great mod, thank you making!
blackknight24 29 Jul, 2024 @ 9:42am
LOL, you're trying to fix problems that don't exist. It's a good way to fool others into thinking you're helpful. For that, good on ya!
PaperFox  [author] 28 Jul, 2024 @ 12:52pm
@blackknight24,
this is a User Experience mod.
you want a cheat mod, and this is not the intent.

both closets will save you tedious waste of click time, and reduce the performance problems the game has later when you have a large tower with many buildings.

if you want a cheat mod, the stats are easy to modify in the mods folder.
blackknight24 29 May, 2024 @ 2:46pm
use to be a great mod, but now pointless... saves no money or floor space... USELESS
Siberi Rahaboss 11 Jan, 2024 @ 6:38am
Fantastic mod.

牛逼!
PaperFox  [author] 26 Apr, 2023 @ 1:30pm
you need to enable it in the menu when you start a new tower.
new mods can't be enabled in an existing game.
after that, it is in the asterisk "star" menu button on the bottom left, where decorations are, because all mods are treated that way.
kdh2980127 23 Apr, 2023 @ 9:21am
I subscribed this asset but I can't find in mod please help me
Ex_Machina 8 Feb, 2023 @ 7:06am
This is a great mod, thank you so much!

Bumping this tip for anyone just downloading: (from another comment)

Cant find the new closet? Check the star menu, like custom decorations!

The custom rooms "star" menu button is right of the Bulldoze button, under the Utilities menu button.

cool
PaperFox  [author] 18 Feb, 2022 @ 2:53pm
you have to enable the mod from the main menu first.
all mod structures are in the menu on the bottom left that is a large asterisk *
昊阑llan 17 Feb, 2022 @ 11:13am
where can I build it????
PaperFox  [author] 30 Oct, 2021 @ 10:07pm
@Teknomage01
trash and recycling cannot be combined, unfortunately.
if i remember right, there's no way to combine either with broomcloset, but either could be combined with utilities.
i chose to combine with broomcloset because there needs to be at least one on every floor anyways, but trash and recycling don't.
Teknomage01 22 Oct, 2021 @ 11:42am
Thank you! I was gonna see if I could put all utilities into one box along with trash, recyc and cleaning.
PaperFox  [author] 21 Oct, 2021 @ 2:14pm
@Teknomage01 Yes, that is what this does. Some things cannot be combined, like restrooms for students.
Decoration mods are easy for this game.
Functional mods are very hard because they used a "functional programming language" ;-P
Teknomage01 20 Oct, 2021 @ 6:38pm
Would it be possible to make a mod that combines many other utilities and services together in one space? I've never made a mod before.
Demonianism 28 Sep, 2021 @ 7:54am
For some reason the mod only allows for two closets per custodial room not three.
Dragonberry Deut 17 Aug, 2021 @ 7:51pm
It's absolutely wonderful! It looks great, too!

Thanks for your work & time!

You could distribute more of your work here:

PaperFox  [author] 13 Jan, 2021 @ 7:30am
That's normal.
All items from mods are under the *asterisk.

I've edited the game's main files to add new icons (for my fancy escalators), but there's no way to distribute that through Steam.
Same thing with new levels, workers, visitors, layouts, etc.
I've made those in my own game files, but can't distribute as mods.

There's a fun Bunker level I was putting together, but there's no way to distribute it.
Lord_TCG 11 Jan, 2021 @ 1:21pm
Not sure if it's an issue at my end or yours (first mod I'm using for this game), but I don't have any image/thumbnail for the mod when attempting to place an item? Just a large * symbol... Nothing game breaking but thought I'd mention it :)
Turkey Bacon Bravo 12 Sep, 2020 @ 10:18pm
@PaperFox : Bloody brilliant mod. Fantastic work bruv, sending you my love and salute for the amazing creation. Cheers mate.
PaperFox  [author] 22 Jul, 2020 @ 4:06pm
Thank you, WEEB.
reviews like that keep me creating.
Memolio 3 Jul, 2020 @ 6:18pm
Thanks a lot! I stopped playing this game because it was a nightmare to have neat buildings without spending hours upon hours on planning. This is what I needed.
PaperFox  [author] 2 Apr, 2020 @ 1:47pm
@ashlandt
User experience.

1) On very large towers the game suffers when there are too many objects. This helps.
2) Quicker floor building. It makes the game less tedious when expanding many floors.
3) Your mouse button will live longer with the fewer clicks, if you play as much as I did two years ago.

This especially helps on large towers with offices and a mall.
Go into sandbox and build a 100 floor tower for offices+restaurants+shopping and you'll know why to use this.
I release game balanced mods.
Cheat mods are all over, and easy to make.
The point of my mods is to improve user experience for everyone.
If the cost is an issue for you, there are plenty of free-money mods, and sandbox has that option.
ashlandt 1 Apr, 2020 @ 7:59pm
What's the point if footprint & cost are the same??
Roccaleta 13 Feb, 2020 @ 10:50am
Thanks! :steamhappy:
PaperFox  [author] 12 Feb, 2020 @ 4:45pm
Reuploaded.
Both show up in the star menu, like custom decorations do.

