Anyway to add in a new option like open borders? Give an option to allow or deny shipping lanes for trade units? Like a Free Trade Agreement that is like open borders? Increase trade from sea by 50%?

cool idea but way too complex for me. i already tried to add others suggestion for the mod but sadly never managed to do it.

This is nice, But i have a suggestion that would make it a little more real like. If you come within 2 tiles of a city while in their borders they and the nations they are friendly or higher relations with should get 55 grievances.

Not currently possible but I could give it a try on another version of the mod
But from what I know, I could not make the mod dissapear at a certain time period.
Still, I could give the ability to pass border only to some early boat (and Raid boats) while the rest would have to rely on Government Card (like 'Gun Boat Diplomacy'). Only downside of this is that boat added by other mod will not be affected.

I'll try it out in my next game. Is it possible to have the function of the mod end at a certain time period? Like say in the Industrial era, the mod stops working or turns off due to the ability of countries to better enforce borders even on sea at this point in human history.

This is very inaccurate. Open/international waters are not close to countries/cities. Meaning in real life this works like this too. This is why coast guards and marine troops exist for most countries next to seas.

@CoachGunns, If you use 'Gun boat diplomacy' to pass your boat through city state borders, then yes the mod make this policy useless. But remember that this mod only apply for boat, a combat unit on water still can't pass a border, so 'Gun boat diplomacy' still can help you to let pass your other unit.

@coachGunns I do believe that policy only applies to city states. This mod would allow open water travel through the borders of another full Civ.
