Im looking at this mod and it's pretty ingenious... must have been way harder than adding some new cells or npcs..... should have a higher rating if you ask me. ooooo five circles... No star key

I kinda wish it affected what enemies hear, but, what can ya do?
Throol  [author] 8 Nov, 2014 @ 9:12pm
That could well be, I haven't had Skyrim installed for a while to check it.
ebonweaver 8 Nov, 2014 @ 3:38pm
Mod doesn't work, no slider added to audio settings, guessing it's outdated and was broken by patches.
Forg 28 Jun, 2013 @ 10:55am
I have, but I haven't heard back from them yet:/ That's what brought me to asking around, I figured it'd be easier to find a mod that just quieted all spell impacts instead of trying to convince a modder to make a change just for me. Thanks for the imput and patience though!
Throol  [author] 27 Jun, 2013 @ 6:21pm
Cobalt, have you checked with the maker of the blink teleport mod? He/she would be the most familiar with how the spell is configured, and might be the one best able to make those modifications to the spell, if that's the only one that's an issue currently.
Throol  [author] 27 Jun, 2013 @ 6:19pm
Hm - I'll have to research that one, news to me.
Forg 25 Jun, 2013 @ 8:49am
My bad, when I meant "Dishonored" playthrough, I meant roleplaying in Skyrim as the main character ~from~ Dishonored. I was talking about how I've been unable to find a mod for Skyrim that lets you quiet the impact and various other sounds that spells make other than the cast itself, which is the only thing the "Quiet Casting" perk in Skyrim actually silences, so that I'd be able to use my teleport spell mod around enemy NPCs without being noticed.
Throol  [author] 21 Jun, 2013 @ 2:36pm
Cobalt - wish I could help you, but I don't own Dishonored, and searching online, it doesn't look like a development kit for it was released, no Dishonored Nexus site, either. So it'll take a lot of digging, if someone made a mod, or working one out yourself.
Forg 21 Jun, 2013 @ 8:13am
I've been trying to do a Dishonored playthrough using just a dagger and the blink teleport mod, and I have the Quiet Casting perk, but it's really hard to have fun with it when the sound of the impact of the spell constantly alerts enemies I'm trying to stealth kill- and all of their friends. I know this isn't what this mod was designed for, but this is the closest I've come to seeing something similar, so I figured I'd post this here - does anyone who reads this know of a way to remove or muffle the sound of spell impacts?
Throol  [author] 6 Jan, 2013 @ 3:13pm
No problem! Glad it helps!
Nuit 6 Jan, 2013 @ 10:21am
This is a must for playing with headphones. Thank you so much!
Throol  [author] 14 Nov, 2012 @ 4:57pm
Nope, it's completely separate from the Quiet Casting perk - the mod only changes what YOU hear, not what the NPCs hear.
AnimecoreX 13 Nov, 2012 @ 5:25pm
Does this go on automatically when you get the Quiet Casting perk?
Comrade Ogilvy 7 Aug, 2012 @ 5:04pm
my bad my little brothers got on and muted just the skyrim sound and i didnt realize it
Throol  [author] 7 Aug, 2012 @ 6:20am
@Saint Void - sorry I missed your updated info, I'll check that out too as soon as I can!
Throol  [author] 7 Aug, 2012 @ 6:15am
@Sylvatic - the mod doesn't make any changes to the sound files themselves, it just adds a category and a slider for it in the settings, so unsubscribing the mod removes the category and slider, it shouldn't have any other effects on your audio. Can you give me any more information, maybe on the mods you installed? My guess would be that one of those is the culprit, but I'm willing to look into it further.

@ All - Has anyone else had problems with the audio after uninstalling and reinstalling this mod?

After I've played Dawnguard some, I should be able to find any new sounds added by it - if there are, I'll work on a new mod including those (I'll leave this one too, for those who choose not to buy Dawnguard). Sorry I haven't done so yet - I've been busy with job interviews, etc.
Comrade Ogilvy 4 Aug, 2012 @ 1:51pm
hey i was just making room for other mods and when i deleted this one and installed other ones the audio in skyrim just stopped working. so i reinstalled it and i still have no sound. can you help me out?
Lyncor 14 May, 2012 @ 11:08pm
I'm happy to see that you've fixed the mage armour sound issue!

I'll be using this mod again now. Thanks a ton! :D
Saint Void 12 May, 2012 @ 1:00pm
No, its only with bound weapons. Its like a wooshing/whisting sound comming from the weapon. Sit in a completely silent room while in first person view and your hear it.
Throol  [author] 7 May, 2012 @ 8:08pm
What bow whistle do you mean? Is it something you notice with regular and magical bows?
Saint Void 7 May, 2012 @ 3:27pm
Awesome thanks. Yeah, as far as the bound weapons I think I'll have to replace that sound file or delete it or something. Silence would be better at this point. Such a small thing but when I'm stealthing around all quiet like, that bow whistle drives me nuts.
Lune Noire 6 May, 2012 @ 4:54pm
Ahh, my bad. I only tried other keywords and they all showed up usually. Thanks for making that clear.

