@Frosted Flake - As far as I can tell, yes. To make it work, you'll need two mods from Nexus below before installing this mod:
In-game, go to Settings > Extensions > turn Protected UI Mode OFF
Go to Nexus > download SirNukes Mod Support APIs | kuertee UI Extensions and HUD > extract both mods to ...\steamapps\common\X4 Foundations\extensions\
In-game, go to Settings > Extensions > make sure both new mods are set to ON > exit game
Subscribe to Escape Pod

Should work as intended. If escape pods are stuck in "Escape" order, just right click them and remove the order. Then you can send a ship to rescue them and they'll behave like Space Suits.
If an escape pod manages to dock at a station when Fleeing, they'll teleport randomly to one of your ships as Unassigned crew. Not sure what happens if none of your ships have space for more crew.

Hello it work in 7.5?

since Egosoft came up with an even more stupid system, they simply throw some of the spacesuits from the player's ship into space. (NPCs are saved in capsules as they usually die) The spacesuits are completely inert, no commands or movement until they are saved.

@Azrael I had that same thing happen on a fully vanilla game. Same thing happened with a dude in a space suit once, just had to let him die.

For anyone wondering, this mod still works and ejects you if your ship is destroyed, but there is downside of it, where NPC ships often leave empty pods that are unable to dock or be removed..

Great mod for the most part :steamthumbsup: but an unfortunate bug where empty escape pods keep ejecting and cannot be modified or removed .:steamthumbsdown:

It seems that if you reassign the captain when manually replacing the ejected crew and instruct him to dock at a nearby ship or station, the pod will disappear. It takes some time and effort, but it is better than re-training the crew.

I uninstalled the mod and the escape pods went away. I could turn it back on now I really liked it this mod, but we'll keep it off for now

Great mod!
Recently, some escape pods have gotten stuck in space, and are unable to be ordered around, though. They stick there for hours on end, and haven't been destroyed.
Do I need to manually destroy these, or will they despawn somehow?

Thank you so much!! So far this is working fantastically. Always annoyed me that I always lost all hands on deck while seeing ai life pods floating around the galaxy.
I've been getting into hand picking my crews so I had some eye candy when visiting my ships.... losing ships is frustrating but they can be replaced, re-building an eye catching crew takes a lot of time though. again thank you

Seems to work partially in 6.0 but will spawn infinite escape pods over time that you can't get rid of and enemies seem to ignore forever clogging your ship list.

Empty pods just stay in my list of ships, and I can't delete/rid myself of them. Anyone got any solutions?

Also, just teleported to a pod (I forgot it doesnt really work, silly mistake) and got a game over screen after glitching in the pod for a few seconds, hadnt saved for 2 hours. I know it was my own mistake but just thought ide mention it.

@Bion Hello! Thanks for the awesome mod, are you planning to do anymore work on this? Noticed a few little issues like some pods getting stuck or weirdness if you teleport to them and then teleport away (says it arrived at your teleport destination). Also if I were to make an escape pod model with a cockpit would that be of any use to you? I checked and I reckon I could make one the same size as the current one but with a cockpit.

Just learned this the other day, the pilot of the pod (the first person in the pod list) never gets re-assigned after the pod docks. I'm guessing this is a bug?

Okay yeah, I hate to say this, I loved this mod. But i think right now it may be pretty deviously broken.

I have no less than two dozen escape pods, some say they have crew, others don't. However all of them claim to have no pilot and none of them respond to any of my commands to dock with anything nearby.

My only choice is going to be to delete them one by one, or fly out there and destroy them one by one.

Maybe it's something i'm just not understanding that the mod author could clarify, but unfortunately it seems to me he may have quit or gone permanently AFK.

Maybe anyone who understands modding a bit could take a look at doing some sort of patch job just to get by?

Each destroyed ship of mine will left an empty pod ,and no one is in it,so I can't command it or delete it.Soon there will be lots of pod in my ship list.

Is there a way your none ships flying around. (They get blown up and produce a Pod.) could you add a function to collect said Pod or collect its crew.I have try'ed and can not do either every Pod says no Pilot on board. I have even been at said ship before its blown up and try'ed to collect crew or pod. only can blow up Pods to remove them out my list of owned ships. I know its a mod just for your own ship your currently flying, but would be cool to have the function to save your fleets pilots and crew by collecting them some how? Thanks

The only reliable way I know is to just go OOS and come back, via teleport for example. I remember that sometimes a few capsules stuck around regardless, but that was because there was still personell in them (at least I think so, but I didn't have that happen after CoH anymore).

Question, sometimes pods will not have any AI pilots, meaning they cant fly to any location. You can still transfer crew with them and an empty ship of yours, but I was curious if this was intended or not. Thanks!

Don't want to speak for someone else, but based on everything in this mod. seems he was trying to make the escape pods as they are represented in this game, which is a lifeboat to safety, not a scout ship.

this mod is great but i have a little suggestion of why not have it so that you can spawn escape pods from stations so that you can just fly your way to another one of your ships without needing to research teleporting and even scout/fly around a little while all your ships are busy doing your boring chores

or even just fly around in one of those civilian vehicles you see around stations across the system

(i kind of want this because the little things are fun and i would like a way to at least do repair jobs when all my ships die so that i can have confidence in doing a no quick load game where i dont revert my game when i fuck up if their already is a mod like this please let me know)

it misses just a small functionality (for me), an order in "Default behavior" for the automatic rescue of pods ;)

the ship/fleet will go as fast as possible in the sector in its predefined action zone (number of jumps) where there was an ejection of pods in a place "on" as close as possible to the pods that this can quickly dock on the ship or ships (fleet) where there is space, once the rescue finished the ship / fleet will return to its point / station of home.

this is only a suggestion for this mod, or a idea for a sub mod ;), this little lack ( I repeat, for me ;) ) doesn't change the quality of this mod, once again Thanks You Very Much for your work.

just a minor Suggestion about the Docking Part of the escape Pods:
. the playership as default isnt always a good Choice .give they player an option to choose where they can dock.if that is possible.
Also the status Message that the cant dock because the player ship is full can get anoying.

what happens to NPCs after they've escaped? i assume i must have loads of escape podded employees just waiting around somewhere, but i don't know how to find a list of them

Yes. NPCs on any player-owned ship anywhere in the galaxy may use pods as well. High skilled crew have higher priority and higher chance to survive in general (morale is also taken into account). So there may be situations where the pod is not used at all, or conversely, every available pod on the ship will be fully crewed.

So with NPC's on a ship I own but not controlling, (such as a trade or mining ship) will they still eject when the ship is blown up? Or does it only matter for the NPC's on the ship I'm piloting?

Sweet, I'll keep this enabled then. Beeing using this for some time, but never looked into what the new vanilla eject did. This is still way better.

Although it replaces the new ejection mechanic as a feature, it will not break anything or cause any unwanted behaviour. it triggers before emergency eject. It was already tested during beta test.

New vanilla emergency eject puts you in a spacesuit near the destroyed ship. This feature only works for the player.
This mod puts you and your crew in controllable escape pod (or pods), This also work for NPCs on any player-owned ship. Also it gives you more survivability, because spacesuit is so slow and vulnerable, that most likely you'll getting killed in a few seconds after ejection.
