@cape Should be back up, thanks for letting me know! Glad to see people are still getting use out of this even after Civ 6 is out.

Make sure to avoid the clickbait ads when looking for the download link.

AliveDrive, I hear you. I like the idea I like it. Your explanations are great.
AliveDrive  [author] 3 Aug, 2014 @ 12:34am
Also this: "With all of these mods enabled, you can now reasonably play on larger maps, albeit with fewer cities(lag), while still retaining filled out borders. "
AliveDrive  [author] 3 Aug, 2014 @ 12:33am
Actually funny story this mod is like 3 lines of code, and I have very little programming experience.

I made this mod to have cities be farther apart, and it is ideally meant to be used with the Faster Border Growth and Extended City Radius mods (which i did not make).

This is a subtle mod, but you will notice it when you go to place a city, that by default they must now be farther away.

The beauty of this mod is in it's relative simplicity, as well as its flexibility.

For instance, you could have cities be CLOSER instead of FARTHER by editing one little number in the code.

"This simple mod extends the minimum city distance from 3 to 4, by changing the default value of MIN_CITY_RANGE global define."

The reason I made this mod is because I wanted to amplify the effects of the other mods I listed and they seem to really shine when they aren't cramped by those expansionist AI.

Additionally, I believe in this mod. I continue to subscribe. I have not been playing alot lately. I will report back when I can get a more complete or comprehensive impression of it. In the meantime, kudos to AliveDrive for the work that is evident in this mod.
inahut 2 Aug, 2014 @ 10:42am
we installed thru steam
it may indeed be working
i do not mean to be testy
it is a mod that has, as it were, subtle effects
when I take the time to glance at it I cannot immediately tell that it is telling me ANYTHING useful, hence my hesitant attitude towards it.
Do I make any sense?
If a mod such as this is to be useful and downloadable, we need to be able to see immediately for ourselves that it is adding something to the game
If it is not obvious or obviously evident that it is adding to our play then it is not--even if the design and intent is sincere.

Can anyone else confirm that they were able to get this mod to work or experienced issues with the mod?

@inahut Did you install through Steam, or the direct download?
inahut 31 Jul, 2014 @ 2:49pm
am continuing to observe for the effect of this mod; have not been playing alot lately; work and sleep being somewhat, unfortunately, more necessary at this point in life. Will update my observations when I can. I have subscribed and do believe in this mod and that is saying a lot coming from me.
AliveDrive  [author] 29 Jul, 2014 @ 6:04pm
Can you tell me which other mods you are using? Anything that alters the values explained here:
-------
"This simple mod extends the minimum city distance from 3 to 4, by changing the default value of MIN_CITY_RANGE global define.

I also added the settings for

SETTLER_EVALUATION_DISTANCE from 20 to 12

CHOKEPOINT_STRATEGIC_VALUE from 2 to 4

and

SETTLER_DISTANCE_DROPOFF_MODIFIER from 75 to 50"
-------
MIGHT conflict with my code, thus rendering it dudly.
inahut 29 Jul, 2014 @ 3:13pm
In my first game with this mod I cannot see that it has any effect. I will continue to observe how far and near other civs found cities, and how near and far from other cities I can found new cities. I am meaning to say that it may not even work to prevent the founding of new cities except at the game's default distance. Will continue to observe and evalutate. Does not appear to do anything at all! I downloaded a dud it seems.

No problem! Please leave a positive rating so other people can find out about this mod! Thank you.
DEATH 6 Jul, 2014 @ 10:44pm
My wish has came true. TY for the MOD.
AliveDrive  [author] 2 Jul, 2014 @ 8:39pm
Thank you to everyone who has used this mod.

It would help me a lot if you took the time to leave a positive rating.
JamminJarry 2 Jul, 2014 @ 8:26pm
Despite my earlier comment, mod is pretty useful, typically find some of the more expansive civs a city or two short of where they normally would be.
AliveDrive  [author] 2 Jul, 2014 @ 2:32pm
This has come up in the comments before. I simply did a google search for a city that was close to another city.

I hope that the new picture, while slightly less pretty to look at will provide a better example of what this mod tries to accomplish.
Sjoerd 30 Jun, 2014 @ 7:37am
I did i was typing the same thing.
JamminJarry 29 Jun, 2014 @ 9:11am
Anyone notice the picture he's using to talk about Civs building too close is actually a captured capital next to the second city of the Persian empire?
AliveDrive  [author] 27 Jun, 2014 @ 3:23pm
Thank you be sure to rate positively and tell your friends!
Сухов 27 Jun, 2014 @ 12:43pm
Great!
AliveDrive  [author] 25 Jun, 2014 @ 12:19pm
No problem!

Feel free to edit any settings that are not to your liking.
Ariakaaan 25 Jun, 2014 @ 9:15am
Great,TY for this mod!
AliveDrive  [author] 24 Jun, 2014 @ 1:14am
Thank you, I got the idea from a forum thread, but decided to make it to fit my own needs.

But I also made it easily flexible for universal play.
TheOrangeBishop 23 Jun, 2014 @ 11:11pm
Great idea.
AliveDrive  [author] 21 Jun, 2014 @ 6:50pm
MIN_CITY_RANGE should be a global define, which means that it should even prevent island cities that were too close from settling.

Unless you discover otherwise, let me know! :)
MOV_Hannibal 21 Jun, 2014 @ 5:40pm
Did you remember to change it so it also affects cities on other continents?
Plain Doll 26 May, 2014 @ 2:25pm
Thanks, man. This really helps me. Having close cities presents a challenge and the ability to expand more.
AliveDrive  [author] 18 May, 2014 @ 6:32pm
Go to My Documents, My Games, Sid Meier's Civ 5, MODS, Civ 5 City+.

Open GlobalCityDist. Change the line that reads <Set Value="4"/>.

The number you put will be the minimum distance cities must be apart.

Hope that helps :)
Plain Doll 17 May, 2014 @ 6:32pm
I'm not quite a wizard with this. Is that in the steam/common/civ5 stuff?
AliveDrive  [author] 17 May, 2014 @ 6:21pm
Change the value of MIN_CITY_RANGE to however far you want it to be.
Plain Doll 17 May, 2014 @ 6:21pm
Erm, how do I shrink city distances?
AliveDrive  [author] 15 May, 2014 @ 5:19pm
I just used Google Image Search :P
Turboscopic 15 May, 2014 @ 2:28pm
Am I the only one who noticed that both the cities in the mod's picture are Persia's where Greece just took over Persepolis?
AliveDrive  [author] 14 May, 2014 @ 11:42pm
This is meant to be used with other mods that increase city tile count and culture aquisition.

It is a different playstyle that would need to be adapted to.

I know that some people like to get personal but for me, I like the cities to have more value, and the computers will often ruin that for you by stealing the resource or wonder nearby.
Doge Hammar Taco of France 13 May, 2014 @ 6:17pm
If I'm not the asshole who does this shit, then I usually ask them to not settle so close or just declare war.
AliveDrive  [author] 10 May, 2014 @ 5:08pm
I sure do!
qadams 8 May, 2014 @ 1:10am
By "Faster Border Growth" (a mod I can't find), do you really mean "Faster Plot Expansion"?
