Also adding more height makes it even easier than it already is. Teams are way too even still with the slider all the way to one side.
Blue North Star 28 Aug, 2019 @ 3:55pm
"Hills are overrated". xD
Blue North Star 28 Aug, 2019 @ 5:31am
Well i was just thinking of something similar to this map, but completely flat with a small hill in the center, the map dedicated to a KOTH game-style. :3

As for map requests (read in bad lounge singer voice) What do I look like Barry Manilow at a mob wedding? What were you thinking? I am doing a valley push right now. Sadly the editors assets are super limited so my "areas" and themes are just as limited. The new map already feels embarrassing because I'm reusing the same 3 assests over and over because there is nothing else. Normally you could say rotate and scale a rock to make it look different than the last even though they are the same but half the rocks aren't even complete objects so you have to hide parts of them lest they just render as "nothing/translucent."

I tried the AMGR, it's the 10 shot mag fed railgun iirc. Nice design but I don't like how it plays. New map should be "done" soon...as "done" as I can do with the editor still broken/underpowered. Which will bring my "serious" map count to 3.
Blue North Star 28 Aug, 2019 @ 4:12am
Also, map request? :D
Blue North Star 28 Aug, 2019 @ 4:12am
I just use the AMGR, no splash-damage, and pretty good damage. I just never give the bots explosives of any kind though, cause if i do... things go "boom" way to much.

The multiplayer is Windows only so useless for me. Yeah no anti tank, just some busters to keep them on the perimeter. Those guns aren't really for tanks anyhow, just kinda a multi purpose rocket launcher with guide by wire. With a tank up close you'd be more likely to have bots blow your ass up with splash damage. I typically carry a rail gun but with the ammo crates you just gotta take cover and spam grenades. Good use for the China Rain which I think he named "Thumper."
Blue North Star 28 Aug, 2019 @ 2:57am
I just now realized there's no Anti-Tank turrets in the KOTH area...
And yeah, i agree. There is the DLC (Should it even be considered that?) that allows us Multiplayer. (I think?) No idea if there's bots there or not, since i never downloaded or tried it out.

Sadly because RF is single player the AI is the #1 place it needs to excel. Frankly I think the game is good if he fixed the broken misleading UI and game modes. Because there are workshop items the community provides the content, he needs to make the AI top tier, that should be the #1 priority. Fix/finish the editor, fix the UI/game mode options, first class AI...done.
Blue North Star 27 Aug, 2019 @ 5:46pm
There should honestly be an Equipment that lets us see the map from over-head (Birds-Eye View?), but for directing our squads, so we can micromanage where they go. A lot of things are missing when it comes to the bots. Guns are mostly handled by the modders, same with maps, vehicles and skins. But using those mods jacks up the loading time for everything, since the game has to load every weapon, vehicle, skin and map one-by-one, which can take a long time. And yeah, i've noticed them shooting back at attackers. It happens a lot on some small maps, where i'll just walk by an enemy bot, and then get ganked in the back.
Game? More like Grift.  [author] 27 Aug, 2019 @ 5:42pm
Sadly this touches on a topic in one of my bug reports about AI. It's a huge topic but the AI drives me insane. A cap point is being attacked and they just run away firing back at the attackers. They don't collect supplies as needed, they don't even follow basic instructions anymore and the squad leader kit is worthless unless you have actually selected a damn squad. The kit should be more of a CO kit allowing you to radio / direct fire teams and squads on the field based on various criteria. Anyhow I could go on and on. I just know performance is greatly boosted if you take away the AI's ability to spam those damned supply bags.
Blue North Star 27 Aug, 2019 @ 5:36pm
It's only really useful, when you're holding out in a small area, like the KOTH zone, where you can just sit there and not need to go anywhere, provided you don't care about the rest of your zones.
Blue North Star 27 Aug, 2019 @ 5:35pm
Yeah, especially when you consider that IF they run out of ammo, they're screwed, since all the ammo is at the nearest allied spawnpoint. But even that isn't reliable, since if the bots don't spawn there, there isn't gonna be ammo.
Besides that the bots are to stupid to get ammo, they'll just go for their objective till they die, and repeat the same event until they accomplish their objective.
Game? More like Grift.  [author] 27 Aug, 2019 @ 8:19am
Yeah I just disable the packs now and use the kick an enemy for ammo instead. The AI really needs a ton of work on all levels but this mindless spamming of the ammo and health bags is really a performance killer not to mention useless.
Blue North Star 27 Aug, 2019 @ 7:34am
Some of the bots save the health packs for until they encounter hostiles. They all drop the ammo at spawn though, which creates issues when you don't hold any, and run out of ammo far from the nearest allied spawn. And a fix for the bot issue, is to simply not let them use them...
Game? More like Grift.  [author] 26 Aug, 2019 @ 6:08am
cont)...A while back I added some mod where there was a launcher that shot like 30 ammo bags into the air. The game would start and the bots would spam that shit thinking they were normal guns and the game would go from 200FPS to 2fps and die. Fast forward to now and the last while I've noticed in some situations, especially on my other map the Village of al-Harrah bots will all spam their health and ammo packs at spawns for no reason at all. When they do this the game goes from fine to garbage. I think one of the bottle necks is in certain entity counts. This map has high asset count but doesn't affect things negatively on my machines. However the bots spaming those bags and everything tanks. Disable that in the weapon selection for bots and the game is running much better with high bot counts.
Game? More like Grift.  [author] 26 Aug, 2019 @ 6:08am
I feel like I should say "on holdish" since I am still working on the maps a bit. Until the texture swap BS, model/texture/audio import, weather and terrain carving is added I can't finish things as I want. However I have made some big improvements (I think anyhow). I've figured out ways to compensate for some of the broken mechanic issues with the game but I've also found what seems to be another part of the bottle neck in game...EQUIPMENT!

