The moons of Nirn are actually Lorkhan after the nine divines turned him into two moons after throwing his heart into the red mountain

the onlypart @paul is right about is that nirn is the planet but it is alsothe plane they are in and from there it is both planet and realm

@Paul (and other lore nerds like myself)
You need to remember that all of that knowledge is what the mages of tamriel currently know/understand. Perhaps nirn isn't the only planet; after all, I remember reading in the mystic archives, (of the arcane university), that nirn, like oblivion, is simply one of the many planes that exist, and people can travel between them through certain means (portals/gates/etc.).
I have a theory that these planes are different planets, and these gates work like the ones in mass effect, allowing people to travel millions of light years in a few seconds.
I can't recall the exact name of the book I read that made me think of this being the case, but if you like to read every in-game book like I do, you might be able to find it on uesp.net .

How friggen cool would it be if the future elder scrolls games allow the pc to travel into space??? That'd be friggen awesome! (And then we could find out if these oblivion planes really are other planets)

Paul that was way off... While I'm not sure about how it works there is a "sun" which is blantently stated in the dawnguard DLC, and Sovenguard is actually a part of atherius not a different realm but a realm within the realm of atheirus. But yes anyone who thinks Elder scrolls is based off earth and not on the planet Nirn needs to play Morrowind or something.

Elder scrolls takes place on a planet called Nirn which is surrounded by many moons. there are no other planets in elder scrolls Nirn is the only one.
there is no Sun or stars in elder scrolls. the lights you see in the sky are holes in the realm make by the Aedra( the beings the made everything. eight divines and such ) the only other realms in elder scrolls are the Deadric realms, sovenguard and aetherius (the place where the aedra originate)

Elder scrolls is not on earth
Its is not based on earth it is based on the lore and the previous games combined (morrowind and oblivion)

Iam now returning the my lore cave to seek more knoledge farewell.

They're the same moons.. just different textures
The Rogue Gamer 19 Apr, 2013 @ 11:04pm
I don't get how they can give Skyrim and Morrowind different moons since they are on the same planet...

Wow, what does any of that have to do with moons? Great Mod, Love the throwback and the mod in general!

There's no telling what the religion was called. They wrote in runes that are forgotten and are indicipherable from what we found. And the Nord Leif Eriksson "found" North America, not the Italian Columbus. Of course, the Native Americans were here first, Europeans had no right to take the Natives' lands. Europeans were selfish racists who thought that they were better in every way. If they were better, why did they not know to rotate the crops they planted, or to conserve nonrenewable rescourses? Or to take care of the land? Europe is a ecological disaster. But this is TES: V Skyrim, not the Earth. So why are we talking Vikings and such?

new2earth and TristanDolfin, the people of Skandinavia are called 'Norse,' the stuff they make are called 'Nordic.'
TristanDolfin 25 Apr, 2012 @ 3:47pm
New 2earth, I think you may be right.

Well I have to say that Skyrim is more Norway than Sweden, TristanDolfin. Swedish vikings went to Russia and further south, Norwegian and Danish vikings on the other hand went to Iceland, Greenland and Great Britain (York, Dublin, all founded by vikings). And because Denmark doesn't have mountains and fjords, this leaves Norway! With cold weather, lots of mountains, fjords, the ocean, and of course the norwegian norse-names. However, of course, Sweden and Norway was quite similar back in the days, when it comes to culture and such.

If it were based on the real world it wouldn't be the 3rd era and everyone still running around in a medival magic land where demons come out of portals, technology never has never had a single revolution, and there are 2 moons, not to mention the other dementions that daedra rule etc. It is based off of a realistic-like world. Culture has never just HAPPENED, history and nature repeat themselves. Any inhabitable world could be compared with Earth. The Elder Scrolls did a a good job, though, by creating a universe unique but predictable. Just like if you could live it! Have you noticed through every Elder scroll the constilations in the sky? It like looking at them here, but sort of backwards :) Noticed when I was like 12, so get it together and lets role play!
TristanDolfin 25 Mar, 2012 @ 10:19am
The entire Elder Scrolls series is based on the real world. Skyrim is a remake of Sweden. Morrowind is Greenland and Solstheim is Iceland. They are all real places with real ties to earth. The word "Nord" comes from the religion "Norse". Each of the gods in Skyrim are the same as the gods of the Norse. Nord, Viking, and Swedish are all names for the same people at diffrent times. The story of Morrowind and Solstheim is the same of when the Vikings invaded Icland then Greenland. Eventualy they were pushed back to Iceland (Solstheim).

I will never get this mod!You know why?'Cause I have a me gusta moon mod.
Spongebob19911 22 Mar, 2012 @ 9:58pm
No Skyrim is not on earth!.. It has its own universe! Think of magic and the different races etc..
I think the moons more realistic, if you played Morrowind. Moons doesn't change and these are the right ones :)
CARCRASHSFX 22 Mar, 2012 @ 4:07pm
skyrim is on earth right?
OreoOblivion 20 Mar, 2012 @ 12:27am
Masser is mars just turned to the side with its ice cap removed. You can tell that its mars by its distinct canyon.
Le Frenchman 18 Mar, 2012 @ 6:07pm
@SpaceCore Well, both are tecnically pictures of the Moon, but with different colors...the moons in Morrowind.
¤MBM¤ MegaHatena 18 Mar, 2012 @ 10:53am
Doesn't Masser look an awful lot like Mars? And Secunda kind of reminds me of Earth during
"Ice Age"
BuffaloTank 18 Mar, 2012 @ 10:52am
@inbasis there are moon cycles in the game.there were in oblivion as well. i never checked in morrowind.
Alertcriminal 18 Mar, 2012 @ 10:46am

Axelion 18 Mar, 2012 @ 10:04am
Nicely done, Morrowind still rocks!
Dovah 17 Mar, 2012 @ 9:28am

Elhnada 16 Mar, 2012 @ 8:54am
