- Victorum adds a lot of provinces everywhere Portugal has a vestted interest, so greatly benefits Portugal, and the mission tree seems to work well, but I would suggest changing the Arguin modifiers and missions to not affect the Arguin province - which in the mod is just a strip of desert land - and instead benefit the province with the trading post below Arguin, which more nicely fits Portugal's "small african outposts for trade" experience; it also adds the Palacio da Pena to Lisbon to upgrade along the game and the Escola de Sagres wonder to Lagos (western half of Algarve), with a very cool buff.

Hey! Great mod, and I think all the suggestions on the previous comment are good, although I think focusing on a) and d) would be better for now (at least it is what appeals to me more).
There are two mods out there, Pax Solis and Victorum Universalis, which could greatly benefit the Portuguese experience this mod offers:
- Pax Solis hads a lot of provinces in Africa and China/Japan and works pretty well with this mod but the modified UI bugs the mission tree so that many new missions end up missing; it also adds two wonders to Lisbon that work really nicely too;

I hope you all enjoy the latest update and give the mod another try.

A quick poll what you would like to see most:

a) Great projects (requires Leviathan DLC) for Casa da India, Elmina, Goa, ... (also tell me which)
b) More conquest (claims and encouragement for map painting)
c) New game mechanics (naval maintenance is already under investigation)
d) Integrated Government and reforms (currently I recmmend to use Governments Expanded)

I appreciate all subscriptions and answers!

Thank you very much Excel and by the way have you ever thought of adding claims in the Aden region, the Suez and then perhaps Jerusalem? It would be interesting as it was one of the attempted expansion paths of Portugal it sadly didnt work.....haha

After a long time (mostly used complaining about the content of Golden Century DLC), I decided to go ahead, buy the thing and port may changes to the GC mod tree, hopefully making your GC purchase a better bang-for-the-buck enjoying a brand new Portugal playthrough.

The status is "beta" as I only had one test run (with idea variation & expanded trade goods, ages, lavour and monuments).

Please let me know if you encounter any bugs and I'll try to make everything work.

Open the mod file you wish with some text editor, such as Notepad (you might need to right-click and use Open with...).

Where it reads

supported_version="1.29.*"

replace the version in quotes by whatever you want (ex.: 1.30.*).

I just tried it out and worked fine for me, hope it patches your games up until there's an official update. :)

Is the mod being updated for 1.30? I tried booting it up for 1.29.6 and it seems to have some imcompatibility.

I've got a warning that says "Something looks wrong with the downloaded files. Please contact the author of this mod." When I try to enable the mod, this warning prevents me from activating it. Any advice? Thanks for creating this by the way!

So quick bug update: Having Golden Century active seems to give the player both the Golden Century mission tree and your mission tree.

@Excel Foley, balance is balance. Being OP just makes the game easy and boring. More balance would make the end result of a Portuguese Mercantile/Colonial Empire feel more rewarding and the player more proud.
This is basically hard-coded cheats.
I did not talk about min-maxing or MP.

I'm looking forward to PDXs next moves with this DLC and EUIV as a whole with it's currently broken mechanics. If there will be meaningful changes to the game I won't mind spending 10 bucks every now and than for good additional content. The mod will then be updated again (not at last for my own interest roleplaying Portugal again).

There were some concerns that the mod in the current state is unbalanced and makes Portugal "OP". A few thoughts of mine: I agree that if you are optimizing/abusing/minmaxing the given bonuses this is indeed the case (tried this with PDX Great Britain, Ming or Mughal lately? :D). But this mod is intendend to enable a flavourful roleplay Portugal experience rather than balancing a MP match. This effect is sadly intensified by the new (Dharma-DLC) Trade Company mechanics which will always result in a very broken experience for all nations (rush for Trade Company -> ignore state limit while drowning in money and even get bonuses to everything). Don't get me wrong, I'm more than willing to change all aspects of the mod if there is specific critic for some aspects, but keep in mind that my main idea is to enable a rich Portuguese oversea empire without great expansion on the European continent or conquering all of africa.

Quick Update: I didn't buy Golden Century over Christmas, because I'm very disappointed by PDX new "DLC strategy". Since their official opinion is "... that reviews weigh ounces while sales weigh pounds." (Dev-Diary 18.12.2018) I want to get another pound on the scale. I'm quite frankly surprised that PDX doesn't seem to notice that a fair share of customers did buy the last DLCs to support the company (regardless of doubts over pricing to content ratio) with the hope that there would be improvements in quality, quantity and balancing in future projects (due to the feedback over various channels).

I tested the current state of the mod briefly with the (no Golden Century DLC) 1.28 version of the game and there were no obvious issues present. Maybe someone has done some in depth testing and can give some feedback or point out some bugs? The PDX Portugal mission tree should be overwritten in the DLC version I guess?! So if one really wants to use this mod it should be fine.

@Jvoss123v: The most recent version was provided to the Missions Expanded mod and should be integrated. I didn't test it myself though. May you can give us some insights.
@SergeantAtom: At the moment I do not have the new DLC and didn't look into the changes PDX made. Since the vanilla mission tree was reworked it could be some work to make everything smooth again. Maybe a project for Christmas days.

And having mission that give you penalties is a bad idea, missions are supposed to be an incentive to achieve some goal, by having penalties on them they become more like "decisions" and that is a problem because it railroads the player with severe buffs in some aspects (trade mostly) and severe nerfs on others (tax mostly) and the player might not want to follow that particular path.