Game? More like Grift.  [author] 20 Aug, 2019 @ 4:35am
Heh...da lure keeps you up! I'd like to be playing but I am trying to finish up some hardware things. At the end of the day I would like to relax with a game rather than beta test and debug shit but it seems impossible to just play a game anymore. One thing about the old console days, it was nice and straight forward.
Blue North Star 20 Aug, 2019 @ 4:31am
Ah. I'll have to check that out later today. Gonna turn in soon, just gotta remove one more mod, then set something up which should last until i come back from work later today...

On a Win machine it will be something like C:\users\$USER\appdata\roaming\blabla
Game? More like Grift.  [author] 20 Aug, 2019 @ 4:26am
You're right and I've noted that in the past too. You can however delete them but in a more manual way. Which is to say they are just text files on the hard drive. /home/$USER/.config/unity3d/SteelRaven7/RavenfieldSteam/GameConfigurations
Game? More like Grift.  [author] 20 Aug, 2019 @ 4:24am
Ah man don't get me started on guns heh. I don't have but a few vehicles I like, most my mods are guns though it feels like a waste. I have gun packs with shit tons of guns I don't care about and won't use just to get "one" from the pack. A lot of the guns I do like in real life don't have single reproductions in the workshop.
Blue North Star 20 Aug, 2019 @ 4:24am
Another thing i just remembered, is the inability to delete Config's, so if you make a few Config's, you can't get rid of them.
Blue North Star 20 Aug, 2019 @ 4:20am
Nah, i usually just remove the ones i don't like, and then remove others that i'm not using, or wont use for a while. Works for me, since i'll usually toss most vehicle/weapon mods pretty quickly after getting, then testing how they fit with my play style, and how i like my guns.
Game? More like Grift.  [author] 20 Aug, 2019 @ 4:18am
See I've never seen a mod limit, though I'd wager it's a memory limit. I've noted before I don't have that much which compounds with terrible load times are even less excusable. I hope you've reported your mods failing to load.
Game? More like Grift.  [author] 20 Aug, 2019 @ 4:17am
Cont)...As for the respawn and high timer there have been a few others complain about similar because they like me want the ability to have no respawns for the bots. The general idea is fake it with an absurd respawn time say 999999 seconds. Much like the broken timers the respawn input on the game set up page allows you to type 999999 into it but it won't actually allow anything over 120 seconds. Again terrible layout and misleading UI. Other things have a slider, even that would make more sense here with a simple min on one side and max on the other. More so stop calling it a Fing respawn, it's a reenforcement interval! Logically it's very different.
Game? More like Grift.  [author] 20 Aug, 2019 @ 4:17am
Heh I write so lots of pages happen. I was thinking about writing an article about this for a more succinct and less ranty all-in-one listing of the issues in hopes of getting SR's attention on things.

