The idea was to be excessive. At the time we wanted a scanner that just did everywhere that the game was actively rendering. But this was years ago and I am unsure if this will even still works. The original version was 5000km, but that caused severe and instant lag with more than I believe 3 people online,.

2500km or 2500m? 2500km seems excessive and would riddle your screen with info.

Is that a typo or can it detect an ore across planetary systems?
For reference the diameter of Earthlike is 120km. (I think)
I think that's some kind of typo.

Thanks for this mod, works great in singleplayer so far. I could understand how this would lag in multiplayer though, or with a slow computer.

What mod is this extended from? Is this a port of an existing mod? Curious as Id like to try out other ranges and see where it is that my CPU fries ;-)

Its hard for me to conceive that in this science fiction future with jump drives and miniature nuclear reactors, that ore detection is worse than it is in 2021 IRL. 5 KM sounds like a good start ;-)

This has to do with, that every time you move, it has to send another ray out to detect ores. And at this huge range, it means a huge amount of area. We talk here a circumference of over 15 000 km, which is insanity to update for the game.

It breaks the game in moving ships with the detector on. In my instance when i started a new game and had the ore detector on the respawn ship, and started lifting it, the game freezes, and wont respond. Tried other long range mods (about 1km on small detectors), and happens to all of them.

Its fine when the ship is stationary, but soon as it moves the game freezes

Glad to hear it's working. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the feedback.

Nvm, found a way to fix it:
Seems like the mod has to be at the top of the used mods to work, no idea why

I can't adjust it over the default 250 or whatever the standard cap is
Riddla  [author] 28 Mar, 2020 @ 11:16am
@DarquosLeblack Is it not working at all, or are you lagging? When you open a detector you should be able to adjust it past the default, but it will start at the default size not the upgraded one.

Doesn't seem to work for me :(

WAY better Ore Detection .
