B missiles and launchers are worth looking at if you want to develop weapons id see what their doing then innovate or see what they are up to as that team is killing it with missiles currently
I've grabbed a ton of different ones from the workshop and ran through tests where I planted a varying number of vehicles in a target area. When there is just one they usually works unless it finds a reward box along the way. With more vehicles in an area it's completely random what they will lock on particularly if the radar is being joustled due to course changes. With the addition of AI vehicles a chopper or boat popping in has added a new elements.
With the current release of radar, sonar, etc. there's no real good way to ensure you can keep locked on, or even lock on, to what you want to hit.
The VALKRYIE is a bigger accurate missile that is designed to hit stationary targets... it's a ballistic missile. Think Minuteman, Tomahawk and SCUD . It's a completely different family of ordinance than an AA missile (like a Sparrow) or AS (like a Hellfire). However it's also reprogrammable in flight so it does offer so flexibility. In that case the ability to hit a target (stationary or otherwise) will depend on the quality of the Remote Fire Controller (to provide updated GPS and target Altitude) and not on the ability of the missile to find a target.
When the Weapons DLC comes out I hope that it will be couple with something with a big AoE "Boom". :)
Right now it's strapped to a wagon carrier. However I really actually designed it be launched from vertical tubes on a sub... 4 tubes on a sub currently in the build phase. It's in the ballistic missile family: a rocket-propelled self-guided strategic-weapons system that follows a ballistic trajectory to deliver a payload from its launch site to a predetermined target.
The VALKYRIE is more like an Exocet at low Top Off or a Bunker Buster at high approach. High Accuracy, kill motors and hopefully big boom where you tell it to go. If you want it to be more active in searching, etc you can build that in to the Remote Fire Contoller which could host a huge radar or be slaved to a spotting laser. Those may have more power and better data then a small radar traveling at high speed.