The custom rooms "star" menu button is right of the Bulldoze button, under the Utilities menu button.
Roccaleta 12 Feb, 2020 @ 12:21pm
I couldnt find the mod. Would love to use it
City Builder 22 Jan, 2020 @ 5:53am
nope desnt work for me
blackknight24 30 Dec, 2019 @ 11:45pm
worked fine for me...
PaperFox  [author] 28 Dec, 2019 @ 11:26am
that sounds like i messed up my last update. i'll take a look and re-upload.
projectamberly 7 Nov, 2019 @ 8:06pm
I can't even find it. I don't even have any DLC installed. The only one I can find is called "Skyscraper Core" which includes the same utility closet, but with a premium elevator. Where is the one without the premium elevator.
PaperFox  [author] 4 Nov, 2019 @ 2:53pm
I meant to make the upkeep higher, but constant for all floors, making it more attractive for large towers.

I try to keep my mods balanced, pros & cons. There is a smaller more cheaty version elsewhere.

The whole idea was to be more efficient, so I'll take a look and maybe post an update.
blackknight24 3 Nov, 2019 @ 11:54pm
decent mod, although it doesn't really save tile space, and it's actually more expensive to use than the vanilla pieces...so maybe with some adjustments it could be considered a great mod! It is convenient to have them clustered in different combos, but if you like to play efficiently, these are not the way to go! Seems like ya just copy and pasted somethings together then jacked up the upkeep...! 6/10
PaperFox  [author] 1 Nov, 2019 @ 6:12pm
I'd love to make some custom scenarios, been thinking about it for a while.
But yes, it would require an installer.
DeviousKiwi 24 Sep, 2019 @ 9:53pm
Thanks for this. I'd be super keen for custom scenarios, even if it requires an installer.
PaperFox  [author] 29 May, 2019 @ 7:57am
Well, I spent the time to make a combined student communal bathroom... only to discover that the student dorms point specifically to the bathroom entity and can't recognize anything else.

Since there is an elevator mod with combined utilities, there's not much reason to combine with anything else (e.g. housekeeping).

But if anyone wants combo housekeeping, get a couple votes for it here and i'll do it.
Big B 12 May, 2019 @ 11:45am
Beautiful words @PaperFox ! Hope you are still working around !!!!!! Cheers
PaperFox  [author] 28 Jan, 2019 @ 11:16am
I have more ambitious plans for a "free DLC", with scenarios and more tower floorplans.
It will require an installer.
Modding games is more fun for me than playing them; making things is more fun than having things.
Project Highrise keeps getting my time & attention because the developers made the data files plaintext and easy to edit.
That's really the only reason I bought all the DLC.
Modability makes it worthwhile.
If I can make content that brings people back to playing this, that's time well spent.
Connman 27 Jan, 2019 @ 6:17pm
I have had this mod for like ever and I haven't even played Highrise in like 8 months! Well, I never got a chance to play this mod cause' I couldn't find it in the mod. Just amazing you still keep this mod upto date, though.
PaperFox  [author] 27 Jan, 2019 @ 9:54am
Sure, go for it!
The Paint.NET file with the different layers should be in the archive.

Also check out my Skyscraper Core mod. It has a single door with all utilities on it. Should be easy to adapt that for what you want.
kamyk 26 Jan, 2019 @ 7:36pm
My main annoyance with the game is always having one less tile that I could really use to make everything fit nicely.

Do you mind if I use your template (definition file) as a base to create my own version that is a single 1x1 closet with all utilities in it that costs 200? I intend to do my own pngs so it fits the size.

I mean obviously any definitions file is going to look similar, but it would be much easier to remove or change sections of yours than to start one over from scratch.
PaperFox  [author] 26 Jan, 2019 @ 4:06pm
@kamyk
Saving a click is most of the point.
Tedious tasks in this game push me away from it, even though I like the game.
This helps with that, while maintaining the developers' intended game balance.
Also, game performance, since the game can suffer when towers have many objects. But that's minor.
kamyk 24 Jan, 2019 @ 11:12pm
If I am understanding correctly, and this has the footprint of both utility closets side by side, and costs as much as building both, then what's the point other than saving a click? How about one that is half the footprint (the size of one closet) for twice the cost (costs as much as both closets x2)?
PaperFox  [author] 25 Dec, 2018 @ 10:11am
Custodian Broom Closet w/utilities done, just in time to do cleaning after the holidays.

Merry Christmas!
PaperFox  [author] 23 Nov, 2018 @ 9:51pm
Adding utilities to any of trash, recycle, and (probably) housekeeping can work, but combining those three cannot with how Highrise does them.
Spart0n 23 Nov, 2018 @ 10:43am
hows the combo janitors closet, trash recyling coming?
