The Wailing Caverns

Description
In the darkness lies a realm that captures dreamers, drags them into the endless darkness. Some say there is no escape...

This map requires no mods, but it does have Drika's Hotspot merged with it so if you have that mod already installed you will have to disable it to play this campaign.

This campaign was made in a few weeks for the March 2020 Map Jam with the theme Horror. It heavily uses DHS and has some rather experimental game-play in it, so prepare for the unexpected.

It is recommended to have music at a fairly decent volume and to wear headphones. In addition, this map was made with graphics settings very high and it may look rather strange without the shaders and proper lighting, so keep that in mind.

Well that's a crazy coincidence. I had to google it to make sure you weren't tryin to throw me for a loop there but wow. That is a lot of similarities. I actually named it the wailing caverns because I was intending to have a sort of puzzle thingy at the end involving actual wailing statues that you could hear throughout the caverns, but I ended up cutting that section and just kept the name because I thought it sounded cool.

There is literally a dungeon in world of warcraft called the wailing caverns and the theme of the dungeon is that there is a realm that captures dreamers in the cave :torielsad:

Reminds me of Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. The "Wraith" version of the prince uses the Wraith mask's power to go back in time to "outlive" himself in order to correct his mistake.

I'm working on/off on a mod that redoes a LOT of mechanics and adds new ones. A range revamp is definitely something that would be interesting to fiddle around with. Currently I'm gonna be releasing my nerf to jumpkick soon for ppl to test. It nerfs jumpkick in a way that I think is very fair, putting a greater requirement on accuracy and a greater punishment for missing, without actually decreasing the damage of a full power jumpkick.

have you ever thought of making a range revamp? getting rid of the ghostreach on weapons and melee attacks there may be a problem with the knees though becuase those are very short without ghostreach, and i also suspect you may have to change the range of which AI initiates attack? but i just think it would make the combat more intimate and rewards you for staying out of range at the right times

While in the map, go into editor mode. From the top menu, choose Settings, Debug, Campaign Progress(Dangerous), Unlock Level In Campaign, Wailing Caverns. Select the level you want to unlock. Then when you go into the campaign menu, that level should be available.

As a tip, if you want to try to tackle the maze one last time, the exit is randomly placed in one of four places in the map (mostly around the corners of the map and one edge). The trick is to avoid the black shadows while searching each corner of the map till you find the exit.

is there a way i can skip the maze? like a command to clear the level. not a fan of mazes or puzzles because my iq is single digit
