Sadly my son Alex TD @uuugggg died June 2025. Can anyone tell me if I could/should report this to someone? And I know he made a lot of mods that people used and seemed to depend on. It's sort of dealt with in the settings

Normally the trade cap is when selling price matches buying price. This mod lets you break that and sell for higher than you'd buy. Which is exactly what *they* to do *you* when they're selling to you, so it's only fair. Trusting, of course, that you don't repeat buy/sell because if you're gonna cheat you can just pawn silver.

The description doesn't mention it, but does this mod also make it so the trade improvement sell price is uncapped?

That's the opposite of what this does

This makes YOUR caravans sell to OTHER factions better.

You're describing OTHER factions selling to YOU.

That's the point of being a merchant caravan - you get the better deal for putting in the effort to go to a buyer.

Does this only apply to caravans on the world map? Would it be possible to make this work for caravans on the main map and orbital traders as well?

yeah sorry im sorting alot of mod stuff right now to get my performance in the game going so I just asked before installing and then checking trough settings. Mod managment is such a unthankful job in this game. Thanks for the response tho!. Woudl be nice to see something like adjustment for leader price improvment, as thats also a tiny, merly noticable boost of 2$.

Doh. Big rewrite shouldn't have been a problem. This the only of my mods that had that problem. Editing defs at loadtime is dangerous.

The author has been offline for a long time. I think we should update the mods on our own since the source code is on Github. Worst case we will just have to remove the updated mods if Uuugggg requests so. I wish I know which parts of the coude need to be changed to make the mod compatible with 1.3

Because many people think it's somehow less cheesy and fun-breaking to use an exploit than to use a cheat. Exploits in some of the old games are almost as well known and popular nowadays as those same old games themselves. Take a look at how SaGa Frontier 2 got republished for example. And who never repeatedly stole money form a SanFranciso merchant to buy a PA set so that they could enter the enclave base at low level?

And AngleWyrm is right, the price difference is there to slow down the colony's climb to Rockefelerhood.

But this mod is still the right idea, IMHO.
For one thing – there needs to be a tangible reason to form those caravans.
And for another – getting-rich-fast schemes are more likely to kill you than to make you OP (unless you're using a time-based threat mod or something like that to untie your balance from colony wealth).

This mod actually makes forming trade caravans useful and interesting besides just more realistic as well. Hope for a 1.3 is there.

@AngleWyrm nah, it exists in real life, especially once transport is involved. Back before we had the logistics that we have today, there were goods that you could buy, transport a long distance, and then sell for many times what you bought them for.

So it makes sense that merchants that took the time and risk to visit your village want a premium for their goods, but it doesn't make sense that if you take the time and risk to visit them, you're still the one paying the premium.

The difference between buy price and sell price is a hack, invented to delay the inevitable explosion of currency into meaninglessness -- a direct result of loot drop mechanics.
