@Jakewhistler That is the correct programmable block, and yes it controls the wheels, P will do nothing you will need to press the new icon on the toolbar to toggle them.

I tried that, no dice. The closest thing I have is "Programmable block 2 SGW" but the script looks like it runs the wheels. I followed you directions and using either that option on the toolbar or the P button does nothing.

Press G, right click Programmable Blocks SGW, click "Run". A window will pop up asking for an "argument", enter brake_toggle and click confirm, you should now have a new button on your toolbar to toggle the parking brake.

I have no idea, I don't know anything about scripts/scripting.

I took a look at the script and Whip states

Toggling Parking Brake
If your main ship controller has no wheels on its grid...
To toggle parking brake, you must use one of the following script arguments:
brake_toggle
brake_on
brake_off

Which also makes it sound like if you can add a wheel suspension to the main body of the grid that that might work?

I can confirm that P does not operate the parking brake. Space bar still seems to work as a hand brake though.

@Jakewhistler Glad you got it working, I had not had a chance to look at it. Yes scripts are required to be on in the world. The rotor on the toolbar is the lock to prevent it from turning if you do not want it to XD. Parking break should be P.

@Malacanth It took some doing, but I got the excavator working! It turns out scripts were not enabled on the scenario options. Turning that on helped, but to rotate the cab I have to turn off the rotor on the toolbar. I don't know if that's how it's supposed to work or not, but it works. Is there a way to turn on the parking brake?

@Malacanth Thanks, I appreciate it. :)

@Jakewhistler Scripts might be out of date in it, I will take a look at it and see what I can do.

I can't get this to move. I've installed the scripts you mentioned above, and I had to attach a battery to get the reactors to take uranium. How can I get this to move?

@kendall several ways, some times i put a rotor head and extend a rotor out on a piston and attach them, sometimes I place a rotor head on the subgrid from a rotor with no head and attach it, just takes some practice in figuring it out, the toughest part is getting the angles, displacements right so the build doesn't tear itself apart.
kendall 28 Oct, 2018 @ 12:49pm
Nice. How do you connect the pistons and rotors in that way?
