
then open steam & portal 2 & go into the editor & select edit, on any map.
you see a new map. now press build, to see your finished map.
repeat for each map.
one of the maps I working on a map, has this combo.
so you will have a head start, when published.
not very keen on the exit chamber: paint, paint, paint...
but the 1st chamber was excelent :)
cube chamber looked daunting, from entrance.
turned out to be easy, but good effect on player, when viewed from entrance :)
I would consider altering the exit chamber, to be less: paint, paint, paint...
& add a puzzle or puzzles, instead.
main chamber got you a well deserved thumbs up.
