Following up on the conversation regarding Slime Lung and Oxygen Masks.

To be infected by Slime Slung, you Duplicant needs to breathe in contaminated Oxygen. Oxygen Masks will protect your Duplicants since they do not breath in the air of their environment, as long as the masks aren't completely empty.

As evidence, I prefer Oxygen Masks for general purpose base activities and have used them countless times to protect my Duplicants in contaminated areas. As long as they don't run out of Oxygen and need to breathe in the atmosphere, Slime Lung is never a problem.

Yes, and that's just part of difficulty selection. A few years back, I started an ultra hard playthrough, where I playted with Diseases Restored and started on the hardest asteroid. So I knew I better not dig in any infected slime. If you don't want to be prevented from digging in infected slime until you have balm lilies, then don't play with DR or don't play hard asteroids.

@n3mes1s is right, there is no Balm Lilly on Ceres and on closer planetoids. You need to wait untill 500 Cycle and print them or find and land on Marshy Planetoid.

So in the moment one of your dupes get slimelung (that it will sooner or later unless you completely avoid digging in slime biomes) you expect him to die already... im in favor or making diseases more serious. BUT NOT LETHAL. Thats ridiculous, specially slimelung. Having the resources to make vials in the sick bay and the bed sometimes is not possible. But i guess the modder didnt have this in consideration lol.

the mod needs to be modified to work with frosty planet frost proof effects. otherwise its impossible to play on a frosty planet

Very good question. I've never run the experiment. But I'm inclined to believe the answer is no, O2 masks will not protect against Slimelung. I believe the game mechanics will still consider the dupe to have contact with the infected gas, which will in turn result in Slimelung germs moving to the dupe. When the germs move to the dupe, that will result in the dupe's infection, provided the number of germs is above the infection threshold.

Whereas, Atmo Suits are coded in the game mechanics to prevent dupes from having contact environmental gas and liquid for purposes of germ transfer.

Once you make the level 2 medicine out of Balm Lily flowers and can administer it with a level 2 skill doctor, the lethal threat is relieved. As long as you don't dig slime that's polluted with slimelung, all the slimelung germs are contained from the start of the game. That gives you time to advance to the medicine. I've literally built buildings on polluted tiles of slime without any worry of infection.

nice idea, but its impossible to start on cold asteroids as dupes die in seconds.. the temperature thing should really have been a separate mod, it has nothing to do with the way diseases worked back in beta

This is nice, but I can't play with it on Ceres, because dupes gets incapacitated by frostbite almost immediately. Even getting to the warm coat and wood burner doesn't save any of them. Would be possible to add a grace period in the first cycles?

mod works fine. the only issue is that they get stuck into doing sick bay and you have to manually stop them. I tested with the mod in Creative and the suits work fine. great mod only issue is the med bay.

Sadly dupes get slimelung while they have atmo suite on and enough oxygen, wash their hands, disinfect etc... I can not find a way around it besides avoiding all slime/slimelung

What is going on with this item. One of my duplicants on both planets CANNOT STOP puking 24/7. In a single cycle they may puke 5, 6, 7 different times. Most times overriding other times they puke, making them puke multiple different times in a row. I cannot do a single thing without having to wipe up puke ever ten seconds. There has to be something wrong.

This is a really good mod! The water germ killer and the diseases rework is absolutely awesome in my opinion, they finally serve an ok threat that's no longer easy to ignore

But it lacks configuration (at least that I don't know of), It'd be awesome if there would be an option to disable something, configure something and etc. It'd also fit casual players like me!

The Frosty Planet Pack came out in July, & there have been multiple updates since then without including a toggle if I'm not mistaken. I wouldn't hold my breath.

Would it be possible to get a grace period or toggle for Frostbite? Playing on the Frosty Planet asteroid is effectively a death sentence, since you're in a low temperature environment.

@HP, mine has been fine. Sounds like your mod might not have updated (even if it says it did). Try using a mod for force updating mods. Or completely unsubscribe from Diseases Restored, then restart game once, then subscribe to DR again, then restart game again.

and 5) i'd just get rid of the germ spread function for zombie spores, imho. its waste of computing power. same with food poison germs. like it looks scary for sure, but it translates to non-issue in reality. If zombie spores can be eaten and get the disease i understand, same with slimelung, but to my knowledge its only thru breathing. See why this spreading is kinda a waste? i mean for slime it sounds interesting-- especially for alge-- but people make spoms. and germy food poisoned air is arguably a good thing to prevent slimelung and the such. So this function is slowing down low end users and making the mod less accessible.

Great mod, but some minor changes need to be coded in. 1) frostbite toggle. this was in ur mod previously. add it back, which is the easiest of changes to do. 2) frosbite changes where one can slide and customize frostbite. -- on frosty planet start this is necessary and on other starts i'd love to slide the slider to frostbite at 0 degrees and heatstroke at >45C 3) more customization, sun nymph is stupid... i'd rather just let the dupe die, cheat, or reload than to ranch shine bugs. 4) frostbite and heatstroke both don't seem to check temps of the dupe rather than surrounding. in real life this makes somewhat sense, too cold doesn't matter how hot u are, leidenfrost effect will only help so much-- but in oni we have cool sweaters, warm coats, suits, etc. and insulation matters. Like I booted into ceres and tried debugging in warm coats and had frost proof dupes, and yet they got frostbite, so what's the point? this is a clear error and override of game behaviors.
