Sneak update: changed the "local" color to purple and changed the "player" text to "global" (makes more sense since we have "local"!).

You can do that in vanilla. You just need to make sure what you're trying to paste has no line breaks, as those don't 'exist' in Starbound.

It's a client-side mod, means everyone else don't have to have this mod.

It would work fine. Whisper is a vanilla built-in feature, I just allows whisper to appear on every channel instad of only one. :)
