great to hear that it worked. the boss in that area is a bit tricky. like you said you can get stuck sometimes by the gates going up and down. be careful. I hope you enjoy the rest of the game. Thanks you so much for playing. I had a lot of fun working on this little mod.

Ok, got lucky. I had a saved game just before going down to this level. I flipped all the switches, then step on all the pressure plates. After that I went thru and flipped all the big levers one after another and the bridge was made and the gates all open. Saved again before flipping switch and going into the big room. The thing is here I killed both of the ogres but ended up in a corner. The big monster couldn't get at me but I was stuck in the corner with no way to kill it either. I will try again and see what I can do. Just a matter of a few tries I think. Going forward at least.

so i did look at the level in the editor. the six gates are hooked up properly. very frustrating since i want you to be able to enjoy the game. I assume you recently found this and subbed to it? it should have all the patches i did to ensure it is possible. there is a counter that controls the gates barring your path. after the counter hits 6 it opens all the gates. unfortunately if you have an old version of the mod and you update your game it will erase your save file. it is very annoying that the editor works that way. one thing you could try is pulling those levers a few more times. it might trick the game into opening the gates. they are set to all go up if that counter is activated. technically you could just pull any of the levers back and forth six times and i think that would solve the puzzle. Speedrun strats there i guess.

Yes, everything was done as you described. There is a bridge now over the fire but the way across is blocked by closed gates. There is no where to get out onto the bridge. Have I missed something? Just to the right of the last large lever alcove I can move one space towards the bridge but then blocked by a gate. It looks like there is a gate between each of the spans of the bridge.

ok so that is the level where you flip the switches to open doors to pressure plates that open the doors to levers to extend the bridge over the lava. Is the bridge over the fire not spawning when you pull the large levers in the alcoves just left of the fire pit? I did have several people help me work out all the bugs and we all playtested it through to the end.

Did all the pressure plates and flipped all the switches but can't figure out what to do next. I don't see where anything changed. No way into the fire section.

Am I missing something on level 8? There seems to be one plate that has no door that opens to it. Maybe a hidden switch some wheres? I thought I've searched all over. Also a gate that isn't open to the mid-north. Perhaps a switch just past the gate to open a door to the plate?

hello OZ. in the garden area you must find four orbs/items. those items are placed in the slots on the wall. there are two pairs to place. the notes refer to the first few letter of each item. placeing the forst set will open the forst set of doors and then placing the second set will open the boss gate. I hope that helps. the extra keys from the first level you can safely get rid of. they were ther to avoid a soft lock in the game. hope you enjoy the mod.

Hey letorve. sorry for the late reply. the last update was about three weeks ago.unfortunately the grimrock editor does not update Save data when i do a patch. so you do need to redo the gamewhen I do a patch. it is one of the bad parts of the editor. The only game breaking bug that there was in level 8 were two grates that were blocking the final switches. they were removed a while back so as long as you have a version from the last month or so you should be fine. the puzzle to go forward involves four keys then six levers that open six rooms with pressure plates. those plates open the doors to the large levers near the fire pit. pflipping those large levers extends the bridge to the boss room. that should get you through the level. there is a ton of searching in that level. I did a rebalance of the game with some fixes and item placements as well so i do recomend getting the latest version and playing through again.

niteblade hello, the combination works only with the 3 pieces of chitin armor that you find in the level. if you use those pieces of armor the door will open.unfortunately that secret sound is a bit bugged in places. I have not found a good work around yet for it.

I'm stuck in the macumai room aswell, i've tried to put a mask and any other helmet to the leftmost alcove, leather/plate cuirass in the middle one, and different pants, boots and gloves in the last one. I get the "secret" chime with any of the combination but the door in the middle won't budge :/

Hey ietorve the armor pieces must go into the alcove in a certain order from left to right. The clue Ma Cu Mai should help a bit. it stands for Mask, Cuiraise and Mail/armor. if you place them in that order the door will open for you.

11/02/18 Final version announcement!!!!!! yay the mod has been play tested and finished. i may add tweaks later on but this game is completed. you will need a mage in your party and i would suggest putting some points in accuracy stats. I hope you enjoy the game. it does have its challenging areas so beware the depths of shadows of madness.

Patch notes 10/29/18 Fixed issue in level 5 puzzle where player could get trapped in the puzzle without a way to escape. also fixed issue where teleporters stay active near chest where you get the eggs in level 5. You now need to throw the eggs at the pressure plates to get the puzzle to work. also removed some stone doors in level 2. they were ugly. remember if you have any issues completing the game . message me and I can make those patches. very close to a final build of this Mod. patch notes, last night 2 more rouge wall gates showed up in front of the levers in level 8. these walls have been dispatched with all their foulness and the level should now be clear for you all to play through. getting close to the final build on this one. thanks for your patience.

patch notes 10/7/18 Did a huge update today for the mod cleaning up ugly areas and changing a few things in the final levels. made final boss harder. made wizard prison more tricky to navigate. The game should now be playable from start to finish. message me if there are any issues or if you have a specific item you would like to see in the game. there is still room for treasure chests in the game. thank you for your support

patch notes- fixed mine level so that it is now able to be beaten. corrected a bug in level 9 boss battle that was not allowing final door to open and allow progression.

hey sir lukas. I had to do a patch on level 8 today. had some sort of bug going on that was not allowing that first door to open. You will need to eownload the new version and play through it again. sorry for the inconvenience.

yes sir lukas. 8 is playable. very complex puzzle full of Keys switches and floor triggers the point of the level is to create a bridge across an area of fire using the levers nearby but they are blocked by gates so you need to find a way to open those gates. the gates are opened by floor triggers in sealed rooms. those sealed rooms are opened by levers and to get to those levers you must find four keys to four key holes. your first step would be to find those locks and get keys for them. search very carefully through the level and good luck.

Patch 9/22/18 I have fixed most of the gates that have been shutting and blocking progress on their own. very wierd glitch. Added herbs into the game. blocked off water areas so that you can no longer fall into them.
