The laser OR-Gate or whatever it is to lower & elevate the platform is definitely too confusing.
Both the puzzles downstairs (laser/fizzler and light bridge) are nice.
Altogether, the chamber is too hard to oversee.
As usual, at least a bit annoying because of the turrets and the usual "look for the effect" missions :-(

thanks aardvark64 for getting back to me, i was able to finish. i didnt see that when you hit the laser button it flipped a portal panel near the ceiling. great chamber loved it.
jandlml 28 Aug, 2015 @ 6:34pm
thats ok,i will try and play again to see if i can make it through.i will let you know if i have the same problem.how do i know which version i am playing?
Aardvark00  [author] 26 Aug, 2015 @ 4:28am
@jandlml : Sorry for the delay replying, perhaps you've solved it by now? I've been playing co-op Portal lately and I soon found that this steam account would no longer connect to my partner properly so I opened a new account which worked again. Consequently this account has been lying idle. I just happened to check if it still worked and found your comment.
Let me know if you still need help and which version (original or beemod).

i dont know if you are still around aardvark. but i played this chamber thought i got all the way to the end when i realized i needed a cube . then i saw across the way the laser button that needed to be hit to drop the cube.I cant seem to find a way to accomplish it. i went on tonicas playthru but it was a different version. any hints would be appreciated thanks

Thank you for trying this. Actually I will be publishing a BeeMod version of this one with an added section and also The Central Cavern later today.

Сначала растерялся куда идти, но решение нашлось быстро. Дальше было легче.
Хороший тест. =)

First, a loss where to go, but the solution was found quickly. Then it was easier.
A good test. =)

Une petite carte bien sympatique est agréable à jouer. J ai eu du mal avec le dernier ascenseur, avec une seconde de plus ce serait peut-être mieux à mon avis !

Very nice update! It's wierd how there's less portal tiles aournd the stairs and much more glass then there was grating....hehehe. And since you moved this tile , I have to use the cube on the button next to the orange beam to get out. Well done!
Aardvark00  [author] 16 Mar, 2013 @ 7:01am
New updates done, lessons learned (franken cube bug). Please do your best to break it :)
daloboy 15 Mar, 2013 @ 2:55pm
And I'll be there to re-test gladly!
Aardvark00  [author] 15 Mar, 2013 @ 10:21am
daloboy. That is a bad mistake, I will have to update. Again :)
daloboy 15 Mar, 2013 @ 5:04am
For the cubes: when I get to the top of the glass/stair room, I portal the floor, just where I Ieft the first cube, and another portal in the wall of the main room through the grating.
Aardvark00  [author] 15 Mar, 2013 @ 1:44am
daloboy. Laserfield. Of course! I never thought of that :( I must deliberate.
Cubes. But how did you get them out of the glass room with staircase so that you could place them on the main floor outside and raise the lift? There are permanent fizzlers on both doors. ???
daloboy 14 Mar, 2013 @ 8:20am
For the laser field: when I saw the cube responsible for it's activation, I just pressed the pedestal three or four times, so the cube reaches the tractor beam emitter, giving me enough time to reach and pass the field. As for the reflector cubes, since my two portals remain active after I'm up the lift, I portal the floor to go get them. Always fun to test your maps!
Aardvark00  [author] 14 Mar, 2013 @ 8:02am
daloboy.
daloboy 13 Mar, 2013 @ 9:55pm
Really nice one! Took me ages to figure out the laser room! I did not use the franken nor this laser catcher . Here is how I made the lift go up. And this is how I got rid of the first turret and the final snapshot . Good work!

I know what you mean.
it is unfortunate that in a game called portal,
that leaving portable areas, leads to so many exploits.
& that you have to use so many lights, some times, to compensate.
with the dreaded item limit getting closer & closer.
your welcome for the feedback.
glad it has helped :)
live long & portal.
Aardvark00  [author] 7 Mar, 2013 @ 8:51am
mood3rd. No, that area was only left white because I wrongly thought it couldn't lead to any exploits and would help to cheer the place up a bit. All black is a bit depressing if it's not actually necessary, in my view anyway :) I did change that floor area to black as soon as I saw your video! Thanks for the commentary mood. Portal long and prosper.