Also, just tried rev. 3, now the annoying sound is gone and I can finally cast spells without busting my ear drums. The summoning sounds are negligible, as I summon not as often as I cast regular spells.

Thanks for looking into it and fixing it so quickly!

Resubscribed and going to recommend. :)

Cheers.
Throol  [author] 6 May, 2012 @ 3:48pm
@Stranger Danger - I tried searching for "Silent Spells" in the workshop myself, it shows up, as long as you're not searching the most popular for today or this week.
Throol  [author] 6 May, 2012 @ 3:43pm
Revision 3! No luck with modifying the mod, so I started over. Made some minor changes, but should work essentially the same as the original did (worked with my saves where I was able to detect the error). I was unfortunately not able to successfully include the atronach and familiar/wolf sounds, that seems to be what triggers the error seen in Revision 2.

Please let me know if you have any issues!
Lune Noire 6 May, 2012 @ 12:23pm
Thanks for looking into it at least. :)

I have no idea. I can try to search for your name or the exact name of the mod, but it does not show up in search results. That's the one thing that really annoys me, the workshop does seem to have some issues when searching for things.

I will keep track of your progress and if the issue is resolved, I will re-subscribe in a blink, good luck. :)
Throol  [author] 6 May, 2012 @ 9:31am
I've done some fiddling, and was able to produce the error as well. No clue how it's doing it, but I'll start working on a fix/revamp now.
@Lyncor Sorry I doubted you!
@Stranger Danger No clue why it wouldn't show up on the Workshop - anyone have any ideas?
Lune Noire 6 May, 2012 @ 2:39am
And on a side note, I can't find this page in the Steam Workshop. I had to find your name in the Steam community and then enter the workshop via your page, for some reason. :(
Lune Noire 6 May, 2012 @ 2:37am
I can confirm this. I used the mod as well and all of a sudden I had the same issue. Whenever a text pops up in the upper left corner, e.g. while picking up items or saving, the game would play the Mage Armour sound. It was incredibly annoying. It's a shame because I really liked tuning down the volume, it's ludicrous especially with dual casting. :(
Lyncor 5 May, 2012 @ 6:25pm
Turning off this mod, and only this mod, fixed the problem. It's a pain, because this thing is useful - I use Restoration magic a huge amount on my current character!

I do have 162 mods, so I can't feasibly nail down any specific conflicts.
Throol  [author] 5 May, 2012 @ 12:09pm
That's odd - I didn't change any settings as far as what sound is associated with what events. I just double-checked the mod in the Creation Kit, and it doesn't modify any settings, just changes the category of certain sounds to Silent Spells. I also haven't been able to reproduce your issue. Are you running any other mods that have updated recently? I'm glad to do a fix, but I can't find a problem.
Lyncor 4 May, 2012 @ 8:23pm
Gaaah! Your update broke on my machine.

Now every time anything happens in the game (including menus, saves, loads, etc) it plays the "mage armour" sound.

-Really- annoying, as I'm sure you can imagine!

Weird, right? Anyways, I've had to disable it for now. Thanks in advance for a fix.
Throol  [author] 4 May, 2012 @ 1:09pm
What other sound categories would you like a slider for? I can check out the possibilities, and add to this mod if doable.
Throol  [author] 4 May, 2012 @ 1:07pm
@Saint_Void New update should control grunting/heavy breathing of Summon Familiars and crackling of Fire Atronachs (and idle sounds of other atronachs)! I did not add the whistling sound of bound weapons, as that would affect the sounds of ALL bows, two-handed, and one-handed large weapons.
Throol  [author] 27 Apr, 2012 @ 10:50am
I'll see what I can do as soon as Steam lets me run the Creation kit...
Saint Void 26 Apr, 2012 @ 10:19pm
This doesn't by chance change the sound levels of grunting/ heavy breathing of Summon Familiars, whistling sound of Bound Weapons and the crackling of Fire Atronachs does it? It would be awesome if it did.

(can you tell I play a summoner)
Throol  [author] 23 Apr, 2012 @ 9:43pm
Oh, I'm not concerned - I'm glad to see that 40 other people are finding it useful.
MalZen 21 Apr, 2012 @ 4:02pm
I really thing you are on to something; you just had bad luck when you chose to release the mod and it was pushed into the shadows too quick. I'm sure many more people would sub if only they knew this mod existed. dont give up
Throol  [author] 11 Apr, 2012 @ 8:07am
@Malzen333 It wouldn't be too hard to do additional sound sliders; the tricky part with how I did this one is that it quiets all sounds of the given type, including those from NPC's. With Silent Spells, since I left the impact sounds out, you still hear everything you need to from the NPC casters. The Footsteps slider in the vanilla game is the same as what I would put in with this method. I could definitely do things with weapon sounds, though, would just need to know exactly what sounds to control.
MalZen 10 Apr, 2012 @ 5:17pm
if you figured out how to do this im sure you would have one of the most popular and used mods if you added the ability to tweak all or most audio in the game through settings. like me for instance, cant stand my own feet stomping or the loudness of sheathing some weapons.
Throol  [author] 8 Apr, 2012 @ 9:25pm
If you just want that annoying Restoration chime gone, check this out! http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=21639
