Glad to hear. Yes, forgot to suggest to change the default order to 'hold' and then back to 'sector explorer'. Usually that resets the script variables associated with the ship.

@Assailer

Thank you very much for the assistance.

So I just uninstalled it now and reinstalled the mod and tried again. It appears to be working now.

I monitored the flight path and my ship is now flying in the hexagon pattern. Not sure why that worked but it is.
Tokra70 20 Oct @ 11:23am
Mookster,
There might be something wrong with yours, because mine works perfectly. I just checked it, sent a ship to explore, and saw if it followed the hex route. It follows it nicely. Game version v8.03, latest hotfix installed.
Assailer  [author] 20 Oct @ 10:54am
Mookster, i will check this in a few days (probably around the weekend).
Mookster 20 Oct @ 10:48am
@Assailer,

I have indeed, my settings are as per the link: https://imgur.com/a/Oe1e558

I have ensured that it is the default option and there are no other orders given to the ship. When I approve it, my ship begins flying in random directions. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

The only other mod I am using is the crystal rarities mod.
Assailer  [author] 19 Oct @ 10:17pm
Have you verified that your default option is set to sector explorer and there are no other orders given to your ship?
Mookster 19 Oct @ 10:56am
Nah mod is broken. Followed the instructions as per the screenshot.

Scout just flies in random directions and doesn't follow the hexagon pattern as shown in the screenshot.

Running the game with all of the latest DLCs and 8.0 diplomacy update.

How does the satellite probe setting work? because it doesnt doe anything when i tick it off and save or tick it on and save. the ship continues to manually fly through part of the sector go into the next and so forth. im very confused because i am either doing something wrong and dont know what or it doesnt work for me. help or explainations are appreciated.
MFADLD 2 Oct @ 5:15am
this works fine, but one only problem by me is that the scout ignored my blacklist of travel im setting and gos into the xeon sector.
Assailer  [author] 28 Sep @ 9:59pm
Just tested and it works fine in my game.

Make sure you configured the default behavior for that ship and its not running any other order.. like the default explore commands. Check the 3rd attached image, it shows the order queue is empty and default order is set to sector explorer.

Also, there are some mod makers who base their mods on mine and forget to change the mod ID which will cause malfunctions during initialization.
Aether 27 Sep @ 5:55am
After installing it, it didn't work as expected. No hexagon, ships become numb and the ingame sector command broke, even after uninstalling it.
Emperors Zealot 26 Sep @ 7:01pm
Hi. I seem to be having some trouble with the mod. When i set their behavior to sector explore, the scouts fly either way above the map plane or way below. Often discovering nearly nothing while doing so. I send them out on the default behaviors the mod comes with. Any thoughts?
Tanksaawk 12 Sep @ 8:13am
Works with 8.0.... I am using it right now
Gaven 12 Sep @ 4:59am
This still works with current patch?
jusjac 8 Sep @ 12:27pm
Is there a notification for when a ship finds a data vault? With "visit data vaults" and "notifications" enabled ofcourse.
Reithan 24 Aug @ 2:24am
@Assailer about mimick looping - that MAY be user error on my part, trying to test again now - but I thought they may have just not had anything left to explore?
Assailer  [author] 24 Aug @ 2:17am
Thanks Reithan, I will look into the reported issues after the next major patch is out.
Reithan 23 Aug @ 11:24pm
The order settings don't seem to look like the mod screenshot here anymore. The option to obey global blacklist seems to be missing, and my exploration ships keep wandering into Xenon fleets in hostile territory and dying.
Tacombel 21 Aug @ 4:13am
Thank you!!!!
Assailer  [author] 17 Aug @ 10:02pm
Taco, that will change the exploration style. Pilot will park at the middle of the sector instead of flying around. It will use a remotely controlled probe to do the exploration which gave better results in fog removal back in the days.
Tacombel 17 Aug @ 12:27pm
What do Satellite probes do? Great mod, by the way.
Iamnuff 10 Aug @ 7:00am
Does this behaviour make your scouts ignore sector blacklists?