:)
I know how you feel.
toncica has sent me video's of playing my maps, start to finish.
& he has brocken every one, with unintended sollutions.
but I have found it very educational.
then spent a lot of time, updating them.
without his video's, I would have been oblivious to the exploits.
so hopefully my maps are better for it.
thank's to toncica.
so don't give up.
you have control of your maps.
is the portable floor really needed, between the button & the turret ?
or you could find some other sollution, to make it unaccessible.
for a while.
good luck / skill.
remember, it's for science :)

mood3rd. Ok, hands up I surrender :-D

I see you have updated this map.
to stop players grabing or killing the 1st turret.
opps :)

Aardvark00  [author] 4 Mar, 2013 @ 1:19am
mood3rd. Thanks for getting back to me. I'll adjust things a bit to allow the white tile to be seen when you're up there but out of portal range from below. It won't be possible to leave a usable portal in it because of the fizzlers to exit the room below. I think....
I have deleted your spoiler as suggested. Your method was exactly correct. Thanks.
toncica. I'd like to keep it in for a bit of fun and possible confusion. If it's not taken to the exit there is an escape route to recover it.
toncica 3 Mar, 2013 @ 1:19pm
I would argue the franken cube is almost useless. Sure you need it because there's a cube button at the end to open the exit door , but puzzle wise it doesn't really add to the rest of the chamber. Maybe have another puzzle around it or trim out the fat and let it go.
mood3rd 3 Mar, 2013 @ 11:08am
Aardvark64
I would not move the franken cube nearer.
as you say, it's not needed till the end.
so may cause confusion, if closer.
I would make the solution to geting it, made clear from where you bring the 2nd reflector cube.
even if the execution can not be done from there.
& even if the solution is a puzzle to get it.
depends on your how close to the item limit you are, what you can do ?
hope this helps.

stormsend. See my reply to mood3rd, I haven't updated yet. About the lift, the timing should be too fast for everyone. I hope you still have a quicksave there because there is an easy answer to that problem.......
stormsend 3 Mar, 2013 @ 2:30am
Just replayed. I had two minor problems. One you know of already, the flip panel. Never did figure it out but thought I'd play on even knowing I couldn't open the exit when I got there. problem two. It's probably just me but I couldn't get the lift to work. I could raise and lower it but I was always a split second late. The timing is just a bit too fast for me. Obviously it was ok for mood so it's probably just my reflexes. Still a great map. You might think about that flip panel though.
Aardvark00  [author] 3 Mar, 2013 @ 1:16am
mood3rd. Thanks for testing again, glutton for punishment :)
I took the opportunity to complicate the franken bit because I thought it was diappointingly simple, but I agree that it's now too obscure. I looked at adding an antline which does draw attention to the flip panel but it's still a difficult shot under pressure. Do you think I should also move it nearer before updating? Bearing in mind that this cube is not helpful at the start. Also added a comment on your screenshot ;)

Aardvark64
just re-tested:
all good, exept getting the franken cube.
in the end, I used noclip to activate each button
& dash back to franken cube, to spot what happens.
then I pressed the correct button & noticed what happens,
from the franken cube area.
then I went back to not using noclip, with quickload & finished this map.
http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=130453152
the flip panel, I had trouble seeing, even when I knew where it was.
so I recommend another update, as I fear most people will not finish this map,
due to this.
this would be a shame.
as apart from getting the franken cube.
it is a good map.
hope this helps.
Aardvark00  [author] 2 Mar, 2013 @ 6:39am
Updates done. Plays a bit different now. Hope I got them all :-D
Thanks Stormsend I'll add you to my queue now.
stormsend 2 Mar, 2013 @ 5:27am
Very tough but a lot of fun. Kept trying to solve the laser thing in the first chamber. Finally went on and found the way later. Light bridge was a good one. Thankfully I'd seen the fizzler with two buttons before so no problem with that. Overall, a well made map with great puzzles. Thumbs up. My latest
Aardvark00  [author] 2 Mar, 2013 @ 2:37am
mood3rd.toncica. Many thanks for testing guys. The video was fascinating and guess what, exploits, exploits! Update required :) It's amazing what I failed to see coming, simple stuff like leaving all those white tiles opposite the laser catcher near the lift. Doh! And as for portal bumping...
toncica 1 Mar, 2013 @ 6:41pm
First of all, good to see another map so soon after your last one. Second, it was a brilliant idea to play it late at night when I should rather think about getting some sleep, or was it? ;)
Seriously, that was quite some work to get through. In the end I'm happy I made it without aborting the run. How the platform at the end works exactly escapes me. Maybe I figure that out another time. It certainly was a challenge.
My blind run: http://youtu.be/s_sxdecR3iY
mood3rd 1 Mar, 2013 @ 6:25pm
how about turret comments ?
would you come over here ?
ha,ha.
good puzzles.
fizzler area, puzzle good.
the raising of the platform stumped me for a while.
still not sure how, but did it.
then fired wrong portal at the 2 turrets.
so when I went back for the cube.
I went into the goo.
glad I quicksaved F6, just before :)
killing turrets always good.
thumbs up.
