Yeah, that's something that you can get trapped in. I considered making a way to get out of that situation, but many attempts simply lead to a "go in, grab cube, bypass puzzle" situation. I considered to add a way to kill yourself, but playtesters started to consider that they had to go down there. Testing basically told me it was best as the puzzle is now.

haha stupid me i went down into the maze to get the cube then realized totally wrong approach . so i had to start again since there is no way to get out of there. haha

Got you :)

So... you did make it harder for yourself to solve it, which lead you to not need the or button. My idea was basically, I don't want the player to have to backtrack after getting the cube near the exit of the maze. the button turns the flip panel, so you can stand on the button and get a cube through the fizzler easier, and once one button near the exit is set it also toggles so you don't have to walk the entire distance to get cube #2.

I'll check it out tonight. :)

I’m not a fan of maze puzzles, but the maze part of this map was was Ok and pretty easy to solve. I didn’t use one of the buttons that’s connected to the OR gate, so I’m not sure that this is your intended solution ?

Thanks stormsend. :) I'm glad you liked it. Your comment gives me the acknowledgement for why I'm doing this. :) I'll check out your map. Normally I would remove a comment with this, but I'll make an exception this time. :)

I made this a favorite. I had a challenge on both cubes. Each time I got that aha moment and such a good feeling of accomplishment at the end. Finish Very good puzzle and a good looking map as well. I have a recent map that uses cubes and funnels called Hard Logic . Would you come play it for me and give me your opinion. Thank you and keep up the great work.

Damn, that was a good one.

I thought as much, I'm glad portal 2 has a zoom function :)
LPChip  [author] 8 Oct, 2013 @ 8:26am
That glass is there to prevent people from just standing somewhere and escorting the cube out.
nintendo.erk 8 Oct, 2013 @ 8:06am
Very nice cube funneling.
I was a bit confused by the glass at the back wall while getting the first cube, at first I though the glass would stop the cube but the zoom functon told me otherwise :)
Thumbs up!

nice test LPChip. I like it, especially the 2nd part to get the 1st cube.
LPChip  [author] 6 Oct, 2013 @ 12:57pm
Thanks Brave, you found a new way to break the first part. I have fixed it now. I also made the last part of the map quicker. When you have both cubes, there should not be any unnecessary walking needed anymore.

My 2nd playthrough http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UHvLVyEOoo&feature=youtu.be
LPChip, I went ahead and did a full walkthrough.
LPChip  [author] 6 Oct, 2013 @ 9:41am
That would be awesome Brave. :) Thanks.
Brave 6 Oct, 2013 @ 9:29am
I can make a Vid. on getting the first cube, if you like?
LPChip  [author] 6 Oct, 2013 @ 9:26am
Brave, I mean on the first puzzle where you did not need the reversed panel.
Brave 6 Oct, 2013 @ 8:48am
I used the tractor beam then stood on the button to reverse polarity in order to get the cube out of the maze.
I couldn't think of any other way of doing it!
LPChip  [author] 6 Oct, 2013 @ 5:26am
Thanks Brave. I wonder how you got the cube out. I tried preventing from doing an alterative route. I must still have missed one.
Ulviss 6 Oct, 2013 @ 2:12am
nice map
can you try this map ?
Brave 5 Oct, 2013 @ 3:18pm
When I made it to the maze I made the mistake of sending myself in there, and couldn't get back out, then i realized what I had to do to solve getting the cube out. Also theres a flip panel next to the cube dropper that didn't serve a purpose, I never had to use it!
Overall your map was nice and the lighting was fine as well as the puzzles!
I enter my map into the contest "Friend to the End,"check it out...thanks
LPChip  [author] 5 Oct, 2013 @ 9:05am
Thanks Prototype, your demo shows a big miss on my part, especially in the first part. I fixed those now. I have considered doing something on the 2nd part. I changed one portable surface to make it harder at first, but once you got that part, it'll teach you something that makes the rest easier. You did use that technique already though, so for you there's not much gain to replay except for the first part.
Prototype 4 Oct, 2013 @ 4:47pm
My blindrun (15mins): https://www.dropbox.com/s/el7kkd1y4louvg0/tractor.dem Interesting although I found it more tedious than fun, doing slow loops around the first part and then slowly pulling the cube along a path through the maze. I didn't use some panels in the first part, not sure if they would have helped.
LPChip  [author] 2 Oct, 2013 @ 2:11pm
Thanks for your kind words Stagger Lee. I wanted to add more lights, but I was over my entity limit and the map wouldn't load anymore. So I tried to do my best lightwise.
LPChip  [author] 2 Oct, 2013 @ 2:10pm
Thanks for the video DeathWish :) you did solve the map slightly different than intended, but that little difference is only making you go an extra mile.

I was laughing when you actually tried to get the CC past that part in the maze and couldn't.
Only if you already played the map: There are 2 routes in the maze that you can visually see, but because one portable surface is missing, one is eliminated. You tried to go past that one route.

And there's a 2nd technique for the maze: Remember how you can use a lightbridge or funnel to climb in a map? You can use a funnel to move a cube sideways too. It makes certain intersections easier to go in.
Stagger Lee 2 Oct, 2013 @ 1:01pm
If a map can be both tedious AND fun, I think I've found it. The tedious part is the maze but it is still fun but still tedious. It's just a little hard to see through the grating. More lights down there may help. The design of the chamber and the various puzzles in it are very nice and inventive. It has a nice combination of thinking puzzles and precise actions.
DeathWish808 2 Oct, 2013 @ 12:50pm
Well done! Had fun with this one. Nice concept. I played it again a 2nd time just to see if I could get the 2nd cube out in the alternate route and did, but it was tricky getting the cube in the right spot since funnels autocenter everything.

Difficulty of 4 is about right, but I'd say 6 or so for the casual player.