One thing when I've reported bugs they are often dismissed in a "works for me" manner. The game feels a bit like dealing with incompetent web designers in the 90's. They'd use some crappy WYISWYG and think because it looks right on their screen and one web browser it looks right in all web browsers and all screen sizes but they never check.

Blue North Star 20 Aug, 2019 @ 4:16am
Another issue seems to be that "too many" mods means after a certain amount, or certain point is hit, mods wont load anymore.
Blue North Star 20 Aug, 2019 @ 3:59am
Btw we've used up 7 pages worth of the Comments section. xD
Blue North Star 20 Aug, 2019 @ 3:58am
Although i've never noticed it myself, since i usually just load up 250 bots, with 3 or 15 second spawn timers.
Blue North Star 20 Aug, 2019 @ 3:58am
That, and there's no GM (Game Mode, shortening it cause i'm lazy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) that allows a match to be truly infinite. You can technically force it into such a state, but it's not easy to do that, especially on some maps, or if there's transport heli's with a high seat-count.
Game? More like Grift.  [author] 20 Aug, 2019 @ 3:53am
Cont)...Meanwhile you're running around unopposed capping points. I've completed maps before the bots spawn. Since the win condition just shows the useless banner rather than stopping the game the bots spawned in on my team and the opfor had no way to spawn in...Again the game is riddled with poorly designed and thought out timers, bottle necked functions and misleading, confusing and functionally disjointed UI...YAY! I want this game to succeed but SR is going to have to really pull his socks up.
Game? More like Grift.  [author] 20 Aug, 2019 @ 3:53am
My gripe with match start is how the games bottle necks leave it out of sync. So for example I can start a match and make it to objectives before any bots load in because the initial spawn is based on the broken ass respawn timer. Have you ever noticed when you die it will say Spawning @ location in 4 seconds only to count down then jump back to the full respawn time? Yeah that is not only misleading BS but if the game starts the timer, then starts the round before a "full" count of the timer you can end up with no bots until it does. Setting my timers high if the game loads fast enough it will be too fast based on the initial count and it will count down, miss the grace period and restart the count.
Blue North Star 20 Aug, 2019 @ 3:45am
Yeah... depends for me, i can end up waiting multiple minutes just for it to load up. Sometimes its like that just to start a match on a certain map.
Game? More like Grift.  [author] 20 Aug, 2019 @ 3:43am
Indeed, the savable user configs is an example of this. Comically you can save weapon and vehicle loadouts but not the map, bot count, game mode. It's idiotic frankly. As you said the complications complicate the basics is also shown in how dysfunctional the config save system is with dealing with disabled mods and so on. More so I don't think the game should load mods at all until requested. It's a huge waste in time and resources to load everything when nothing may be used. Mods should be loaded on request. I know my game start up time with mods is retarded and I don't even have much. One mod (a Helo) stalls the game start up by damn near 30 seconds and I have fast high end drives in RAID 0. The gripes...they go on and on :)
Blue North Star 20 Aug, 2019 @ 3:39am
The map, Bot count, respawn time and the length of the match (Does that even matter? Haven't noticed if it does) SHOULD be a part of the "Configurable". Going through the MUST HAVES should come first, not more content. More content usually breaks more things, or just adds further complications to already existing issues.
Game? More like Grift.  [author] 20 Aug, 2019 @ 2:26am
Cont)... Sadly the game updates slowly and SR seems to focus on silly crap rather than basics. I mean the game doesn't even save your Fing settings yet. How simple is it to make the game remember the last Fing map you selected, how many bots, the game mode, respawn time etc? BASICS!
Game? More like Grift.  [author] 20 Aug, 2019 @ 2:26am
Cont)...I watched a playthrough of the recent DLC in which the player in the video often stated "Arma arma'd itself" because Arma being a broken dumpster fire is a known thing in which is often used as a verb against itself. Even players that love Arma can't deny it's a dumpster fire. The problem is there is no competition other than Squad and that has its own dumpster fire problems. No matter where you turn, nothing is solid in the basics which is where my frustration lies. I was hoping with Ravenfield I'd get a decent shooter with no griefing assholes. Server disconnects, Spyware disguised as Anti Cheat software (though you can debate about Unity since it spies on users), no server outtages or scammy ass "game as a service" issues.
Game? More like Grift.  [author] 20 Aug, 2019 @ 2:26am
No no dude NPC in Arma drive over ANYTHING! They drive straight into buildings and anything else. This is how you end up with so many idiotic physics glitches you have to honestly watch out for trucks falling from the sky. The game is a dumpster fire and it doesn't have the excuse of being Early Access. I'd urge you NOT to try Arma, Bohemia shouldn't be supported. Devs like them keep churning out DLC trying to milk players wallets while never fixing the damned game. Arma is a simulation game as Mark Zuckerberg is a human...It's clunky, broken and it takes almost 60gigs of community addons to make the game decent...of which the recent update broke it all.

