Found something interesting.
Cold caverns, Toxic caverns and Magma Caverns use special code to generate ores lol.
And they totally ignore the settings you have picked.


Toxic caverns set all ores to 900 ore per block.
Cold caverns and Magma Caverns use some method to calculate amount of ore per vein. (I haven't seen any ore in those lol)
I will set them to 2560 too in order to make it look normal.


And another weird thing...
Magmacite (the ore from magma caverns), is considered "crystal deposit" by ore generators and it has the same ore per block as crystal deposit.

The grapple should be finished in about 10min, so I will start your mod soon.

Also the biomass is 2560 in the rapid :D
(amount of blocks is the same for biomass and crystals, the amount of ore inside is different)

Keep it at 2560 in mod (Biomass) or decrease it to 540?

I would suggest than a static amount like rapid vein size for all settings than. So 2560 for ores and 540 for crystal/biomass :-)
The name could than be: "Rapid vein size"

ok... for crystal deposits and biomass growth.
Amount of ore blocks in vein is the same on all settings for both of those.

Right now I have checked code for general ores (biomass and crystal deposts are in different locations)

Greg, Scarce, Plentiful have the same ore per ore block:
-Minimum is 256 ore per ore block, the further from CPH the more ore in block, max 1280 ore per block.

-Rapid is always 2560 ore per block, no matter the distance.

It's up to you. Do you want:
-static amount of ore per block (so it's always the same amount of ore per block, for example each block always has 3k ore, in theory it should work)
-or increase minimum or/and maximum ore per block possible from the default code (the further from CPH the more ore)

Rapid and plentiful have 1.5x more ore blocks per vein.

I think like plentifull would be awesome but maybe make it changeble in config file? (10 = rapid, 0= greg) So poeple could do the reverse too?
I once heard rapid is max you can get...

Oki, once I finish the grappling hook rework I will look if the greg is moddable and try to increase it.
You want them to be as big as rapid? or plentiful? or just certain size (5 bigger than default?)

Also by size you mean amount of ore blocks in the vein OR amount of ore per ore block OR both? (I have seen various people and everyone uses the same word "size" to describe those 3 options)

That doesn't answer my question at all.
When "OR" is in question then "yes" can't be the answer, unless you want both options (increase and decrease vein size at the same time)

Jip, I would like to run a server with greg but focus on building the capacity to launch the orbital but don't wanna look for veins everyday...
Greg => need more ore a bar, have a challenge with power...

Hey Wariat117, I would like to make a suggestion for a mod. I would like to play a greg game but with max veins density as I want the logistic challenge without hooking up 100 veins... If you could make that, it would be very awesome! 😊

In the vanilla the "MK5 Forced Induction" works underground, ARC doesn't.
But still... the ore smelter doesn't work (doesn't work = sets smelting time to 17min per bar, aka 1024 seconds, everything other is untouched)


The ARC smelter and MK1-4 forced inductions underground increase smelting time by 4x (that's the only effect of being underground, all other forced induction stats like power usage, max power, speed of temperature gain or amount of ore picked up in single tick aren't affected by depth)

MK5 forced induction underground does the same as on surface (decreases smelting time by 4x)

just curious have not tried it but shouldn't arc smelters work underground without penalty by default.
