Adding new options with such effect to existing combat events is in theory trivial, However, I believe it would require to override the whole event (copy the whole event to a file within the mod folder and modify it by adding new options). I am hesitant to do that within the scope of this mod as it would lead to incompatibilities with other mods that might be overriding same events. However feel free to go crazy and create an extension mod that is based on this.
To avoid this it is a good idea to maintain good behavior that would not draw unnecessary attention... or to have other vampires in your court that could be used as scapegoats.
Leveling up events are triggered by random "mean_time_to_happen". You get from Fleddgeling to Regular Vampire in ~5 years. It takes another ~25 to reach Ancilla, and extra ~70 years to get to Elder. After ~100 more years you get to the Ancient level. I think the number of years are reasonable, but since it is random, you might get lucky and promoted much earlier.
Also diablerizing some other more powerful vampire might have sped it up?
But in my opinion, you become an elder vampire a little too fast. It would be more fun if it took longer and felt like more of a journey.
Still, it’s a great mod and I really enjoy using it!
I really really wanted to avoid having to constantly support this in case something changes in the vanilla game - cross mod compatibility was a nice side effect :D
Creating a vampire dynasty is quite entertaining
- For games already in progress similar event will be repeated on an adult character inheriting your titles or child ruler coming of age.
- Alternatively you can either use character editor to grant yourself Vampire trait or use an in-game console command `add_trait vampire`.
Here some information about console commands and how to run them in case you are unfamiliar: https://ck2.paradoxwikis.com/Console_commands
This mod also gives an option to embrace a new vampire into your family and accept them as your heir.
After googling for a bit I came at this rather extensive list of other mod related things to check: https://appuals.com/fix-steam-workshop-not-downloading-mods/
Hopefully something from that list could help you out.
I can only suggest to clean up the mod folder, subscribe/unsubscribe and reboot the game a few times - maybe something crashed and got stuck in a weird state and need some help cleaning up. I don't think there is anything I can do on my end, since I have no way to control how the mod gets downloaded.
Double check if if the mod is download properly and whether it is enabled in the launcher. An easy way to check if the mod is set up properly is to look for an extra trait in the ruler designer.
Once you get a taste for it, there is plenty of info about how scripts work on ck2 wiki.
Suggestion, a setting to increase the power of vampiric traits (except combat which is already big). By WoD lore I'd like to approximate, a 200-year old vampire should be very powerful, able to read and manipulate kine minds, infiltrate and eavesdrop unnoticed, easily assassinate mere mortals, etc. Getting only +5 intrigue, for example, at the top tier is underwhelming.
I know it's unbalanced and not for everyone, but as an option, it'd be great to have.
