To be honest archers in this game are weak because armor is OP in this game, and archer unit size is small, yet they take as much food as an infantry unit that doubles them in number.

One of the best mods. I wish this mod was also available for other Total War titles. This mod increases the value of the skirmishers in the battles immensely.

I love it. I feel like how quickly ranged units burn through ammo is a good trade-off for how powerful they are. I like how I have to be very picky and strategic with my archers, rather than letting them be mostly static dps sticks. If you're not careful, those OP archers will be useless in no time.

@harry yeah, though I do think sieging should be difficult personally. It would be good to balance it further somehow. Unfortunately I never got the mod tools working again and have moved onto modding Paradox games for now

Like the idea of this mod however to keep the stamina and accuracy against moving targets
I would suggest halving damage, and doubling fire rate and ammunition
The reasoning of it being "tiring" I don't agree with, I do a archery and im way less trained than a longbow archer bakc then but the hardest part about shooting ive found no matter how fast or often i draw a bow is accuracy, never actually pulling it, swinging a sword is much harder haha

What about an decrease in stamina for a trade off (going from fresh to exhausted quicker), or does that not reduce performance of ranged units? just saying pulling back a longbow over and over could be quite tiring.

I really have the same problem with a lot of animations in total war. Idleing in the battlefield makes no sense. I wish they balanced things in other ways.

I used PFM. Check TWCenter, Dresden, Magnar and myself (Rewinged on the forums) decoded all the edited and new tables and made a schema file. Just gotta drop it in your PFM folder and it should work fine. You won't be able to select ToB yet as a game, just use ATW or whatever, still works fine.

This actually makes archers feel a little more impactful than before. I have been playing exclusively on VH and I felt like archers never made a difference. I like it

I try to add this to my game last evening but it was a fail : it showed like outdated and I was unable to make it work even with the right case enabling outdated mod.

Also gave a tiny bit more ammo to ranged units (2 for archers, 1 for javs)

Tweaked all the other missile units such as crossbows and javs. They will all fire faster now (not to the extent of the change to archers but still quite considerable)

AbatedFawn, not too sure, think it's just for one of the subcultures. Should be able to mod them in, though I have heard from Radious that some unit modding requires the Assembly Kit now. I'll give it a shot later once I've done a couple other things. I'm just hopign the Assembly Kit will come soon... like within the next couple days haha. Most my mod ideas require it.

Okay, so crossbow needs to be sped up somewhat too? Haven't actually used them in-game yet so wasn't sure what to do for them. The number I'm tweaking is literally just the time between playing the loading animation that they will fire, so if crossbows already have a long reload animation I might be able to just get rid of the time like I did for elite archers

yep sure. crossbow and javelin need also some tweaks. Crossbow should have 50 to 60% the archers rating fire (closer to reality). don't know yet about javelins

grekko, thanks and I'm glad someone agrees. I'll do as you suggest and make a couple of variants. I don't have a lot of time to play the game so I can only do limited testing so it would be a huge help to get some outside feedback

I do aggree with you. Total war shooters are too slow. I like the shooting rate of this mod. Archers were used to "burst" ennemies before melee fight (history of France vs England). In some french books we have records of english archers shooting every 2-3 seconds to highly damage the ennemi charge.

I do believe that CA should bring this new mechanic in the game (manual shooting rate) in order to make archers & co a much strategic tool and let the player decide which one use. removing a few accuracy points for this should be a good deal.

Can you please make more mods with all combinations ? this way we can see what like.