I keep having my scouts fly into Xenon territory (in defiance of their orders) and die.
Hanover 9 Aug @ 9:03pm
you have satellite probe on thats why
Mudkest 19 Jul @ 4:45am
Like tom asked, is it possible to change the hexagon pattern to be flown at "0" y? As it is now, my explorers miss most of the stations in the first search, then again miss them all cause theye fly "above" the ecliptic. As it is now I am better off doing the spiral search manual and forget about this script.
Assailer  [author] 12 Jul @ 12:38am
They fly there to avoid those pesky asteroids.
-Tom- 12 Jul @ 12:31am
Very nice mod! Although I noticed that my ship flies above (+y) the ecliptic plane... Is this intentional or can I change it so it would fly at 0 y? Thanks!
Assailer  [author] 6 Jul @ 12:44am
0-2k means how far from the sector core your ship will travel around - disk's radius.
NukerMunky 5 Jul @ 2:51pm
Could i get a more in depth explanation of "Exploration Distance" (0 KM - 20k KM) slider?

I'm still pretty new to the game, and becuse there's no tooltip pop up there, i'm kinda just guessing what it means.

All the other params are pretty pretty obvious though. Also gotta say, i fucking love this mod, btw.
Thanks so much Assailer.

Will use this the MOMENT it is for download else where. Can not stand Steam's auto-install for mods you "subscribe" to.
koshea69 11 Jun @ 6:52am
Love this mod! It's a staple of my early game, probably moreso than any other mod. Especially now with the Sport Ships from Timelines. I am interested in what the "Satellite Probes" option does though. There's no description of it, I know your other mod is the one that actually drops satellites and checking and unchecking doesn't have any noticeable affect on how they go about their job.
Red eye Jedi. 11 Jun @ 5:55am
Hey so I have 6 scouts out on sector explore. 5 of them just opick a spot and sit there rotating occasionally. If I cancel the order and fly them to the Hex centre and re issue SecExplore they fly back to the same spot to rotate....any advice?
ParGellen 1 Jun @ 5:31pm
Odd thing happened today. My explorer was in a system with one of my adv satellites and when Sector Explorer kicked in the ship flew straight up quite a ways and then the adv satellite started flying around the sector while the ship sat still. As soon as I canceled the Sector Explorer job the satellite disappeared. I am very confused lol.
Assailer  [author] 27 May @ 10:51am
Yes, you can configure them to do current system only or keep exploring to next one.
Hornzey 26 May @ 12:43pm
does this make them only explore one system or do they move on once they've discovered everything. id love to not have to micromanage scouts
Skyr34per 26 May @ 6:10am
Hi Assailer, thanks for the quick response. Will try as suggested.
Assailer  [author] 26 May @ 5:43am
No, but make sure you configured the default behavior for that ship and its not running any other order.. like the default explore commands. Check the 3rd attached image, it shows the order queue is empty and default order is set to sector explorer.
Skyr34per 26 May @ 5:37am
Do I need skilled pilots? My pilot is just doing to normal fly in any directions like normal.
Ronchi 16 May @ 10:03am
first it locates gates I believe then it will start the hex pattern, at least this is what I have observed
Niebe 15 May @ 2:32pm
Sadly the mod doesn't work for me.

The scout has explored 10% of the sector in 15 minutes going back and forth as erracticly as the main game.

I have tried checking and unchecking some options to no avail.

I am not using any other mod.
Moja 30 Apr @ 3:52am
But anyways, thanks for all the nice an helpful mods
Moja 30 Apr @ 3:52am
It would be cool, if there ist an option to scan all the found stations to at least 50% while exploring a sector.
Mayjori 26 Apr @ 10:20am
@Nightfish I have the same issue, ive tried black listing both the faction and the sectors. It MIGHT be that they are ignoring it because there is no where else to explore (at least close by).
Nightfish 24 Apr @ 4:55am
Not sure if this is intended, but it seems that this mod ignores blacklists. I've globally disallowed all Xenon sectors and yet my explorers constantly try to go there, with predictable results.

how to remove notification? always notify me even thou its done... thanks
Jacob Ellemann-Jensen 17 Apr @ 8:58am
Is there any way to make it possible for other explorer ship to mimic commanders behavior, with sector explorer?
Mayjori 17 Apr @ 8:08am
how does satellite probe work?
MooOooN 17 Apr @ 1:25am
For me, "Skip Hexagon Pattern" option is unchecked by default but the ship is not exploring in hexagon pattern. Ship started from south-east to straight north-west, then back to south-east to unexplored area.
It is exploring though but not in hexagon pattern
QuietMan 10 Apr @ 1:42am
minor thing: If the satelite "drop zone" is in hazardous area, my ships die without warning. Can you include a warning message/alert for such cases? Just in case the lazy X player forgets to exclude such sectors :)
Thanks for the mod.
