Well that's a crazy coincidence. I had to google it to make sure you weren't tryin to throw me for a loop there but wow. That is a lot of similarities. I actually named it the wailing caverns because I was intending to have a sort of puzzle thingy at the end involving actual wailing statues that you could hear throughout the caverns, but I ended up cutting that section and just kept the name because I thought it sounded cool.

There is literally a dungeon in world of warcraft called the wailing caverns and the theme of the dungeon is that there is a realm that captures dreamers in the cave :torielsad:

That prince of persia thing sounds cool, I'll have to check it out

Never played it but I see the art resemblance

Reminds me of Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. The "Wraith" version of the prince uses the Wraith mask's power to go back in time to "outlive" himself in order to correct his mistake.

I'm working on/off on a mod that redoes a LOT of mechanics and adds new ones. A range revamp is definitely something that would be interesting to fiddle around with. Currently I'm gonna be releasing my nerf to jumpkick soon for ppl to test. It nerfs jumpkick in a way that I think is very fair, putting a greater requirement on accuracy and a greater punishment for missing, without actually decreasing the damage of a full power jumpkick.

have you ever thought of making a range revamp? getting rid of the ghostreach on weapons and melee attacks there may be a problem with the knees though becuase those are very short without ghostreach, and i also suspect you may have to change the range of which AI initiates attack? but i just think it would make the combat more intimate and rewards you for staying out of range at the right times

While in the map, go into editor mode. From the top menu, choose Settings, Debug, Campaign Progress(Dangerous), Unlock Level In Campaign, Wailing Caverns. Select the level you want to unlock. Then when you go into the campaign menu, that level should be available.

As a tip, if you want to try to tackle the maze one last time, the exit is randomly placed in one of four places in the map (mostly around the corners of the map and one edge). The trick is to avoid the black shadows while searching each corner of the map till you find the exit.

is there a way i can skip the maze? like a command to clear the level. not a fan of mazes or puzzles because my iq is single digit

Alright, no worries!

Honestly I'm not sure if I'm gonna revisit that map (assuming everything still works properly). However I do intend to take some of the ideas there and revisit them at some point.

Oh yeah, the whole puzzle thingy. If I remember right, the entrance to the maze(the end of the cavern) was gonna be guarded by a puzzle involving harmonics. You would hear the 'wails' through the cavern, and when you got down to the end of the level there would be this creepy setup with rabbits held captive by machines that kept stabbing them, causing them to let out spooky wailing noises with certain tones. You would have had to manipulate the machine to create a harmonic chord that would open the door and lead you to the creepy room with the exit to the maze.

All I really read down below was that the things that were cut would have made the name 'wailing caverns' make more sense, and I was curious as to what that would be. I don't know much more than that, sorry.
Fason7  [author] 3 Sep, 2021 @ 11:34am
Honestly it's been so long that I've forgotten what was cut on this one. Could you remind me?
Blaugh 3 Sep, 2021 @ 2:26am
I know it's been a while, but have you considered finishing the cut bits now that the map jam's long since over?

Thanks for your criticism! I really appreciate the feedback. It's always difficult trying to balance making things challenging and keeping things fun, and I'll definitely keep your feedback in mind.

I think its well-designed, though i have my criticism of this mods unforgiving nature .

This mod requires near perfect coordination seen only in the better of platform gamers, terrific guessing on not so obvious navigation and a large, LARGE heaping spoon full of luck . But even if you had all those the camera manipulation and animated movement makes some of this impossible for the average gamer .

I counted and it took nearly 200 tries just at a single jump thanks to the platforms being at the edge if not nearly out of reach. Unlike the main campaign.

It is more of a self-punishing/head-smashing-a-brick-wall kind of platform jumper as you aren't able to apply your own pace to this mod. Unlike the main campaign. it forces its pace on you.

It is particularly challenging. It has checkpoints... at least there's is that. It succeeds at being different from the usual gameplay seen in the main game. I do like the concept though.

lol k
Fason7  [author] 14 May, 2020 @ 12:34am
Never played Warcraft, I had to google that actually - but no, just a coincidence. There was more planned for this map that I had to cut due to the time constraints of the map jam, and that other stuff would have made the name make more sense.
Gxdslayer 12 May, 2020 @ 6:12pm
Is this suposed to be WC From Warcraft??:steamhappy:
VAKANCY 29 Apr, 2020 @ 9:28pm
It's all cool. I really did enjoy this mod, although I died an enraging amount when the skull comes out during the orange plank parkour part lmao

What you're doing is really unique and I am very glad to hear you plan on doing more.
Fason7  [author] 29 Apr, 2020 @ 7:42pm
Yeah, TurnerVsReceiver has an older version of DHS integrated into it. Pretty much any mod I release from now on involving DHS will conflict with my other mods. I't would be nice to not have to integrate DHS into every mod and just make it a requirement, but DHS updates so often that I would keep having to repair old mods over and over again and I don't really feel like doing that.
VAKANCY 29 Apr, 2020 @ 6:15pm
Just a heads up, this mod also conflicts with Turner vs. Receiver.
Pixel Pro 22 Apr, 2020 @ 9:19pm
Should put a horror tag
