Also, the reason the SEALs don`t show up is because the unit you changed into the SEALs (elite Warriors or something) gets its name overwritten when you cach the game - to fix, copy the unit and give it a new unused unit ID so the game can include both.
To add Units to build as already researched, you need to add the unit ID to the known tech list in the corresponding CVP file before you cach.
I have been toying with the idea of doing this for the 1982 Falklands War scenario doing just this, but it is a lot of work. May do it when I get time. When done, the UK/Argentina get to fight with near authentic units and the rest of the big boys (US/Fra/USSR/China...) get to build units dated for 1982 or1983 right off the bat....makes for great 1980s Cold War gameplay.
US Marine Force Recon - mostly for flavor.
Headquarters units added as a Transport Unit? Simulate Command and Control with a boost to supply, maybe spotting range and some defensive stats. The higher the headquarter unit: Brigade, Division, Corps, Army, the more supply they have and defensive stats. Make them really expensive and take some time to build. Way, way back, years ago, the game had a Headquarters Like unit that was for a capture the flag scenario or something. Once it was destroyed that country capitulated. Don't know if that unit is still in the game hidden in the files somewhere. But again mostly flavor stuff for RP and setting up division, corps, and armies.
Thanks again, keep up the good work.
can I continue play my last saved game or need to start a new one?
The special operations units like US Army Rangers, US Army Green Berets, US Army Special Forces moved to recon are great. Good flavor. However, I couldn't find the US Navy SEALS. I looked down a couple research trees and still could not find them. Might have missed something.
Also was it intentional to have to research them up to get to current tech level? Same with Russian Spetsnaz starting in 2020 at cold war level? Just curious, would love to see those at current levels ready to start, especially considering that most SR games start with global conflicts firing off within a couple of months.
Thanks for your work!