Blue North Star 20 Aug, 2019 @ 2:07am
*Comes back to play some Ravenfield cause i couldn't sleep*

Haven't played ARMA yet, but a lot of games with NPC's that can drive vehicles, tend to run you over if you get in front of them 1-2 seconds before they'd reach your position, whereas most human players would be able to either:
1, Stop their vehicle, or at least slow down so the player doesn't drop to 25% or below in HP
2, Swerve/Turn away from the player, so they don't get hit.
I'll have to try ARMA out some time, but i've avoided doing so be its got the Simulation tag, and i'm hesitant to try games like that out.
Game? More like Grift.  [author] 19 Aug, 2019 @ 11:56pm
A lot of people would say 7 to 12FPS is unplayable. 30FPS is considered "shitty console" level play these days and most even dismiss less than 60FPS as we're moving to 244htz screens. I know anything below 20 is pretty laggy and unplayable for me. My FPS has to be at least over 40 with the ADS lag or as soon as I go to AIM the FPS drops to worthless levels and I will miss all my shots. If I could just hip fire I could play at 20FPS but this map is meant for scoped weapons that need to be aimed via ADS. Oh well I suppose some day I'll see if the game gets unferked. Just frustrating because I'm sick of playing COD MW 1 2 and 3 over and over and every other FPS I own is also a dumper fire. FFS ARMA all the AI wall hacks, the civ bots run you and everyone else over, cars launch into the sky for no reason...dumpster fire...the standards for games since "early access" became a thing went from clogged toilet to "worst toilet in Ireland."
Game? More like Grift.  [author] 19 Aug, 2019 @ 11:56pm
A lot of my testing with the bot warp/jitter and bottle necking has been done on Dust Bowl which is pretty low asset count wise. I can't say there is really any difference between workshop and official maps other than size of the map. The smaller the map the more bots you typically see all together which tanks FPS hard where as larger maps where you are more likely to only see a few fighting things run OK. The catch here is just because you don't see them doesn't mean the machine isn't rendering their weapons, actions and pathing elsewhere. This like the ADS lag seems like a bottle neck. Like the bots all need a single use function when in players drawn area and when too many are there at once it starts a nasty cue on that one function until the game shits the bed. As soon as the bots are frolicking elsewhere the function is no longer flooded and all is well...

Blue North Star 19 Aug, 2019 @ 11:44pm
Games FPS counter says between 7 and 12 Frames, but i still run pretty fine, with little to no lag...
But this is on your map, not one of the standard maps, or one of the aforementioned maps that only let me run 250 or below.
Blue North Star 19 Aug, 2019 @ 11:42pm
Using F10 with 400 Bots causes some severe frame drop.
Blue North Star 19 Aug, 2019 @ 11:41pm
Oh yeah, depending on the maps, i can run 400, and on others i can only run 250.
Game? More like Grift.  [author] 19 Aug, 2019 @ 11:38pm
Np and it's F11 for the FPS F10 is bot status/orders.
Blue North Star 19 Aug, 2019 @ 11:38pm
I'll check my FPS real quick. Going to sleep after this though, hungry and tired. xD
