i'm sure it came after many updates. The good news is,... it was reported, KSH was able to reproduce the issue, all is well
Smokki  [author] 24 Jul @ 7:23am
Hmm, that was not intended. It could be caused by the default targeting of the turrets or also by some ownership issues. I wish I had the time to fix it but I don't :/
_Harbinjer 22 Jun @ 10:54pm
when i load the lost colony scenario, the interior turret near the Vaughn Brothers Mine and their home opens fire and causes damage to the two buildings as well as expending all their ammo, making them ineffective. I'm curious if this is intended. If it is not intended, is there some way that i can stop or prevent this from happening before the scenario loads? This happens as soon as the scenario loads. I am guilty of changing a few things in the advanced options, I don't use mods
Smokki  [author] 9 Aug, 2024 @ 4:29am
He's doing one too.
ABlueHairedFox 9 Aug, 2024 @ 12:26am
Oh? I thought that was FlyingFish19 who was doing that.
But still! Don't mind if I send a friend request? I'd love to talk about this a bit more!
Smokki  [author] 8 Aug, 2024 @ 11:57pm
Thanks! Still hope I get to rework this to current standards one day. Maybe when I'm done with my Black Mesa world.
ABlueHairedFox 7 Aug, 2024 @ 6:58am
I think you've set the gold standard for SE cities / colonies. I really hope to see more from you!
Smokki  [author] 21 Jun, 2024 @ 10:20am
It's old and pretty much just for show so no missions or anything like that.
pryde64 21 Jun, 2024 @ 6:01am
so the main aim of this is mining and upgrading or is there missions you have to do
SILVEREAGLE2020 17 Sep, 2023 @ 2:14am
@Smokki I will provide the link back here for credit. Thank you and much respect.
Smokki  [author] 17 Sep, 2023 @ 2:01am
@SILVEREAGLE2020 If you like, you can rework it as much as you like and release it as your own version, just make sure to give link and credit to the original :) I was planning to eventually update this myself too, but I'm working on much bigger world at the moment so it remains to be see when I would have time to update this.
SILVEREAGLE2020 16 Sep, 2023 @ 9:22pm
Hey nice work here. I was just wondering if you planned on doing any updates to this?
If not I would like to take it over and update it. As some have said needs more as in npc's and such.
Smokki  [author] 2 May, 2022 @ 6:31am
@Captain Redbeard Hey! Yeah absolutely. Feel free to modify and change the map as much as you like for that purpose too :)
Captain Redbeard 2 May, 2022 @ 6:18am
Hi Smokki, big fan of your work. I have an idea to use this map for a pvp deathmatch. Players drop down in pods and fight their way through the town. Is it ok by you if I use your creation for such a purpose?
JCataclisma 28 Apr, 2022 @ 8:30am
Roger that, sir. I was pretty sure about that. I just had to shamelessly take another opportunity to praise this scenario. :steamhappy: Cheeers!
Smokki  [author] 26 Apr, 2022 @ 11:13am
@cataclism22 Just don't get your hopes up too much, it's still gonna take some time :D
JCataclisma 26 Apr, 2022 @ 7:20am
I´ve just fixed my gaming note, after SO-FREAKIN´-MANY months and, just after reinstalling SE, I read this.

AWESOME news as expectative! :steamhappy:

Cheers!

"That's exactly the idea :) It would be Carcosa Valley Colony evolved into a small town. "
Smokki  [author] 8 Apr, 2022 @ 12:37am
@IIChoochII That's exactly the idea :) It would be Carcosa Valley Colony evolved into a small town.
IIChoochII 7 Apr, 2022 @ 11:22pm
If you do end up updating it, can you upload it as a new world. Your builds have a nice nostalgia and plus it would be nice to see how Carcosa Valley has progressed in 5 years.
Smokki  [author] 2 Apr, 2022 @ 10:18am
@Spacecruiser Glad you like it, even though it's quite old and outdated these days. Was having a quick look at it recently and I might be finally doing a proper update to this world.
Spacecruiser 31 Mar, 2022 @ 4:28pm
Amazing work
Priam 1 Sep, 2021 @ 11:27am
I would but the stuff I play around with isn't vanilla friendly :steamhappy:
Smokki  [author] 1 Sep, 2021 @ 10:59am
@Ranger Nope, but feel free to start one if you like :)
Priam 1 Sep, 2021 @ 7:28am
Is there a thread where poeple have uploaded there own additions?
CTH2004 10 Aug, 2021 @ 10:46am
fair enough
Smokki  [author] 10 Aug, 2021 @ 3:20am
@CTH2004 Possibly if there's time, I just have very limited time :P
CTH2004 9 Aug, 2021 @ 12:23pm
amazing builds, is this one ever going to be worked on more?
Smokki  [author] 7 Aug, 2021 @ 8:30am
@KazzDaFish Thank you :) Yup that's pretty much my biggest dream in SE, to have a little bit of life in the planets.
KazzDaFish 7 Aug, 2021 @ 5:20am
Your creations are amazing Smokki! You really do be giving life to these otherwise empty planets :))
Smokki  [author] 22 Jun, 2021 @ 9:07am
If you mean from the G-screen as a block, then you have to modify some files a bit so that it shows on the list or there's probably also a mod that enables them. These can't be removed with grinder but you can remove these in creative mode though.
Admiral Baguette 22 Jun, 2021 @ 7:22am
so these are accesable?
Smokki  [author] 22 Jun, 2021 @ 3:48am
I don't think I can really do that and it would be quite a lot of work too, though if you know what to do, you should be able to remove at least those dead astronauts by editing the SANDBOX_0_0_0_.sbs file in your save and looking for "LargeDeadAstronaut" entries.
Admiral Baguette 21 Jun, 2021 @ 8:36am
it would be cool if you published lost colony without dead engineers and dammaged stuff
idk even how you acces the dead engineers with skeleton faces.
Smokki  [author] 21 Jun, 2021 @ 8:34am
Yup :P
Admiral Baguette 21 Jun, 2021 @ 8:28am
smokki did you make lost colony scenario?
Smokki  [author] 3 May, 2021 @ 6:18am
Part 2: You can change the orientation of the voxel shape in similar way you rotate blocks and change the voxel material in similar way you color for blocks. Also similar to blocks, you place, remove and paint voxels.

