Excellent map with a nice variety of elements, logical and fun.
SeaprincessHNB 10 Aug, 2014 @ 4:05pm
Simple puzzles but entertaining. The environment is just gorgeous.

Nice level. I was out of practice and the last part with the laser took me a while.

Not a difficult one but you said it. I like the style. Looks great. As with your older maps, It was mostly a warm up for things to come. I did enjoy playing and I struggled a little on the relection gel. I have just one issue. This was the last map in your workshop. I know you have something in the works. Send it on soon. Thank you and I'll see ya round the workshop.

Nice layout, but some of the puzzles were a bit underwhelming. I thought maybe the simple puzzles were a buildup to a final room that incorporated all the elements, but that wasn't the case. The maze looked ominous, but ended up being a simple box fetch (why include sentries ?). Still, there's great promise in this layout, and I think your later maps have improved in difficulty. I look forward to seeing more from you.

I gotta say this map left me with a sweet taste in my mouth, also gotta give you mad props for introducing a new mechanic to the gels with the "Reflection gel" definetely going to look at your other test chambers :)

Great map!! But the energy balls appear as a purple-black checkered 2-D square. But this was great!! I loved it!! :D
codewing 24 May, 2013 @ 2:11am
cool map but a bit too easy. good idea with the labyrinth :)
Cogitation 7 May, 2013 @ 12:29pm
Very good map. There is an issue.

The Aerial Faith Gel that throws the player to catch the ball CAN throw the player high enough to bump into the ball dispenser, and stop the player's forward momentum. The player then becomes trapped, bouncing straight up-and-down under the dispenser.
Johannes-im-Dampf 4 May, 2013 @ 8:02am
Nice but al little bit too straight forward

Nicely done maps and described very well in the "Description" section. It's not very often that reflec gel appears as a test element.

For some reason, mine simply loads the menu withouty menubuttons. Reinstall didn't work.

How do you do it like that?
Cyborg 14 Apr, 2013 @ 12:11am
Nice job :) Congrats. You really nailed it this time :)
Check out my collection named Toxic tales. You'll like it :)

The theme and the puzzle is great. The initial rooms was easy but the last one was challenging, I liked it. Thank's a lot for this map.
Zetha 13 Apr, 2013 @ 11:07pm
Good fun
Shinebox 13 Apr, 2013 @ 9:21pm

The only word I can say is: Awesome !
7EDDY 13 Apr, 2013 @ 1:15am
Good concept, but puzzle is too easy
Dr. Worm 12 Apr, 2013 @ 9:24pm
I'll be sure to check your new map when it's done, and by all means you can do more in Hammer than I can. My only aesthetic problem is that enclosed areas don't really work well with the old Aperture style.
SqueeBat 12 Apr, 2013 @ 9:03pm
This test was pretty good. I liked the constant changing platforms quite a bit. Some of the rooms and spaces were a bit large with no need to be. Just keep space in mind in the future while map making. My only big fuss, is that the energy pellet was just showing up as a purple checkerboard. Those seem to be a big issue in a lot of maps that try and use them.
Spectro  [author] 12 Apr, 2013 @ 7:52pm
Look at the last picture for the "correct" solution to the last test.
Spectro  [author] 12 Apr, 2013 @ 7:26pm
This test is basically a demo for my future tests. I agree that is "stupid easy". The test I am working on right now is acually quite difficult, so be prepared. The only purpose of this test was to let users have a little fun with old style test elements without the worry of extreme difficulty. I have taken all your feedback into consideration. I am sorry for deleting your comment, it is just I was kind of frustrated at the time. No hard feelings (no pun intended).
Dr. Worm 12 Apr, 2013 @ 6:09pm
I agree with freaky, for the most part (I think timing/reflex sections are fine when done right). Thing is, this map isn't just easy, it's stupid easy - straightforward portal placement, a maze that actually devolves into a hallway, and a couple sections taken straight out of the Portal 1 and Portal 2 campaigns (hell, the energy pellet puzzle is somehow *easier* here because of the limited portal placement). And Bayram, mazes are bad no matter how small or simple they are.
🍪 Anna 12 Apr, 2013 @ 4:42pm
somejew; I do listen; don't worry.

