hey bluecube, are you still working on this? instead of having soulfire, why not make his passive upgrade both spellpower and attackpower at the same time, make it easier to hit critical mass, but its still difficult

The idea of this kit is really cool (nice looking sprites too!), constantly upgrading your weapon, but the inclusion of Soul Fire ended up splitting my attention between the two. Also, Bass seems to require a really small deck to work well, but I found myself needing stronger cards to buff his buster during the early game due to Darknet being timed and HelzRol- I mean, Power Saws' cost being all of his starting mana. Then again, replacing Darknet with something like Glassify would make it too easy to land finishing blows, so I can't say I'm not sure what could replace that.

Also also, does his buster damage count as spell power? I fought a Ghast using it and it was taking 1 damage per shot.

this is amazing, it is probably a bit op because with a decent seed its way easier to get to end game in my opinion, i've beaten the neutral boss once and just need the pacifist and genocide route next

OMG i honestly beat the game with Bass. Honestly i love how broken he can become if you grind his passive if you get the ice stage early on.

After spending ALOT of time with Bass i have to say he is my fav style out of either mods or classic OC's in the game.

So what builds should i be using. So far I'm actively attempting to run Shield chips for defense and Root chips seeing how his attacks almost define a late game play and nothing is more annoying hen missing your Soul fire for a last hit.

i kinda wish there was a way for him to have Giga crush from MMB3 as a power two. just watching him slam forward braking everything 1x3 cracking floors. Over all i think the set up is pretty good. A skill that increases the number of charges. Im guessing to make up for this pretty worhtless weapon.. I also like hell wheel and the other two skils that increase Bass's power My main issue is that with dark net. Without a powerful atack in the ready it honstly hard to land in any meaningful way. At least that's what i seen.

@Mr. Pixel yeah, too bad it's currently the only way to build him that works reliably from the start. if you want to build fragile to buff his attack power or to run a soul fire consume build then you're better off waiting for glassify and just getting rid of darknet when it pops. darknet's a cool spell, sure, but I don't really see the point in it when you can just replace it with glassify and automatically make your life easier. about the only thing darknet has going for it is the AoE effect, but the mana cost it has is too high to synergize off of soul fire in order to make that work, so it ends up being impossible to use unless you ramp mana gems or get a flower early on. I think the easiest solution to fix this is to either get rid of the 3 second timer on darknet altogether, lower the mana cost so that you can actually synergize it with soul fire, or make it non consumable so that you don't have one three second slot that's easy to fuck up.

Honestly I just upgraded virus spell and tried keeping my deck as low as possible. Since it has zero cost you can do a fuckton of damage after a few shuffles with, lets say, the frost upgrade.

@Zen Yeah sorry about that, it makes things too slow and feels bad to play. I'll be changing the mana regen to normal and replacing Soulfire with a non consumable spell.

how the hell are you suppose to play this guy when 2 of his important key spells are consumable with not enough MP to benefit from it? Seriously I have to spend 5 minutes in a fight shuffling the deck and build up enough virus shots and make sure I don't waste the other spells?

Hmm... I was throwing that the spell power suggestion in there as an 'Easter egg' for @cycloneSP suggestion lol xD, but I do agree... Balance is rough lol...

It probably would smooth it out a bit, but then you have the problem of gaining spellpower from each stack, making your spells overly strong instead. I do think it can do with a boost in base damage however. I'll definitely test out your suggestions though, they're much appreciated.

I get the whole limitation on stacks for late game but don't forget Execute Shiso money build is a thing lol late game is late game... Even with the divided scaling I mentioned it would scale too fast? I thought that suggestions would smooth it out much more evenly.

The limitations on stacks is due to how strong it is late game. If you get some root cards you can win just about any fight with ease. I initially had the starting fragile card as Glassify, but it allowed you to gain a stack off of every single enemy with little trouble. Same for requiring multiple Fragile stacks, though that limitation is also partially because of modding limitations atm. I will focus on making the earlier stages more fun, they are pretty rough atm. I'll most likely swap out Soulfire and maybe add a spell at least.

Unfortunately at the moment we can't make our own status effects, so I can't make the stacking exclusive to Darknet unless I tie the stacks to killing with a specific card.

Great mod, love the idea, kinda OP (beat true geno first try) but it doesn't bother me. Its a "soul draining" mod,and that is awesome. Only changes would be higher penalty on absorbtion and allow absorption to work only with Darknet. Only complain is that while Soulfire fits the theme of the character, the first floor seems to drag a lot,but its a fair disadvantage.

I know you mentioned changing the kit around, I have some suggestions that doesn't change the overall theme but may be balanced and still follow how this mod works. I would change his artifact to work off of killing an enemy regardless of how many fragile stacks they have and make it so he gains spell power (Or gain spell power off of killing hostages), Have his weapon start with 3 damage per shot and gain more attack power at a ratio compared to spell power (maybe something like 1 attack per 3 - 5 spell power), Have the starting kit contain Glassify, Sweeper, Soulfire, and Virus Spell (If that's too powerful replace one of the spells with the spell Focus). With those changes he both has synergy with his base kit, has cards he can go for that has good synergy with his base kit and can still play other styles comfortably.

Mod is bomb super high quality, some feedback if you want to hear from a different perspective. He starts off way, way too slow... I mean I thought execute Shiso started off slow. He has way too many drawbacks, Slow shuffling - remove that, darknet replace with glassify, and his basic attack, I know its supposed to scale but jeez... 1 damage on a 1 tile 4 squares ahead basic attack... feels gross especially with how unnecessarily difficult it is to scale up, and also his artifact why multiple stacks of fragile required to feed off of? Seems super unnecessary. You're better off throwing the whole kit away except Virus spell and finding card synergies with just that... Which is only like 2 other cards.

I found bismuth, ruby, and laserpointer....

i may have a new favorite deck type over fire and ice, so thank you for providing a character that starts with a key component!

Originally I wanted to, I had planned to adapt a lot of his kit from the games into his loadout but it ended up being way too strong so I had to cut most of it unfortunately. I might add it back in since I'm probably going to swap out his 2 attack spells at some point.