After that's it's just a practice and patience. It can be easier to make the roads in spectator mode so you can adjust the camera speed so you have more precise control. I personally try to just skim small part of the ground layer away and after that paint it with dirt.
Smokki  [author] 3 May, 2021 @ 6:18am
Part 1: You'll have to use the voxel hands for that. From the voxel hand category select the capsule shape. Then change the settings of the capsule so it's easier to use. I've changed this key so I don't remember what's the default but you can check it by pressing F1 -> advanced controls -> Voxel hands -> Open voxel hands settings.

From the voxel hands settings, I would disable the "snap to voxel grid" box so it's easier to make smooth roads. It can be also helpful to change the brush transparency to a bit darker so you'll see the shape better. Change the shape radius and length to your preference.
Codo 3 May, 2021 @ 4:04am
How do you do the roads and paths?

Figured I would place down some more buildings (copy paste) to make the colony bigger, but no roads lead to them now
Smokki  [author] 2 May, 2021 @ 2:43pm
@Tokarev Thank you so much :) It's very nice to hear that my creations have been inspiring. Funny thing is that originally I just made a quick screenshot of some fields and buildings but as people liked that so much, I had to expand it into a small colony :D
Codo 2 May, 2021 @ 1:01pm
The most amazing World in all of the Workshop if you ask me

I'm writing this comment to overall appreciate all your work (since you have profile comments off lol) I left an award on your profile, I love your buildings and vehicle, they inspire my building style a lot and I love building especially in that colony, it feels surprisingly calm and peaceful.

I am looking forward to more playtime in it, keep the good work going!
Smokki  [author] 29 Dec, 2020 @ 6:06am
Awesome!
Duck 28 Dec, 2020 @ 6:30pm
Thanks Smokki!

This is the first draft of Suncross Peak Colony

Smokki  [author] 23 Dec, 2020 @ 8:54am
That's awesome :) Yeah absolutely, that sounds great.
Duck 23 Dec, 2020 @ 7:47am
Incredible work Smokki! You've inspired me to have a crack at putting something together myself. Currently using your Buildings and AGI trucks along with the water mod, trying to link remote colonies and outpost by roads and sea.

I see what you mean about the roads needing some patience!

Would i have permission to post it? mainly to get some feedback & other ideas etc
Smokki  [author] 11 Dec, 2020 @ 12:48am
All it takes is a bit of practice with the roads :) Hmm, yeah combining those three worlds does sound quite complex idea and I'm not really sure if it would even be possible. It would for sure be extremely time consuming to do it blueprint by blueprint.
Huxian 10 Dec, 2020 @ 5:28am
They are.. In fact i'm planning on learning to build some myself (saw the link you posted below), they add so much to the gameplay! I don't think i'll be able to make them as smooth as yours though :KSmiley:

Also i'm looking for a way to combine Carcosa Valley and Triton mining outpost to my Sunset Valley world. So far the only option i can think of is using blueprints, but placing them on their exact spot sounds complicated and that works only for the buildings, not the voxels... Any better idea is welcome, i don't mind spending time on that project but i want the result to be very close to the original worlds :)
Smokki  [author] 9 Dec, 2020 @ 11:21pm
@Seb Renard That's so nice to hear, thank you so much! It does take ages to do these roads so it's awesome to hear that they are worth it :)
Huxian 9 Dec, 2020 @ 10:38am
Incredible quality of work! :cozyspaceengineersc: I suspected you were behind Lost Colony too. Now that i read these comments it all makes sense! I just finished Frostbite like minutes ago, enjoyed it just as much as Lost Colony. I'm terrible at creating stuff from scratch in this game, but i LOVE exploration and modifying things so i've been using Lost Colony as my never ending solo game. The roads in the valley are what was missing from all my previous gameplays, i now enjoy hauling all kinds of things between my landing platform and the Vaughn Brothers mine that i converted into my main base. Without roads it just isn't as satisfying.

Anyway thanks for your contribution to this game, i believe your work is what really made me stick to the game instead of losing interest after a while as i usually do. :steamhappy:
Sander 8 Dec, 2020 @ 8:16am
Thank you Smokki <3 Really appriciate it
Smokki  [author] 7 Dec, 2020 @ 11:09pm
@Sanderino There were some nice hints in this reddit post for making roads: https://www.reddit.com/r/spaceengineers/comments/dupljn/any_easy_way_to_make_voxel_roads/

I use the capsule with shape radius 3 and shape length 8, then I just remove small top layer of the ground, slowly going forward (either jetpack or spectator mode). Takes a lot of patience to get the roads right though.

Then I paint the road. Type of voxel depends on the location (soil works really well on grassy areas but not that well on desert) so you might want to test trough them to see which looks the best.

For Lost Colony I took some extra steps and used sphere with shape radius 1,5 to add a bit of grass into the middle of the road by just gently barely touching the soil with it (this takes often a lot of trial and error to get it right).