I took the time to play through the map again and adress the issues I had with it. I hope it's helpful to watch: http://youtu.be/4IJepDBff2A

pcamill 12 Apr, 2013 @ 4:01pm
A fun, enjoyable set of puzzles!
Bayram 12 Apr, 2013 @ 2:27pm
Very easy, but decent fun, thumbs up! To "Lpfreaky90" : I agree in general about mazes, but this was a small, simple maze and the trigger to drop the cube and activate the fizzlers made it fit in. I did not find any missing indicators. The lighting was sufficient where it counted. I grabbed the sphere on the first try; your timing and reflexes must not be very good. I did not find any of the rooms to be too big. I agree with all your comments, but I would not apply them to this chamber. I can show you far worse examples of each defect. I hope you are OK with this.
Shadowsofink 12 Apr, 2013 @ 1:40pm
Excellent map! Maze like and clever, I loved it.

Lpfreaky90: Listen. Your last comment was just mean and sarcastic, so I removed it. This is my test, so I can decide what represents it. I have responded to you, as I would like to resolve this. I have looked at your tests and I see that you can use hammer. I can also use hammer. I just have never posted a hammer test, as I lack the time. You critisized me on taking two weeks; I am a student with a lot of work, so making time for test building was a sacrifice. You also critisized it on being too easy; did you read the description? You can give constructive feedback without the negativity.
🍪 Anna 11 Apr, 2013 @ 11:10pm
Seriously? My comment got removed? Why because I wasn't enthousiastic?

There are a bunch of things I hate in PTI maps:
* Mazes
* Lack of indicators
* Bad lighting
* Mid air grabbing
* Rooms that are too big

Your map scores 3/5 on my annoyance list and the map is obviously made with the stylechanger seeing the exterior and the general layout. And you remove my comment?

Let me tell you why I hate the five points:
- Mazes are simple but frustrating. Just stick to one side and you'll always find the exit
- You want to see what does what. Else it becomes a guessing game.
- You want to be able to see where you can shoot portals and where not and element should be visible.
- It's a puzzle game, not a timing/reflexes game.
- You want puzzles to be compact, but not too cramped. Spending too much time on walking is annoying.

I really see no reason why you should remove this comment since it has valid feedback...

Fantastic work! Great use of the Old Aperture set pieces. I did notice one problem: if you accidentally miss one of the elevators they will not come back down and you are stuck. This can be easy as they activate quickly when one foot is on them an you can slip off. I had this happen once.

The reflection gel is awesome I'd love to know how that was done.
Gu 11 Apr, 2013 @ 6:04pm
Yeah somejew! tell us how did you make this reflection gel! PLZ
jaime beilter 11 Apr, 2013 @ 5:55pm
Adhesion Gel! Why do I think this is a good idea for a test chamber? Well I thought it was a good idea due to the fact that the test creator added reflection gel, I think it's a good idea. You don't have to do it if you can't/don't want to.
Spectro  [author] 11 Apr, 2013 @ 4:41pm
I am making another test right now with an old style theme. Just need to think of a few more test ideas.
Manu 11 Apr, 2013 @ 3:02pm
Great map, i have never seen the erased reflection gel in the game. Please tell us how did you make this beautiful map!
Gu 11 Apr, 2013 @ 11:26am
hey somejew, tell me, how you made a map like this? I mean, other than the normal test chambers that the game offers? is some texture to the game? and that gel? as you did? please I really really want to know..
Gu 11 Apr, 2013 @ 11:14am
somejew: Hey buddy, tomorrow i'll post the trailer for this map on youtube. Is getting awesome, really. =)
